would love to see a workshop flow kind of video , or multiple repairs combined in one long video. i know it takes a long time to edit and you don't have that time , but im hoping for that day to come. would actually rather watch a video like that than a Netflix series or a movie. keep up the good work as always.

I’ve watched quite a few of your repair videos, but they continue to be highly enjoyable. I love what you’re able to do with good flux and low melt solder.
@robertpage2023
@robertpage2023 2 жыл бұрын
"but"!!??? That is a contradictory conjunction word used to denote a change in the sentence's theme. "I like to chop off the heads of mice "but", I don't like to hurt little animals" is an example of that. So which is it? You "watch his videos" BUT "they continue to be highly enjoyable". OK, maybe you should have said, "I've watched quite a few of your repair videos AND they continue to be highly enjoyable" MUCH BETTER don't you agree? OK, so glad to help out with your grammatical needs Sir. Come back anytime as I am usually here..............waiting......................with nothing to do.............................Bye!

the key to this job as he says is putting the solder on top of the connector, TO LOOSEN the connector. if you didn't get why, he said it in the video, the solder apple uses is LEAD FREE. The LEADED solder Alex is using has a lower melting point. so when the hot LEAD solder comes into contact with the LEAD FREE solder, it all melts and mixes, and thus lowers the melting point of the APPLE solder, and thats why you add solder to loosen solder. apologies if im out of place, just thought that was an important piece of info that some may get confused on. Im loving these videos

If you have a micro camera then look for any obvious spots like "burned" or discolored components especially CAPS and MOSFETS. (No, micro camera.............then use a good magnifying glass and LED light source) IF not then hook up some power to the board and IF you have a heat camera then look for the hot spots. OH, you should have tested for shorts also in the beginning. Remember that a bad component might be on the other side of the board or away from the shorted area. The Northridge "rosin tester" is a good way to find bad components if you don't have a heat camera. AND you can put alcohol on a component with power hooked up to see if it evaps quickly from the heat. Using a slow and methodical process using these steps will get you to a conclusion of the problem. Then comes the fun of removal and replacement. Following Mr. Alex's tutorials on component removal (being careful that there are no other components that might melt under solder iron or heat gun near by which you can use aluminum foil to cover) de-soldering and re-soldering using his low melt solder and copper wick method, and then finding the exact matching component and then re-soldering it back on the board will make you an EXPERT. REMEMBER to FLUX, FLUX, FLUX, whenever removing a component. You might even heat some low melt solder on the component as well to mix with the original solder to make it an easy removal. Also the diagnosis and repair of the board's damaged pads is essential. Using either CAD6 or CAD 5 wire to make new pad circumvents is a great idea as well. Tools like micro tweezers, micro solder tips, heat gun with adjustable heat and the power adjustment source are all essential in making your repairs just as "better than factory" as Alex makes them look so easy to do. It's basically surgery. Remember the game, " Operation"? Yeah, just like that only more micro. ZZZZZZZit~ OUCH!!
