That's great. There are a lot of misconceptions about heat pumps these days. They have come a long way in a short time. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

I have dakin vrf ac unit and natural gas furnace. Is it possible to swap the ac outdoor unit for that Fit heat pump?
@grantshvac
@grantshvac 5 ай бұрын
Most likely not. It has to be all Daikin equipment because they communicate and so everything needs to be matching the furnace, the coil, the thermostat and the Daikin FIT outdoor heat pump. Everything has to be matching equipment because blower speeds have to match the current demand capacity etc.

I started at the company that I'm at a year ago. They install FIT systems. I've never heard so much complaining from customers about their power bill. Not sure if it's because my boss oversellls it or that it just sucks.

There are several factors that could contribute to customer complaints. If the Daikin FIT heat pump is used in a dual fuel application, it is important to know the cost per therm of the gas supplied to the furnace and what the balance point is set to. Alternatively, if the Daikin FIT heat pump is all electric, we need to compare the cost of electricity versus gas in BTU output. In many cases, natural gas is not expensive, and some of the most efficient heat pumps may still cost more to operate. In a particular case mentioned in this video, the customer had a propane furnace that cost over $2.00 a gallon, and electrical costs 9 cents a kilowatt. There were some savings to be had by switching to the Daikin FIT heat pump. In fact, the customer later shared that she was saving around $250 a month in heating costs.

Hi ! My name is Trung Le. I just purchased my whole house central air Daikin Heat Pump and air handler last week.( I made the decision caused watching your KZfaq). Heat pump Model number DZ5SEA6010AB , 5 ton, 15.2 seer. My seller told me it's 1 staged ( 1stage ) but the installer told me it's 2 stage ( 2 speed ). Could you please tell me it's 1 speed or 2 speed ? Thank you .

Hello Trung Le. The DZ5SEA is a single-stage unit. 5-ton units require a lot of air. 2000 CFM in Colorado. This video is the Daikin FIT, which is a multistage unit, just to be clear.

This is maybe the best explanation I’ve seen of this type of system and how it works. I’m talking with installers about getting a Daikin Fit. I have a question if you don’t mind: is it a bad idea to oversize it to better meet the winter heating load? Can the inverter run the cooling side at lower capacity in the summer to prevent short cycling? Thanks.

It's not a good idea to install a heat pump that is too large for your home. Even if it has several stages, there may be times when it tries to operate at maximum cooling capacity, which could cause issues with the static pressure in your ductwork and trigger an error message on the screen. Unfortunately, the Daikin ONE thermostat does not allow you to set a capacity limits. You can only reduce the airflow by up to 10% and sometimes 15%. The best approach is to size the backup heat kit to match your home's load on the coldest day, using a manual J calculation. If you install a heat pump that is sized for your home's cooling load, it will still meet most of your yearly demands and prevent problems from arising.

To sum up, it is always best practice to size the heat pump for the cooling load rather than the heating load.
