Back years ago when I worked for Los Angeles Dream Center producing their weekly television show, I was asked to produce my own story.
Although this is my story, in many ways it's my story spun for a hidden agenda. This 'testimony package' was produced to raise money to purchase more buses. Please note, I am not saying that's a bad thing. Nonprofits have to raise money to fuel impact of their mission. My point is simply that more often than not, nonprofits use media to raise money or some other agenda, and the story itself may not actually be authentic.
Please also note I was the producer. I pride myself on how well it was produced to tell a compelling story for the hidden agenda of buying buses. At the time, the broadcasting network had these insane rules about length of time a show could make an 'appeal'. All of the TV ministries played games attempting to trick the network's "bean counters" in the hopes of getting more donations. Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn't. I actually became very good spinning stories around a hidden agenda. My story as an example. If I didn't tell you it was produced to raise money for buses you would have never known, but now that I have told you, you'll see the bus story line a few times and images of buses throughout.
Again, story manipulation is not bad if done with integrity, and most every business and nonprofit spins stories to fit their needs. This video, however, is at the foundation of why I work very hard so that every story on Invisible People is real and authentic.
I do love seeing my father in this video, and seeing the Dream Center and Pastor Matthew as they were back in the day. In the upcoming feature film about my work I share how the Dream Center saved my life. Over the last 15 years, and after working in full time ministry for much of that time, my views on church have greatly changed, but I still believe the Dream Center model is still a huge step in the right direction

It's nice to see the story behind the man. Your videos have inspired me and my family to reach out to the homeless, and our lives definitely haven't been the same since. Keep up the good work....you are a blessing to more people than you know.

So happy you got clean and came to God. Jesus died for all. Every single one of us. I am so sorry you felt so bad in your life. I have been there. May God keep you safe. We are carved in the palm of his hands. You have helped so many people. Thank you. Hugs and Prayers

In Oct. 2009 I lost my job I had been on for 15 years. Due of that length of employment I was able to get unemployment and small tax returns from that compensation. Unlike the old days I was unable to find more work and certainly not alone in my search. In 2011 I found a way to make some change selling my personal property at a flea market. As of 2 weeks ago the market closed and I am back at square 1. With God's help I will earn money again soon. That which did not kill me has made me stronger.

Watching over "those of you"???? Ugh! That is what I hate about religion. God doesn't watch out for a certain type of person. God watches over ALL! Christian or not.

The people I admire most are not those with a God-given acting or singing talent, super intelligence, etc. but those with flaws who not only overcome them but then seek to help others. A great story and a great life. I also wish more churches had an active homeless outreach.

I still say everyone should learn to stealth camp they can end up mobile and HL in an instant. I have been out in my camper for the last week just being without running water is a pill. I have running water from the garden hose a few yards outside the door but filling 2 liter bottles to bring inside to use for dish washing and rinsing dishes is more work than people realize. I have electricity so it is cool and I can boil water with electric kettle by no means am I suffering it is just more work

Whether or not you believe shouldn't be important if you're a good person. I've know A LOT of so called religious people who were NOT good people. I'm glad Mark is not proselytizing because no one person is better than another because of what God they believe in.

Sebastian, some people are just never going to be able to wrap their minds around the fact that everything that happens in the universe, just happens. There's no mind behind it. No man-made concept like "god". So let them have their crutches and crosses. It's certainly better than heroin or just giving up. And in Marks case it inspired him to be a great activist. A *real* champion for of the forgotten. Thats gotta be a good thing, right? . .anyway thats my two cents worth! Peace. . .

If you would stop believing in god and start building a good social security system, lot of people would be better off. There is no god, there are just people.
