My bro and I were fishIng a team tourney on the Cal Delta. A ski boat made a clockwise turn in a slough to turn around. We were traveling on the right side, but the skier decided to roost us anyways. Blood boiled and pleasantries were exchanged. Also, I could have caught a skier a spinnerbait once when he tried to roost me while I was fishing...but since I'm such a nice guy, I stopped the trajectory at the last second. A white spinnerbait with double willows:)

Great advice I’m definitely going to try that tomorrow on the water. but I will say the lake I moved to 2 years ago has proven the Jackhammer for me. I know it’s expensive but on this particular lake (yes I’ve experimented with them all) the Jackhammer shines. When the Chatterbait bite is “on” I get 3:1 jackhammer: any other (even custom made) they are expensive but effective

Love chatterbaits and agree on the Jackhammer v Evo. I run Evos and the minis when it calls for it. Just smacked a smallmouth yesterday in very brown water conditions on a white ⅜ Evo with a pearl white trailer. So much flexibility on these lures in regards to how you can present them. If you don't fish them you should.

Randy if u don't wanna have to deal with having to put a worm in every time u put on a new tube. Just try some of the kietech tubes they are completely solid. An actually are meant to be rigged without a stupid tube jig but u can still get that stupid tube action because. The head of the bait is a little more denser then rest of body an causes it to glide back without any weights. An is extremely dense and heavy for its size due to it being completed solid and filled with tons of salt but I think will work well for this as well.

Randy, I've been watching a lot of your videos lately. I fully understand the threat technology presents to future fishing. I'm wondering, do you anticipate the average weekend fisherman will be using the high end technology? Or, are you concerned that competitive fisherman are removing quality breeder fish? Aren't these fish put back? I wonder what the survival rate is? Also, do you think changing possession limits to require larger fish be returned to the water and allowing the harvest of smaller ones could make a sustainable difference? I'm 79, and was raised next door to a very large fish hatchery. As a child, on summer evenings I used to sneak down to the ponds with a fishing pole. Possibly a little karma and some good parenting, led became an active conservationist later in life. Frankly, I'd like to see tournaments with much smaller motors and way less electronics. I don't see 300 hp motors or A.I. fishing guides adding anything to the sport or the fishery, but that's where the money is. Until BASS figures out how to handicap fishing competitions by awarding extra competitive points to the most sustainable fishing methods, such as wakeless and exhaust free electric motors, barbless hooks, restocking programs funded by the sport, and habitat restoration, the sport and the fishery will not be sustainable. Fishing and fishing venues have morphed into something that is unrecognizable from the simple adventures of my youth. I see that as sad and alarming. But then, the loss of 30% of all living species on earth as well as 60% of the forests is even more tragic. Unfortunately, our population centers shifted dramatically during the last century. The true stewards of the land were displaced. The majority of our population no longer experience nature as a teacher and an inspiring companion. As a result, they do not see our pristine heritage and home slipping away. Sorry, time to get off the soapbox.

What's special about it is only the #2 decoy snap, 5/0 high carbon hook, double wire keeper, tied skirt, premium paint, stainless blade, and direct head connection. That said they don't catch any better for me than the O.C.B. they just look cooler when I open the box of them. 😆 Randy's old school jig is much the same. Super high end components but I'm adding a few to my box. I can all but guarantee they won't fail. Just my .02

@@Mr.Higgs. I mainly fish the river. The tippy flows out of Lake tippicanoe in k county down through marshall county which has my favorite stretches of the river and then it flows through fulton County and the further towards winimac the more awful the fishing gets because the river widens and gets very shallow in the summer months when most portions of the northern stretch have water all the way across despite the width of the river in that area is lesser. Always bring 3 rods in the truck with me. A medium action ugly stick gx2 with an old Mitchell reel my grandfather gave a 5/6 9' weight fly rod that i chuck streamers with for carp pike and smallmouth. Though common bi catches are flathead cats rock bass sauger walleye the hybridization of the two and ive pulled in a tiger musky out of a hole on the county line of Kosciusko and Marshall. My personal best northern was a quarter of an inch over 41" unfortunately I didn't have my scales. Caught it on a live green sunfish under a blown up water balloon in early June. When I can get the chance if I'm in the area I'll toss a line in the eel or Wabash river. But i find i have better luck fishing my home waters and I'm lucky to be able to fish such a diverse piece of water. I don't understand why people say Midwest fishing is trash. Yeah we don't have huge trout but we do have fat river smallies and the occasional toothy critter

And yes I know we have a three hook limit. I know some private lakes that if a regular Joe blow knew the right dude like say if you worked in the right hay field throwing bales that this family owned they had a small lake out in the middle of the sticks and you used to be able to pay 3 bucks a person to go fish out there and they could take a legal limit of fish. It was such a well kept secret that the few people who knew about it took enough fish out of the lake to balance the ecosystem to the point after a couple decades you could throw a spinner or jig out and every cast catch 2+ pound crappie and I never remember catching a bluegill in the lake that wasn't atleast 10 inches long. Some of them pushed 13 and they had hump heads like crazy. They were a dark purple and teal color and made some great fried fish sandwiches

Got off on a tangent. Anyhow these guys from out of state that was related to one of the fellows that regularly fished there decided since it wasn't a public lake they could say fuck the rules and use a 5 hook a rig and they cleaned that whole lake out and now it's full of bullheads stunted channel cats and tiny pale looking gills. I haven't heard of a largemouth crappie or yellow perch being caught out of there In ten years because the father died and I the process of his sons squabbling over the land general wealth and who it went to they abandoned their dads plan to shock the lake restock and get the fishery back to where it used to be

IMO the thing the jackhammer does better than the normal chatterbaits is off center hunting on rod twitches. Regular chatterbaits tend to stay largely on center but the jackhammer seems to hunt really hard when I give it a twitch and the fish go crazy over it. I get tons of hits right after I give it a twitch or two.
