The calculations here can be simplified. You don't even need the diameter of the two strings, just the fact one is twice as wide. The area of the first string is π r^2, and the second is π (2r)^2 = 4 π r^2. Since the area is 4 times as large and the first string broke at 100 lbs, the second must break at 400 lbs! Otherwise a surprisingly neat video, I was expecting a joke but this is nice too!

Stress is force per unit area and strain is how much an object elongates (or compresses) due to stress
