IOHK | A vision for blockchain in Africa

IOHK's first visit to Africa, in May 2018, began in Ethiopia. Blockchain technology is infrastructure that universally brings benefit. One of the use cases being discussed in Addis Ababa was applying the technology to the supply chain, and IOHK has signed an MOU with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Science and Technology to explore how this could be done in the coffee industry. As Ethiopia is primarily an agricultural economy, agritech is of great interest to its entrepreneurs.
Teaching people about how the technology works is important. IOHK does not provide ready-made answers to local issues, but instead works in partnership to transfer knowledge and skills to those truly equipped to make change.
IOHK will also provide a course to local developers teaching the programming language Haskell, in which Cardano is built. That will give developers the ability to build applications that they see a need for.
The second leg of the Africa trip took place in Rwanda. Charles gave a speech at the Transform Africa Summit 2018, and at the Impact Hub Kigali, where people collectively had a spirit of enthusiasm about using technology to improve society.
In this video, Charles Hoskinson, CEO of IOHK, talks about the company’s vision for Africa and explains the the steps it hopes to take in the following months.

Monetary gain from investing in ADA now is an inevitable outcome imho. However, I do believe that this is more than that. This is a vision that will have far reaching worldwide impact for many years to come, the technology is there and it’s constantly evolving and improving. There are going to be ups and downs but trust in the vision and the technology behind it- and more importantly trust in Charles. Please comment on this in 5 years to hold me to this statement and see where Cardano (ADA) has ventured.

I agree whole heartedly. Sure, I might make some gains from my ADA investment, but I'm honestly more thrilled at the prospect of Cardano possibly changing Africa so much for the better that its nations finally can develop into a first-world countries! Imagine being a part of something so grand in scale that could literally change the world. Charles really knows what he's doing and you can really feel his passion when he speaks about what he wants to accomplish with Cardano. These are exciting times to be living in, and I'm sure they'll be even more exciting in 5 years and beyond!

I'm coming here in 2021 realizing this thing is for sure going to take off. What a fucking vision... I mean if if cryptocurrency won't fix all of the problems Ethiopia might have, the Cardona team appears to be so motivated to fix whatever they can economically

Recently invested in Cardano and the more i read into it the more i tend to see it as a technology that will actually change the world for better rather than to just look at profits from the token perspective, as with just about every other crypto. Decided to stake my holdings for the long run as i see a lot more potential in Charles (his vision) and his team.

I just love the attitude and passion the IOHK team. I think its time to start looking into coding Haskell.... which is very odd because i have been a VERY strict .NET developer since the age of 12, But how can we change the world if we are unwilling to change ourselves to serve it. smart contracts on their platform dont need to be written on haskell. a common misconception. it will eventually take any common programming language in its platform

My partner spent two months in Tanzania studying the socio-economic circumstances of organic, export coffee farmers. There is great verity in what Hoskinson is saying, the whole video, but to my knowledge specifically around 5:50 and the argument he develops sounds incredibly promising in a variety of ways
