In this lecture, I present my reading of first chapter in Hegel's 'Lectures on Logic. The Lectures on Logic is a transcript of the lectures gave throughout the years on his 'Encyclopedia of Philosophical Sciences', compiled by his 18 year old son and discussed with his father.
The first chapter, called 'Preliminary General Concept of Our Subject Matter', Hegel introduces the audience to the difference between philosophy and empirical sciences apropos their object of study, the faculty of the Understanding, universality, particularity, singularity and the three positions of thought toward objectivity.
