Iowa women's basketball star Caitlin Clark was surprised with the news that she is the AP Player of the Year during a recent visit to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. Clark is the second woman in Big Ten history to have more than 2,000 points, 550 assists, 520 rebounds, 110 steals and 40 blocks.

I am a 65 yrs old man who never cared for womens basketball. This young woman has captured me just like she has so many girls out there. I just can not get enough of her. She is wonderful for sports period and I think little boys love her as much as little girls. Amazing

@@donald8354 I am 71 and love to watch women's college basketball. Paige Bueckers got me hooked in her high school years and I followed her into college and got to know Clark through that.

This girl has done more to raise the profile of womens basketball than anything that has ever happened for the sport. I am an older male, never had a interest in womens basketball and neither have any of my friends, but because of Caitlin we have become fans and I'm sure there are many more like us.

I am a fan from the Philippines. I don’t even follow Philippine basketball anymore but I watch CC’s games on YT. She is amazing on and off court. The team is amazing as well, couldn’t have been possible without them.

I love Caitlyn and I love how incredible she is…. I’m a Penn State alumni and I think your relationship with that hospital is an awe inspiring thing… I’m a 67 year old male and it brings tears to my eye when I see Hawkeye’s nation supporting those poor kids with cancer. My daughter’s name is Kaitlyn so maybe I followed her a bit more than I may have, but geez, once watching her…. AMAZED!!!

I’m from NC and a life-long male 66 year old Duke fan ( and alum, and yes there were a lot of lean years as a Duke fan) who has been a Hawkeye fan the last few weeks. I love watching this young lady hoop. Wow.

Congrats to Caitlin, the whole team and coaching staff! For a few other States, take notes on how Iowa rolls and the class their players, fans and residents display! I'd bet anything that Caitlin goes back to the childrens hospital after the season. She just seems like she was raised to be "that person", besides being a phenom athlete!

Well earned and deserved she has had an incredible season and a great college career. Caitlyn and Aliyah Boston are the face of NCAA Women’s’ College Basketball and it’s a great look for the sport with 2 amazing athletes at the forefront of the sport. Big fan, just awesome news for Iowa and Caitlyn Clark. Been a great college hoop season, kind of sorry to think it will end next week.

Wow, this almost made me cry. I have never, ever liked girls basketball. I first noticed girls bb when UConn's paige buecher had a great freshman year start. That led to my discovery of Caitlyn, who grabbed my attention from day one and my fandom has grown ever since. Its the way she plays and her personality. Its her family, backstory, her current team. She is my perfect player. Congrats Ms. Clark, you truly are a genetational player/person.

Sports are NOT just about strength. Tennis great Hingis comes to mind. Top ice skaters and gymnasts aren't the strongest. Clark (and her amazing teammate Czinano) are ESP magic and inspired me too for sure!

I am 37 years old and became an assistant coach for the Carroll 🏀 team in 2022 and decided to follow someone like you that has made women's basketball possible for a lot of people like young girls. I was a manager for high school all four years and dreamed of becoming a coach at the college level and made my dream come true in 2022 and going into my third year. No, Caitlyn has WAY surpassed Paige now. With Paige hurt, the media bias towards UConn was no longer in effect. And Caitlyns play in the tournament made it a wrap that she, not fragile Paige, was the best player in all of college basketball. And quite possibly a generational player to lead women's basketball to great heights. Tough break for Paige though. Sports always needs a 2nd fiddle though.
