I have been drawing this technique for several years. The meditation that comes with this drawing has been amazing for me. I love the peace of drawing it and the end results are so beautiful to me. I have small sketch books full of these drawings. Thank you for sharing it with the world. We need more people who freely share techniques for growing and transforming our lives.❤

thank you for the wonderful feedback. I appreciate it and I agree this needs to get out into the world - of course I am bound by some trademark restrictions (Neurographica is a protected method), but I am trying to share as much as I can in this way. I am glad you enjoyed the mediation as well. I would love to see your drawings. I have a private Facebook group if you would be open to share: facebook.com/groups/neuroartproject

Thank you, that was a great presentation and connection. Only discovered this modality a few days ago and am loving starting to practice. Interested now to find your video on 'the line' Another (Russian) teacher mentioned 'whatever direction the line wants to go, move in another direction' and that has confused /challenged me to understand how that works with 'trusting the flow of the line' in a way you mentioned that I'm used to doing from many years of art therapy/free or intuitive line and colour practice. Thanks again!
@neuroartproject
@neuroartproject 4 ай бұрын
Thank you for your feedback, i really appreciate it. Yes, the line is really a chapter by itself. The way I see and teach it is that there is a range of possibilities that we can play and experiment with - following the flow, finding our edge, or even going against the flow. But I don't think that we always need to necessarily push ourselves to the edge of comfort. In the end, it is all about exploring and strengthening our perception and inner awareness 😊

Breathe, breathe in the Sharpie fumes. lol. I just found this and I love it! Thank you for posting this for us for free! I showed it to my art therapist too! I’m just gonna have to find a different marker the sharpie is making me feel yucky. …my first time and using the regular thick sharpie. My lines started out looking like waves or peninsulas with lots of squares edges so ended rounded those and it looked like swirly waves/lava lamp fingers…my lines didn’t really over lap much. But now I’ve rounded and rounded in my catharsis, the sharpie lines all look so thick it seems hard to find how I’m going to put in my focal through energy lines. 😊💚🙏✨💚💕

yes, other markers work perfect. I always recommend to just experiment with any and all materials that you already have sitting on your desk. And yes, for the emphasis it is nice to have a thicker pen and line, or you can also make one circle stand out with a stronger color for example. Hope this helps. I am so grateful that you have this out in the public’s eye without having it behind a pay wall. I’ve been trying to learn the overall process, and do plan to dig deeper as I go. It seems as if everytime I’ve asked other creators questions on SM - they send me a dang link to their paid trainings. 🤦🏼‍♀️. I had an interesting moment as you drew your lines. maybe is normal when watching someone rather than personally be doing it ourselves at the time. At various times, I had one or two words come to mind which were definitely related to me. With that being said, when doing our own, if that were to happen - is it okay to stop and write that word or phrase in the spot that we felt it? Or does that interrupt the flow? Again, thank you for your generosity for us all to learn the process!!! The awesome part of giving from a place of gratitude is that as the video finished, I am super excited to hear that you said you have a course!!!! ❤❤ I’m gonna go check them out for sure!!!

thank you for your wonderful feedback and insights 🙏 i really appreciate it. About the words that come up for you, you can absolutely stop and write them down in your drawing, many of my students have done similar things and i feel that it can actually enhance the process as we stop and listen. And most important of all, i absolutely recommend experimenting and making this your own process, and if something comes up then always listen - on a deeper level, this is what this entire method is all about. I hope to see you in one of my courses or workshops in the future 😊 and i would also love to see your drawings - i have a Facebook group where you are invited to share: facebook.com/groups/neuroartproject

@neuroartproject
@neuroartproject 4 ай бұрын
@jameemaree4602 to be perfectly honest most of the time i use simple copy paper for my classes and demonstrations, and yes, the sharpie absolutely bleeds through, but i don't mind that. sometimes when i do longer processes for myself I do use thicker mixed media paper, especially when i want to experiment (like with using watercolor pencils or other coloring experiments). But to begin with I wouldn't even worry about that and just use whatever you have available.

Thank you so much for this amazing demonstration. I really enjoyed it and your explanations were really clear 😊. I just wondered - I had a lot of bleeding with my pen. thank you for the beautiful feedback, I am glad that you enjoyed the drawing. Yes, sharpie can be a little harsh for some paper. I use copy paper (75 g/m2) for my demonstrations, but privately I sometimes like to use heavier drawing paper. But what if you make this round shape away from all the lines (as I did)? Also what if I feel bad and anxious and frustrated in the end? It seems it doesn't make sense to make oneself feel even more lousy and depressed?
@neuroartproject
@neuroartproject Ай бұрын
if you make the shape away from all the lines you should at some point make a connection. One of the main principles of Neurographica is connection between all elements in a drawing. If you have "negative" feelings after a drawing, you can continue drawing, rounding more, softening more edges, connecting more, breathing deeply and most important of all inquire with yourself what you are feeling and why. Also, you can ask yourself what you might need and add circles into the drawing to symbolize these things. The drawing will only bring out what is already inside you, and it can actually help to recognize, acknowledge and then move those emotions. These drawings are deep self-inquiries and you can decide how deep you want to go with it. I hope this helps.

Hello, the method is usually taught in courses, because it is all about practice, so it doesn't really make sense to read about it. I know that there are books that "pretend" to introduce Neurographica, but the ones I've seen so far are not comprehensive and will not allow anyone to actually learn the method. I recommend taking a class - I offer a self-paced online program with recordings that goes into great depth and detail and is filled with drawing practice to really learn the method. I also offer personal feedback on selected drawings and have a student facebook group where students can connect and share their experiences. Here is more information: neuroartproject.net/basics-course

Years ago I did a workshop with Michele Cassou - Point Zero Painting. Cassou method has some similarities to the Neurographic. 😅 you can interpret it however it makes sense for you. In a way, I feel it can help "normalize" the mess, and it is like this for everyone, especially when we are working with inner tensions. Neurographica is not a therapy, even though it can be used as a tool by art therapists. For all the examples you mentioned I would always recommend to work with a professional. This art process can trigger emotional reactions and there needs to be caution when working with people who have experienced major tauma etc.

As a scientist and an artist, both of many years experience, it seems to me to be psychobabble. What proof is there that the final drawing improves the psyche?
@neuroartproject
@neuroartproject Ай бұрын
Most studies have been done in Russian so far (because the creator of the method is Russian)...there are several studies, so you can research them if you're really interested. From personal experience and working with a few hundred students and clients, I can say that there are definitely impacts on the psyche. This method is about self-reflection, self-observation, and getting to know yourself on a deeper level. Most if not all of the people I've worked with have experienced quite profound effects, and have developed a deeper understanding of themselves.

it's all about the energy and the process - and a good way to question and overcome perfectionism as well 😊

if you're not interested in learning this specific technique that is absolutely fine...no one is pressuring you...just do whatever you want and call it doodling

Some people may doodle like this, but most of the time, doodles at least attempt to create images. This is 100% non-image based and is much more about the process of putting lines and color on paper rather than the final product. It's a meditation exercise.

@eliseintheattic9697 thank you, yes, absolutely agree. Neurographica is a meditative self-inquiry that uses drawing as a tool to connect with our subconscious...

"I live in California." No WAY! 😱 Seriously, though, this is really interesting. I'll give it a go. And you have an overwhelmingly good vibe so I really enjoyed the video.

I wish my husband and I could have found you after he was in an accident involving H2S gas, hydrogen sulfide. We lived in very rural northern Canada. H2S is the dirty little secret in the gas and oil industry. The last 3 years of his life were so so heart breaking with his mind. I tried the best I could, self teaching, to help my sweetheart of over 30 years....just so he'd be as comfortable in his mind and spirit. It brings me some joy to see your efforts may help others. Perhaps I can benifit too...just not yet...I'm too numb. sweet thoughts and hugs 🫂 ❤

I am so sorry to hear about your husband. My heartfelt wishes to you. Whenever you feel ready to explore some art for your own healing and process, there is a video specific to grieving on my channel and at some point in the future I will offer Art of Grieving meetings again. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i8-HiKiYq6-ypmg.htmlsi=zuWoFcyZJMW_2mlU
