This is a different type of layoff, Intuit's culture has changed. In fact, the people who have been let go have even been labelled 'underperformers' in public. This is all the new CEO's doing, serving the shareholder and stock price overlords

Yes!!! The more I’m reading into how this was handled, I am really upset for all employees. I had just read the news and this was my initial thoughts. It was really mishandled. And they have a LOT of practice at this.

Getting into A.I. is expensive so they had to trim the fat. As A.I. gets put in place and fine tuned, there will be many more layoff's as A.I. once in place is very fast and very good. Don't bet on any rehiring. There will probably be more layoff's and more money spent on A.I. Most techie's will be fighting for a job that pays much less.

Good points and for the most part, as AI is in this “learning” stage, the entry level or intern types of positions will be affected. Technology has always defined and evolved our workforce. ATMs, self checkout, kiosks, and assembly line robots have taken those positions for automation. I have no doubts that they will rehire some if not all. Their AI product is nowhere near its potential and needs the right people to help create it. Also no doubts they will be asking their people to do more with less.

History. I worked there for 18 years. Saw this time and time again. Every July someone was impacted by a restructuring. And every July there were job openings. The kinds of jobs that would be affected by the jobs that AI could take over aren’t even employees to Intuit. They are contract outsourcers domestically and overseas so they wouldn’t be considered layoffs anyway.

I'll disagree with that I used to work private security for them at the mountain view campus and I Will say that they recently put all this money for naming rights for a new venue for the NBA LA clippers not to mention they spent about two for three years building a new state of the art building with a cafeteria and for the employees to use. I don't buy it that it's AI they should be better to provide jobs for employees than to just kick them to the curb just because they decided to change directions with technology such as AI.

Absolutely! Their marketing efforts are expensive. I mean sponsoring the NFL playoffs is not cheap either. Susan has stated many times that AI is the future direction of the company. You can read his communication here. www.intuit.com/blog/news-social/investing-in-our-future/
