Are frames immortal? You might be surprised. If a layer-2 loop exists in your network, you might find that your frames loop indefinitely.
Is this a problem? Yes! As frames loop around your network, they consume resources. Add in more hosts and more frames, and you can grind your network to a halt.
This is what we call a broadcast storm.
So what can we do? The good news is that this problem was solved way back in 1985, when spanning-tree was developed.
Spanning-Tree Protocol (STP) detects loops, and then selects a link in the loop to disable. This breaks the loop, so we no longer have a problem.
In the next video, we’ll see exactly how this works.

You're right. Explaining spanning tree in roughly 4 minutes is extremely high level. 🔛 to the next one.

For the next video I hope you will be covering spaning tree prority. Lowest "wins" and traffic gets sent to that switch but if that switch doesn't have an uplink to pass the traffic on to, what happens to the traffic once it reaches the STP root? Is it discarded or will it be forwarded again and if so, where to? This is a part that many other videos/tutorials I have watched totally miss out on.

Can you make a video on overlay technologies like IPSEC, GRE, LISP ?
