4 years of playing these songs in the marching band. Get me in the feels everytime I hear them now. Knowing I’ll never play them on the field of Jack Trice again.

It was when I sat down in Hilton for my graduation and looked at the program that I first learned that we had this song called "The Bells of Iowa State" and that it was some sort of official song. I'd never heard it before and had no idea of the words. I don't think any of my fellow graduates did, either. So we all gamely sat there and struggled to sing the words (that were listed in our program) to a tune we'd never heard before.

The fight song? Yes, I've known the words to that since I was 3 years old. But never before (or since) graduation have I ever heard of this "Bells of Iowa State" song.

For football, the band plays it in the pre-game show, right after the National Anthem, and usually plays it after the game is over (sometimes sings it). For basketball games, they usually sing it.

It's what the student section sings when it's played. Not official lyrics by any means. Just some shenanigans from drunk teenagers lol
