They actually found recipes in Egypt. Written on walls clear as day. You know once they were translated😅 The Egyptians wrote just about everything down so I’m not surprised they found recipes. There’s a book called Kyphi: The Sacred Scent by Karl Vermillion that has those translations. You do you girl and I’m definitely gonna use this as a reference to make my own kyphi. I just really like books. It seems to me that kyphi is like borscht. It’s all borscht but everyone has their different recipes. Of course there are elements to kyphi and borscht that are required but they seem very flexible and you can be creative with it

Thank you so much for all of your videos. I particularly enjoy this series as I enjoy making my own incense in general. I obtained all the ingredients I didn’t have and I plan to start making my first batch tomorrow on the winter solstice.

Thank you so much for this information! I am currently writing a research paper on Kyphi and it is so interesting to see the different uses of Kyphi through antiquity to present times!

The Greeks probably didn’t “take” the word. A lot of the times with languages, there are vowels and such that don’t exist in what you’re translating from. For example the English letters “r” and “l” basically mean the same thing in Japanese which doesn’t have a distinguished difference between the two letters. When they were translating the anime Inuyasha, they got a character’s name incorrect because of this confusion. The original name “Kirara” (who’s the most adorable cat demon) became “Kilala” in the English dub. This is because the fact that you could use “r” or “l” when translating something from Japanese to English, they just went with Kilala. Because it’s a name, there’s no reference to compare it to unlike something like “royal” where it’ll be more obvious what’s an “r” or “l” because royal is a known word. There’s even a word that basically means “really strong friendship” in Japanese that the English language doesn’t have a direct translation for so we basically translate it as best we can That’s most likely the case here. Kyphi probably wasn’t a word in the Greek language that they can compare it to so they just went with their best guess. It happens a lot. Sometimes things get lost in translation or you simply don’t have the word in the language you’re translating to

Em Hotep (Greetings and peace) Absolutely lovely, I'm thrilled to discover this common connection we share beyond witchcraft. I am a Kemetic (Egyptian reconstructionism and related traditions) myself and it is wonderful that you got such a rich education in your years on your path and that you share some of it here. I have been enjoying your many videos across many subjects.

I have compounded a few of the ingredients but have never undertaken the formula like this, I have purchased it online before but once I have things in order around here I might try making some. I have made anointing oils and prepared Natron salt. Frankincense, Myrrh, Dragon'sblood, and Sandalwood are my favorites, and Copal too... Copal I have taken to referring to as "Frankincense of the Americas" I was not aware that Copal was endangered. Thank you for recommending the incense-making.com page as that is indeed very helpful to make less damaging choices. They are doing work in Africa to try to keep the Sahara from growing further. They are planting several kinds of trees and plants to facilitate this, calling it a "green belt". Trees like the Frankincense tree thrive in arid areas and the presence of many such plants will keep the soil enriched and encourage more vegetation and green the land. Most of us Kemetics unfortunately are very far flung and scattered and unless you live in a few key areas it is hard to gather for something like making incense as a group. One day perhaps.

@AmayaRaiyne If you are looking for a substitute for the Lotus or Ylang Ylang anything very heavily floral might work. For instance, Rose. Or other heavy, sweet, floral smells.

Since the date is going to steep in the fluid for quite some time, it doesn't matter what kind. Even dried dates can be used, with the amount of fluid increased to compensate for them.

A pure version can be bought at Scents of Earth online. They have a white lotus which is amazing. However, too pricey for me. What I used in this recipe I got from Soma Luna online. You don't need much. You can buy a very small bottle - I bought a 1/2 ounce bottle. I've made other batches of Kyphi where I substituted some other heavy floral essential oils (jasmine and rose work) for the lotus. But the lotus is such a special smell, and you need so little, it is worth it to find it.

Did the second video in the series answer your questions, Laura? The oil mentioned is lotus oil. The mix is covered with regular table wine. Any red wine or burgandy wine. Not sure what your question about size EP means.

In the mid-80s a dear friend was heavily into alternative spirituality and asked my permission to change my name between us. She said Kyphi suited me better for her. Soon everyone was calling me that. I really didn't understand it all but after viewing these videos, I am quite humbled. I am getting married this fall and was wondering if you could tell me where I could get a good quality Kyphi as I would LOVE to burn it for our ceremony. Thank you kindly for these vids and I wish you well.

@avalonmoon91 Cinnamon and frankincense are part of the traditional recipe. When you watch the video I do on the second night of compounding, the one that is about the sandalwood, check out what you might replace it with that has the same attributes. It should be a wood, and is should be a "high" note. I would think that much is a given. But you can certainly be creative and think of other options.

I received a small portion as a gift about 15 years ago.... this is WONDERFUL. I don't know what "date" is (your second ingredient) so, please, if it is not much trouble for you, write the ingredients so I can search what it is in portuguese :) Thank you so so much for this really nice video :*

I just ordered all my ingredients to make some of my own kapet. Though i am going to add and subtract a few things. I'll be adding Rosemary and Star Anise, for enhancing psychic awareness/abilities. I associate rosemary with divination, and such, as well as Star Anise.

What a wonderful name! Oh, how I do wish I had some of the batch I made for this video left (I gave it all away when I moved house) - as I would have loved to have sent you some! A suggestion from where to buy it is from Christian Day's Hex shop. You can buy online from hexwitch.com. I recommend it because I've had the opportunity to come to know him a bit recently, and I know the care and sincerity he puts into the products his stores sell.

+venus12277 I do believe we sometimes capture energetic orbs in videos/photos ... but in this case I was recording it at high pollen season and that room was full of dancing bits of trees and plants floating around and being caught by the sunlight. It was sneezing season :)

I am confused about the amounts of ingredients. One reference is 4 raisins for a teaspoon of dry ingredient? Then some places talks about tablespoons, then other parts discusses "parts". I am totally lost on the ratio. Also, I want to add saffron to my recipe. Is there a particular night to add that? blessed be! and thank you for sharing!

Hello, dear Mary Mirth, I´m a brazilian girl that is studying your Kyphi incense recipe to help a friend doing it. And I have some doubts. Can you answer me, please, first what do you mean when you said abou the size of the incense? waht is a size of EP? And later on, on 5:56 minutes of the video, you said the base of the recipe that is going to be raisins and dates, loweds oil?, honey, ok, and covered with wine stinck?. I am not sure about what it is. Can you clarify it to me please.
