@@gokhangirgin25 last time Rolex' design team was creative was back in 1959 when they jumped from the big crown 5508 to the 5512. My guess is that they then moved all the creative guys from the design department to the marketing department. That's where Rolex is creative.

What do you think this means for my 5 year old rolex, 40mm black ceramic bezel and black dial. I paid $8500 and Earlier this year it was trading at $10,000. The 70 hour power reserve is a game changer and wondering how much value I've lost . What are your thoughts?

It depends where you live. In Dubai, several years ago, I walked into an authorised dealership and I tried on the Milgauss Z blue, no date Submariner and the Batman. They even showed me a Hulk, but I wasn't interested - not really my bag. That was in the Mall of the Emirates. The last time I went to Dubai Mall (about a year ago), they didn't have any of those in stock, so I think at some point they changed their policy.

@@robiulahmed I'm pretty new to watches but have been told it was easy to get discount on Submariners and Kermits a few years ago. Now I walk into any Rolex ad they're like just been robbed. Nobody has anything apart from a few gold / diamond datejusts.

I was gutted to see that, and the OP36 white dial is gone too. My friend was lucky to have an OP39 white allocated to him this Spring, but it took a while to ship from Geneva.

"wait until you try this watch on before making a judgement." Oh that's some funny stuff right there. Walk to your AD to be told they are already out of stock and there is a 2+ year "waiting list", but easily available for a 50% uplift through the usual flippers.

Hi Adrian, thank you for talking some sense. You’re right, we don’t HAVE to buy these watches, they won’t change our lives. Let’s not get caught up in all the hype. Let’s be considered in our purchases, if you LOVE the watch and have the funds to buy then good on you, go for it! However if you just like the watch but feel you should buy it because it’s the latest Rolex model, or buying it will put a strain on finances, then take some time out and weigh it all up first.

Here is some advice that fits what he just said. Don't get caught up with the hype when dealing with your AD. be flexible. Walked into my AD last week to by a present for a close friend for Christmas. To be clear I had bought four watches from him over the last two years a previously owned completely served GMT Master II, two Breitling's and a Pelagos. He chatted me up and asked me if I was looking for anything in watches for Christmas, I told him I was thinking of Bathyscaphe. He doesn't carry Blancpain. He asked me if I liked the new Sub, I said yes very much but I like Unicorn's too. He then asked me if I could get one would it be Date of No Date. I said either. He left me to finishing my purchase and as I was leaving he handed me a new Sub date Black still in the coffin and said would you like this for Christmas. I bought it and left wearing it. Point of the story, I didn't ask for a Daytona or a Sub Green Bezel, and when I got a chance I took what was offered. I personally think by spring a lot of Black Bezel Subs date and no Dates will be around. Stop wanting the Special colors, your playing the fools game. The Black is gorgeous I didn't have to have the Green. I took what was offered.

I love that as a watch channel, you mentioned that we don't really need these watches; we only want them. I, for one, love this updated Rolex Submariner. Given I never liked the Maxi case version (always preferring the older models). It's an exciting time that Rolex is recognizing the best things about their history in design. We could also call the new green bezel sub as maybe "Arrow" or "Lantern" in reference to both DC characters.

I am trying SO hard to love them, but I might be slowly turning into one of these “Rolex haters” you talk about. Lovely quality, and I like to follow Rolex news, but what you say is correct about not following the hype train. Though I don’t think it’s a big monetary mistake to buy a Rolex, because you can turn around and sell them for the same price or more in an instant. Caveat, I’ve only owned one Rolex, and it was an older no date sub w non ceramic bezel.

Yep. I too have a 14060M that I might wear 1x a week. A cleaner, more elegant vintage dress watch (Omega Bumper) gets much more use. Just no need for a clunky, heavy sports watch.

The idea that you can sell your rolex for what you paid is a long running lie. There are 1000's of rolexes on the grey market and the chance that you will sell your sub are remote. More than likely you will sell it to or through a dealer for 25% less than what you would expect. No bad, but you ain't gonna make a profit unless you have something special.

Nicely balanced video, good point about the hype, we can all get drawn into the downward spiral of having to have the 'latest' and 'greatest' forgetting that what we have was perfect yesterday so it is still perfect today and will be tomorrow. I already have a green bezel watch so not worried about the LV but the LN now that looks nice.

2:49 I may be mistaken, but I think the lug width is now 21mm and tapers down keeping that 1mm all the way to the clasp.

Finally a bracelet that fits the case. The outgoing Sub's case to bracelet ratio is just horrible, it sits ugly on the wrist and that's why i sold mine, couldn't stand it.

I think the new Submariner will have the same effect like the Explorer II had when changing from 40mm to 42mm. You would think that 2mm won’t make much of a difference but by increasing the diameter to 42mm and increasing the lug width to 21mm even if the lugs remained narrow it made the watch seem much beefier. They did the same thing on the new Submariner where they increased the diameter to 41mm and the lug width to 21mm and narrowed down the lugs and it is worth mentioning that the clasp is now also wider. Wei Koh from Revolution Watch made a video showing both Submariners (Date) the 116610 & 126610 and to my eyes the new one seemed slimed down but a bit bigger than old one. Thanks for the video Adrian and I blame you for making me a ROLEX fan boy. Damn you Adrian…

Just got a Steeldive 1954 homage and it has that thinner lugs and 41mm in size so its pretty interesting how this is basically the same concept with thinner lugs but 1mm larger and with bigger crown guards.

Love the 41mm case! Thanks for the collection brief...we can all stop and wait for the next upgrade haha. Love the new LV (Green Latern) over the Hulk - now trying to buy one oh well. Blue = Manhattan (Dr - watchmen or it could be Sonic which I kinda like).

My immediate reaction is Ocean and Field for the two, they roll off the tongue, they immediately distinguish which is which and both of the watches still have that tool-like feel with the black dial, as such, the ocean and field are true field watches for the depths and the open plains.

Fantastic message, you do not need a Rolex. Take it from me, in the last 20 years I have owned several Rolex watches and other expensive watches, IWC, Panerai. After a year of wearing them they are just a watch that tells the time. A nice watch is nice, but not that important.

A N actually no, my AD offered my first steel sub to me. Then they give me a Root beer, then a Daytona then a bat girl than a Pepsi. I didn’t spend a penny on not professional models. Present yourself nicely is the key.

Just called Watches of Switzerland in London (a huge uk chain of high pieces). Asked about the new kermit and no date sub as they have fixed some of the issues I had a gripe with and I'd only pay that much for a standard steel dive watch because its less likely to depreciate so much. The first thing they did was say its extremely rare but perhaps they could interest me in some alternatives....i said such as....they said new OPs, explorer, milgauss. Basically anything that would turn up soonish that they could get the sale on, regardless of what I want. I asked if its a waitlist process, they said you have to 'register your interest' in person. So you're not in an order. Now they have acted like they will never be there anytime soon, well not for me. So thats my first taste of the Rolex experience. Palmed off, I feel like a lesser client and asked to buy some watches that I dont want just so I have a 'Rolex'. Not sure I'll be doing that again, of course they don't care (Rolex or the AD), they are trying to manage exclusivity and sales at their respective businesses. They have ushered away anyone that hasn't spent tens of thousands with them already. What I dont really get it that they are not exactly haute horology, they are attracting flippers, back door deals and indirectly pissing off their actual fans. So, I'll pass on the steps up to a Lange and my Omegas will do fine.

Kermit II easy peasy. Your whole video was great but the best part was the end, No one needs these watches, no one needs to over pay. Last month I bough a Pelegos its running +2.2 second a day It feels great and looks great on my wrist I argue it's specs are just as good as these new Subs for half the price. There are so many watches out there that you can get, enjoy the hobby don't let it rule you.

But that’s the choice I’ve made and I didn’t do it because of the hype, I did it because I love their design, history and just general tool watch aesthetic

I think the glide-lock system has been improved? Instead of "clicking" the last link out to enable glide-adjustment you just lift the tip of the buckle to enable glide-adjustment. Probably not describing it well lol~

Hi Justin, that sounds like the glide lock. You flip up a section and then it smoothly glides along the sizes, rather than a ratchet clicking a long.

BTW guys, if anyone needs a NATO strap go ahead and get one from B&J. I just bought four of them. In my estimation they are easily as good as the Omega or Tudor in-house straps for a fraction of the price! I'm wearing them on a 11.5K Blancpain and it feels totally compatible in terms of quality. (And no, I'm not affiliated to B&J in any way - it's an honest recommendation.)

Grinch is a perfect name for this new Green dialed Sub! Seriously! Like waiting for Santa all year and in the morning waking up and there are no gifts and the tree missing too. Exactly like showing up at the Rolex AD "No Green bezel Subs available and a 4 year wait list". Grinch, Grinch, Grinch, Grinch!!!!!
