Exceptional video. I have never seen a product video in the tools market with such in-depth information highlighting the technical ascpects so well and with such accurate use of units such as Ah, Wh, W, A. Also, the highlighting of the internal resistance etc enables you to decide which battery is needed. Very, very good. I almost regret having bought a hammer drill with a cord recently, but alas. And, by the way, being in this Amp alliance is also a leadershop move. I would be worried if I were Makita.

Brilliant engineering on the tabless design! Why don't you use anodized cast aluminium for the heatsink portion of the battery instead of HDP. Surely that would improve the heat dissipation of the cells significantly.

How would this procore+ 8 Ah compare to a procore 12Ah? Since the performance it up to 71% higher on gbh 45-c which is why I am considering buying a 12Ah battery. If this increase due to lowered resistance can put the performance in the same ballpark it would make it a no-brainer for me to got for a procore+8Ah over of a procore 12Ah.

When do we get those new batteries in the US? Also, Bosch invented the 36v lithium battery category (I loved those tools). When will you make a dual 18/36 voltage battery so we can get more powerful top-end 36/72v tools?
@ijjyahmed2001
@ijjyahmed2001 3 ай бұрын
Bosch's goal with these batteries is to keep it at 18v and not increase voltages and instead increase their motor technology to work on a single voltage. Doubt they will be making multi volt tools any times soon. It's the reason they discontinued the 36v range in the first place.
@mrbigberd
@mrbigberd 3 ай бұрын
@@ijjyahmed2001 Bosch dropped it for stupid marketing reasons and the "single voltage" argument doesn't hold any weight with me. My 36v drill was $550 for a BARE tool and around $850 for the combo with a couple batteries. Their most expensive 18v drill goes for $150 bare and around $300 with one 8ah battery. They priced themselves out of the market and dropping 36v was a political excuse to cover for the misstep. If 18v were the best at everything, companies like Makita with a massive 18v line wouldn't need to add a whole second 36v line of tools.
@ijjyahmed2001
@ijjyahmed2001 3 ай бұрын
@@mrbigberdjust because other companies are willing to change their battery voltage to 36/40/54 and beyond doesn't mean that 18v tools are in any way inferior. Makita has a massive range of 18v tools yes but their 18v batteries are possibly the most basic out of all the manufacturers. Instead of releasing better 18v batteries they decided to make their more "premium" tools locked to a higher voltage platform. What Bosch has done is a lot better. Not only have they massively improved their battery tech to the point where it's easy to say that they're possibly one of the best on the market but they also put their "premium" tools in the 18v range so the people with existing 18v batteries are not forced to buy different/more batteries. Dropping the 36v lineup seemed inevitable anyway , it was extremely rare to come across those tools and they hadn't had a upgrade in years. It's better that Bosch focuses in improving their tools efficiencies than just upping battery voltages.
@mrbigberd
@mrbigberd 3 ай бұрын
@@ijjyahmed2001 a huge company like Bosch can do both. The truth though is that they don’t make the battery cells themselves - they just ask for a spec the battery makers already created. The difference there is Bosch asking for better cells than other manufacturers. This leaves motor and chassis designs. Adding a couple 36v motors to the lineup isn’t a huge cost. They already design 36v systems for stuff like their ebike (I think their mower is 36v too). As to tool design, it can be mostly shared between lines with small changes, so the actual costs are modified tooling and distribution. Even if we assume physics are identical between 36v and 18v systems (they aren’t), making a high performance 18v system is going to be a lot more expensive. Makita or Dewalt will be able to design and ship top end tools for less money. Either they keep prices high and beat the competition in the stock market or they lower prices and beat the competition in raw sales.

@@BoschProfessionalUK are the tabless cell batteries available in the USA?
@BoraHorzaGobuchul
@BoraHorzaGobuchul 8 ай бұрын
Making a power cord that would convert a battery tool to a corded one is VERY straightforward. There is absolutely nothing new there and the only issue is the cost, cause it has to have high-amperage parts, and it could be quite expensive. It would also result in lower battery sales, which is clearly the major reason such things are not widely available. I mean, which sane tool manufacturer will slaughter the gold-egg laying hen while satisfying the requests of its customers? Who cares for higher flexibility, eco-friendliness, and stuff like that? Don't misunderstand me, I like Bosch as a company and respect its devotion to bring out tools that last and produce great results, but let's not be hypocrites and call a spade a spade.
@BoschProfessionalUK
@BoschProfessionalUK 8 ай бұрын
It's worth looking closer into the topic for sure but I would disagree on the Bosch's motivation for not having a solution. It would make manufacturing a lot simpler if we can products that could be both and allow people not invested in the Bosch battery system to use our tools. It's not something Danny and I have had the opportunity to evaluate too deeply but cost and size of the market is what we think is the limiting factor. Bosch, as a company has environmental sustainably at it's core and across all it's different divisions. Either way it's something we will discuss with our colleagues - Chris
@BoraHorzaGobuchul
@BoraHorzaGobuchul 8 ай бұрын
@@BoschProfessionalUK thank you for the response. I still think that partial cannibalization of battery sales is the final nail in the coffin of the outlet-to-battery tool-adapter - though not the main one. Clearly the idea occurred to many people before, but what would happen next? This person would discuss it with the colleagues, perhaps kick it up to the management for evaluation. And there, three things would certainly be discussed: (1) what will it cost (answer is not too much but not exactly cheap, say 50-70 usd MSRP with costs of say 30 usd max including parts and labor); (2) how many will buy it and (3) how deep it will cut in the battery sales. Now I believe it most likely never got to quantification of (3), but it was still considered a negative. The toughest here is (2), because while the idea of having a cord for a battery tool is nice per se, how many are really going to buy it? I won't, for example - I have 4 5ah batteries which are more than sufficient for my needs even when I'm using power-hungry tools. I can see it useful for prolonged operation of larger/demanding tools like angle grinders, rotary hammers, miter saws maybe, but really most people who use those a lot already have a bunch of batteries for those. So sales are going to be minimal for these customers. Maybe some new customers would consider it, but this will be "I'll just get one battery and a cord instead of 3 batteries". So unless my guesstimates are wrong, this adapter thing is just not worth pursuing economically. But sometimes good brands make products that are not high-margin or even plain negative-margin, just because they are unusual or "good publicity", as it provides a bonus to brand awareness, loyalty and gives the basis for free viral word-of-mouth marketing. Such a cord might work great with tools like work lights/flood lights, miter saws, maybe angle grinders, heat guns, and I'm not sure if Bosch has a PVC pipe soldering tool but these are gaining traction as well.

I am a consumer, have a few corded tools and have yet to purchase a Bosch cordless tool. I am considering a tool that can be used both cordless and corded as my next step. I like Bosch, but they don't have anything like that, so I'm holding off. The reasons are frequent battery failures and the need to be able to use corded indoors where electricity is readily available, and Bosch doesn't have an adapter for that (e.g., 220V). I am most concerned about a sudden battery failure stopping my work. However, if the consumer has to buy multiple batteries at a high cost in case of failure, it is a transfer of the battery problem to the consumer, and it takes a lot of time to get a warranty replacement. I thought about purchasing a separate 220V (20v 50A) adapter on the market, but it is still on hold due to the large size of the adapter. Recently, I saw that the DeWalt cordless vacuum cleaner DCV581H can be used both ways (cordless and corded), so I have a DeWalt cordless vacuum cleaner in my head. I used a translator due to my limited English skills, I hope you understand. :)

@BoschProfessionalUK What would give more power/battery life: the new 8ah+ or the regular 12ah procore? For example for the new GAS 18V-12 MC
@BoschProfessionalUK
@BoschProfessionalUK 5 ай бұрын
Hey Jorri! Great question about the batteries! Choosing the right one depends on what you're using it for. If you need power in short bursts, like for a drill, the 12Ah should be your go-to. But for tools that run for longer stretches, like the dust extractor you mentioned, the ProCORE18V+ 8.0Ah is a better fit. Here's why: the ProCORE18V+ uses "tabless" cell tech to give your BITURBO tools more muscle and last longer without slowing down. This means you can vacuum away without worrying about it losing steam! If you're still unsure, we've got another livestream with Chris & Dan on March 6th at 5pm, and they'll be happy to answer any questions you have.
