my dear friend Behringer has even ruined the existing heritage synths when it comes to their designs, by the way, they have lots of lovely mixers so you don't have to wait, what they don't have is an original artistic vision to make a masterpiece of a designed battery-powered high-quality mixer/drum machine /synth/audio interface/ effect processor that you can carry in your cigarette box ... and by the way, I'm not anti-Behringer at all I am going to buy their VCS-3 and their Enigma synth as soon as they come out, and I am also buying their 2500 modules one at a time

@@tompoynton Theres so much dumbing down of music products atm...Fairplay to TE for having the balls to create something NEW which also looks cool - costs a lot of time, effort and money. Yeah Behringer can reverse stuff in a plastic shell and sell for peanuts but you still have to respect the companies like TE that makes stuff from scratch. Music was never cheap, the original products (think MPC 60, SP1200) were all thousands of pounds because they had to invent it and not clone it for mass cheap knock offs.

It is pretty gorgeous as a design object, but seems like a missed opportunity to omit standalone, multi-channel audio recording. Considering that you'd need to be dealing with six different devices to justify all the inputs- it is pretty hard to stay comfortably in backpack territory by that point, unless you're pairing it with 6 P-Os, which would be a huge cost disparity. Even if you had to turn off a bunch of the DSP to manage the overhead, it would be an acceptable exchange for six channels of (balanced) audio recording to a usb storage device. That would feel a lot more useful for this price imo.

This is the best video you have done for this unit. The synth sounds huge and moody. I can see the synth, the small footprint and the battery power being massive plus’s on any dawless setup. I feel that the option of Midi in and out over the aux and cue ports would be the last missing piece of the puzzle in terms of making things work together. Any plans to add it? Would also love to see it recording per channel with an option to mix it together later on disconnected.

@anthonyniedzwiecki33
@anthonyniedzwiecki33 2 жыл бұрын
Also, I think they would've found that no one wants a highly constrained synthesizer, drum machine and sequencer BUILT INTO any mixer ever. I buy a mixer to mix external signals, not for it to produce its own sounds I need to mix. Those with big fingers also would've advocated for a something a little less cramped. I would only get frustrated using something this small. A mixer should be tactile; this is not.

I think the product seems really cool and I know TE prices are ridiculous and I’m (possibly) stupid enough to pay for them… but $1200 for this is so incredibly off the mark. God how I wish I could afford it... but I'm not going to badmouth the company just because I cant! anyway again maybe I have smoked something and I just have forgotten it !!

Teenage engineering went from LEGITIMATELY priced gear to...... OVERPRICED hipster gear. No thank you ... With each product launch TE makes, I'm more and more turned off. And cost of materials is no longer cutting it as an excuse.... first it was the OP-1: orignal price of roughly 600 USD, then doubled in price to 1200 USD for cost of materials. Then they release OB-4 for 800 bucks - for a portable speaker with some kinda cool recording/remixing features but no line out what's this for?? EINH? I actually think this is amazing. Think about it. You can input a guitar, a few portable synths, a microphone, perform a live set with friends, while simultaneously recording all 6 channels into a daw on your smartphone or tablet on separate tracks. And when you are done you can just throw the entire setup into a small bag (minus the guitar). Then add to that this thing has midi capabilities? A rather long lasting battery? Is there anything else like this, that even come close? I will admit it is out of my price range and I have what I need already. But this would be the ultimate mixer and audio interface for me.

@@pontiuspilates the bluebox is amazing, but it isn’t an audio interface as far as I know and it requires external power. Maybe they can update it so it will be an interface? I think tx6 has 8 hours of battery life. As for mixing, i would rather have knobs and sliders for every channel. Especially in a live setting. I haven’t used the bluebox so maybe it is actually quite easy, but I am resistant to the touch screen. And to have it all controllable by midi is a plus. Or to assign those knobs and sliders as midi controllers could be useful too. The pocket operators are great, but there are so many portable synths these days. I am sure TE had OP-1 and Z in mind as well. My mic is a Tula, so would work perfectly, as do many other portable mics. By dongle do you mean like a headphone amp? I mean you could use a preamp or just a regular amp. But a headphone amp would allow you to go anywhere.

@@lemonrain2741 it's much better to use external power in a mixer than a USB. Unless you want noise in your signal.

@@pontiuspilates yeah I would hate to only run it off the internal battery, as good as that battery is. Though the manual shows many configurations where it is being powered by usb. So I would assume they have found a solution to that, but it would be another thing to verify before buying.
