The 3-step approach that I recommend to teach yourself financial modeling and valuation is as follows:
1. Start out by understanding the theoretical aspects of financial modeling and valuation.
2. Once you have somewhat of an understanding of the theoretical concepts, it's time to get your hands dirty. Use and Try various pre-built models and templates (DCFs, LBOs, cash flow models, etc.) that you can play around with.
3. Once you start feeling comfortable working on ready-made templates, you can graduate to building models yourself from scratch in Excel.

Sir since I have a great interest in stock market which I came to know in lockdown but I thought it was too late bcoz I took science. Now the situation is I want to pursue my career in finance & while searching how to change my domain from science to finance I got this video & it literally changed my mind. Sir, converted VGSoM, IIM-K waitlisted-12 @ IIM-C (PWD NC-OBC). Interested in finance. However I've a huge gap with no corporate experience after grad (2013). Civil Engineering background (avg. Hi, I have 3+ years of work experience in IT role and i am a bcom (hons) graduate from DU. During this time period i had tried but could not get into any finance related role. Now i am preparing for MBA and my aim is to get into investment banking but i do not have CA/CFA degree but in order to compensate for that, i am planning to do a couple of finance related certification courses. In my 10th and 12th my scores were more than 90% and in graduation it was 65%. So will it eventually make any difference in my selection in IB?

You can switch to IB, but it will need you to gain major knowledge and expertise in finance domain which you can do by completing CFA or MBA in finance. You can start with small certifications like NISM program as well but that will only help you out to understand basics not in the profile shift. ultimate goal should be to do either CFA or MBA Fin.

If your goal is finance and more specifically investment banking then CMA or ACCA is not the right choice, These are more into the accounting side of the industry than the finance side of the industry. So courses like FRM or CFA will offer you better opportunity and exposure.

in that case when you pursue your bba and mba from iim, your focus must be on gaining enormous exposure in the form of internships and society events. it is the most important thing to develop your practical understanding of the concepts. also, alongside your 5 years program you can complete professional courses such as frm and cfa to make sure to gain all the knowledge and leverage the opportunity of placements later on.

you can start with basic finance concepts which is covered with our Nism program, if you can sessions on weekend mornings then that will be great we will cover enormous concepts relevant for investment banking industry
