Looking at this match, if I had to guess which one would win Wimbledon Juniors I would have picked Ethan who I believe beat Samir 6-1 6-4 in this match. But it was Samir who just won Wimbledon. I believe both of these players are too good for college.
@jaerjett79512 жыл бұрын
Samir is going to college, he has already committed. He has never made it past the second round of a Futures, and never played in a Challenger or 250 at all, largely because of his injuries over the past year. No one can assume who does and who doesn't have the financial backing to turn pro, but he needs to go to college to further develop into a player who can realistically play the pro tour. And Stanford is not the school to do it given how Axel Geller and many of Paul Goldstein's other highly touted recruits ended up not improving (Tom Fawcett and David Wilczynski DID improve a lot). He should have stayed committed to Columbia, which doesn't produce pros either but was able to develop great college players like Winston Lin and Victor Pham. I feel the same about Nishesh as well, who is going to be at Stanford next year with Samir. And Ethan enrolled early at Georgia but has red-shirted. I do think he's going to return to the G in the fall, but not sure how long he stays. I personally like Ethan's game more than Samir's since it's more offensive, and the days that a defensive player can sustainably win majors are gone. I don't know if Georgia was a better decision than say LSU or Mississippi State for Ethan, but I can see why he chose Georgia.
