UDOT and UTA, as key partners, are introducing an exciting new technology called vehicle-to-everything (V2X), underscoring our shared commitment to innovation and progress.
To put it simply, V2X enables vehicles to communicate with drivers and their surroundings through sensors and wireless connectivity. This means that vehicles can "talk" to each other and to the road infrastructure. The technology is already in use on several UTA buses, where it helps improve on-time arrival through traffic signal prioritization.
In the future, V2X will be able to alert drivers in real time about potential hazards and road closures ahead. By connecting vehicles and infrastructure, V2X has the potential to save lives and create a safer transportation system for all of Utah, ushering in a new era of efficient and secure travel.
