Looks like farmers will have to buy Toyota from now on. The defender is no longer the utility vehicle it once was, shame. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice vehicle but it is too high-spec to be the one to replace the Defender.

Have you looked at the prices for a nice original Defender these days??? 38K buys you a nice VW Jetta today, so 50K for a new Defender really isn't that bad. I might agree on your "high spec" comment. It would have been nice if they offered a "plain jane" version with a manual transmission.

Building a car for farmers isn't quite profitable. Solid Axil and Spring suspensions are not great for driving around downtown.

Nice Pictures and a real good Video...………...but why do you call this accumulation of potential electronic errors a Defender ?I'm curious if the car will still work in 10 years and how long landrover has spare parts ready for it. My Defender TD5 built in 2006 has only one ECU, but unfortunately LandRover has no more spare parts in stock. How will it looks like with the 85 ECU of the new one in 10-15 years?This is no Defender and it will never be one !A glorious automotive icon was carried to grabe...…….

ECU was the only part of my departed EFI converted 90 that failed, no fail to proceed issues at all with my standard manual 1978 Range Rover owned now 19 years. Icelandic Hertz Rental 110 TD5 with fake snorkel ( feeding heater!) sniffed some splashed water via the wing mounted induction intake and sulked in limp mode with wet air filter element . What use are electronics and poor design in harsh offroad situations? Keep it simple.

Keep it simple is the right way and this is the real Heritage of the Defender ! Maybe the new Grenadier will be a legal successor…..I hope so.

@@trialandtrophy5237 Seems the Grenadier can now legally look very Land Rover like. See also the Iveco Massif ( a licensed version of Defender?) I just hope they embrace my Grenadier wishlist for simplicity, proper mechanical driveline with full difflocks, military approach to wiring, minimum sensors + easy plug and play for any compulsory ECU, preferably located in a waterproof box above the rear view mirror!

So that's it? the sad demise of a lineage of practical, can be fixed anywhere simple yet capable utility vehicle, shame! RIP the tradition of the original land rovers and defenders. Opens up the market for BOLLINGER and similar manufacturers now who seem to have got their finger on that pulse...

I have never owned a vehicle with so many rattles, unbelievable amount for a premium car. Previously owned 3 Discovery’s and 1 Discovery sport, none of them had this many rattles, just when you locate one another pops up, it’s like the car is mocking me! Had it for 2.5 months, the car will be gone by Christmas at this rate.

Weak Engine, Overpriced....shit low quality interiors.... a to small 90 version, no foldable front winshield whichis a must on this car......, the body is like paper, nothing is modular neither,..... ....even if it has a beautiful design and ajames bond ad with a fake pimped up range rover SVR in it, tha ti sno twhat u get in the true car.... it wont sell at all at thes 4 times that what should be price tags
