If you pull into any cruise-in or car show, you’re bound to see a lot of cool stuff like Street Rods, Muscle Cars, Slammed Trucks, and Resto-Mods. But none of those would exist if it hadn’t been for those early Hot Rods and the aftermarket parts that made it possible to light up the night with roaring engines and burning rubber. So, to pay tribute to that hot rod spirit Stacey is rolling in a 1940 Chevy coupe and putting together a hot small block to go in it. Multiple carbs, finned aluminum and plenty of horsepower are just some of the magic ingredients that make this rod roar. But it’s not just Hod Rods on this show. Ride along as Stacey takes a legendary Aston Martin DB5 out for a 007 test drive. It’s all here, on Gearz.

My Dad had a '40 Chevy. Loved it. Sold it, then found it years later. He wanted to try and buy it back.They had already started to put a camaro subframe in it. He was not happy.

Reminds me of the pipe fitter from the neighborhood. He has the 40 but a sedan original mohair interior with a 454, 12 bolt rear turbo 400 and some sort of disc brake setup. It was a good running rig. R.I.P. Botto you were a good friend. I wish I knew where that car got off too

Hi Stacey, Mike here. Met you a couple years ago at the fall show in Rochester Indiana and again on Power tour last year. We stood next to my 34 Ford coupe and talked about your 40 Chevy. Glad to finally see what you are working with. Keep the rubber side down and maybe we’ll see yo next year on Power Tour. Good luck with the project.

Drill the intake at the front for an oil fill tube. Old school intake style. Check out some vintage car craft and street rod magazines for some ideas of what was done. Remember people drove them alot more than they trailered them Form and function is what we built back them 👍

Oh man, my heart broke seeing the seating position in the DB-5! I know that I probably won't ever drive one, but it still makes me sad to know that I almost couldn't even if I had the chance. (Key word, almost. I'd make it work! Lol)

I used to drive this exact coupe to high school, Mr. David in case you didn't know there was 2 different coupes back then, the one you have here is called a business coupe. The difference between the business coupe and the standard coupe is the location of the gas filler inlet.

The DB5 and the Jaguar XKE were my favorite 60's cars! I found their body styling to be beautiful and sleek. Folks always complained about the XKE Tri-power being hard to tune! But it had 265 horses under the hood which is huge for such a light car.

Jaguar hit the ball out of the park with the E type. Enzo Ferrari said as much. The DB5 can't hold a candle to the Jaguar.

@@bmstylee O still Like both they have beautiful body lines. but yeah I'd take the E type over the DB5 as well, but come on, who wouldn't love having a Bond car LOL! I was born in 1960 so I am very partial to both cars.

I like the look of the hotrod motor, it is going to fit the ticket on that build. You do get to drive some cool cars, at least in 1965 the average height for a male was a little shorter may have helped.

I’ve probably watched HotRod probably close to 150 possibly 200 times back 9th/10th grade Stacey, if you’re going to acquire Hemi engine from swiping your local sheriff vehicle just make sure it isn’t a Munson Rootbeer controlled sheriff’s vehicle!! Bwhahaha😎 Well, I guess I should’ve watched the first 5 minutes at least then I might have realized I was the only one thinking you were building tribute car that was the star of the movie “HotRod” Perhaps, my impatience will trigger someone’s memory potentially, even Your memory of a not to cheesy sweet classic!! Honestly, In the last two decades plus or minus a few years it doesn’t really matter “What” or the “Direction” You’ve decided for the project they all turn out absolutely beautiful without all the Mother Truckers and thrown tools/components that can be heard from my shop on occasion! 😂

It's so great to have these videos. Feels like when I was a kid watching you build Copperhead. That truck and Stunt Double were the coolest trucks to me. Still are. They're the inspiration for my builds: A gold/burgundy two-tone 1990 Chevy c1500 Silverado swb with a 5.7l 350, and a black/silver 1990 K1500 Scottsdale 305 4x4 5 speed. I want to convert the 2wd Silverado to manual transmission. I have a complete donor manual k1500. I can use the steering column, clutch reservoir, and foot pedals, but not the k1500 transmission, since the 4x4 transmission is different. There are two options: an NV3500, or NV4500. Should I use the NV3500 behind a stock 5.7 350? Thank you Stacey.
@OfficialStaceyDavid
@OfficialStaceyDavid 8 ай бұрын
The NV4500 is a lot stronger, but also more expensive. If you're not going to be driving the truck hard, a NV3500 should last a long time.

I disagree about a Hot Rod having a "Big Engine" or "Massive Power". When Guys like my grandfather came back from WWII and started building "Hot Rods" it was all about function, building the baddest car you could build with what you had sitting around the farm/garage and as cheap as possible, Engine size and paint didn't matter, it was all about shaving weight. unless it has the original engine or atleast an engine that was made from the late 40's early 50's, a brushed on paint job and homemade/tractor seats it's NOT a REAL hot rod. These things now a days that have a big ole V8 sticking out the hood, redone interior, custom chrome wheels and 10k paint job AREN'T a "Hot Rod", they are Restomods. IF you wanna build a "Hot Rod go get you a Flathead Ford, Buick "Fireball" Strait 8 or a First Gen Hemi, Yank the seats out and Build you a a jump seat style seat made out of round tubing and Nylon web straps, and go to wal-mart and buy a couple gallons of barn red or flat black house paint and brush it on, THAT'S A HOT ROD, if your doing anything other than that then your building a Restomod, and it should be called as such.
