EPI member Jason Blackburn, Ph.D., and members within his lab at the University of Florida work with local and international collaborators to investigate bacterial outbreaks of Bacillus anthracis (anthrax), Burkholderia and Brucella. The SEER Lab uses a combination of whole genome sequencing, bioinformatics, geospatial modeling, serology and animal tracking to understand where to expect anthrax in the environment and how animals come into contact with reservoirs of Bacillus anthracis.
