The mini five also aged better. It still supports iPadOS 17 whereas the mini four got dropped with iPadOS 16.

I got my ipad mini 4 last year and I’m happy with it. I use it for one game (which seems like it doesn’t need high specs), internet search, youtube, SNS and etc, but its still good. My brother got the new ipad and I thought to myself that I should’ve waited and gotten the newest version for a second, but when I think about the things I do with the ipad, mini 4 is sufficient.

I replaced an original Mini with a Mini5. I love it. I ordered a case from Amazon and wondered why there was an extra hole? The microphones, thx. So many new cases may be iPad Mini 4/5 cases.

I tried to form the ipad mini4 case on my mini5 and also didnt formed well on the camera the result was bad so dont try to take the 4 case for ipad mini 5 you wont like it but if you thing you can cut it well try it why not the deference on the price is big

THANK YOU!! for being the ONLY comparison video out there that acknowledges AND SHOWS, not one but *TWO* microphone holes on BOTH models, and WHERE the TOP one was relocated to on the 5th gen model. Not a single comparison video showed where the TOP (edge) hole was located. In fact, most didn’t even know the Minis even HAVE two mics. The skin I bought only has one hole in the back, but it’s not picking up sound well. And I wasn’t about to peel this expensive skin back to trim it, unless I knew for sure there was a second hole back there, and where it is. Thank you.

The large variety of productivity/entertainment uses for the Mini demonstrates how versatile it can be. A Master of Non - But Good at a lot of stuff - Fine by me!!! I bought an iPad Mini 2 Cellular 10 years ago. I do not browse with it - I'm an adult - so I use my 14" laptop to browse and an Apple TV for viewing. After 10 years of ownership - I use my Mini almost exclusively when I "TRAVEL" - to do the following (otherwise it sits in a drawer) #1- as a GPS unit in my vehicles - the best GPS ever (70%) That's after over 150K miles of road trips - when I need a GPS around town - my iPhone works fine. #2 - as a Sidecar or mirror screen to view video paired with a M2 MBA (25%) #3 - as an eReader (4%) #4 - the odd miscellaneous task (1%) This might change with the pencil. I will likely buy the new Mini 7 when it comes out @ year end. The Mini is simply a great portable high performance device that sits between an iPhone & MBA M2 as a complimentary device.

My Griffin Survivor mini 4 fits my mini 5, even though the volume keys have moved 2-3 mm southwards. Dictation is almost accurate, even though both mics are now covered...

No the gold one is a mini 4 because it has the microphone hole next to the camera. Whereas the mini 5 does not have it there

I like how long iPads are supported. With Ipad OS it gets complicated though. You have a 2017 pro with an a10 & a 2019 a10x chips. But the Iphone 7 is from 2016. So its weird to think the 2019 ipad will get support for 5 years? But the iPhone 7 wont.

@@arib621 idk its just feels apple is under utilizing power in the new iPhones I mean a basic 12 mode has 4gbs of ram also a 3ghz 11 tops chip that is a 16 core. My MacBook isn’t even that fast. Ever since 2017 the iPhone has internally looked the same. Also acts the same. I understand that to give all phone support. But since the X model we really should not be on 12. We have had the smallest upgrades in terms of “new features”. I think deep fusion is a nice feature for newer phones. But the fact they hold the screen brightness back on 12 models is bs. Apple is becoming to misleading & shady.

@@jamesrwarzyniak3190 laptop is a computer device, iPhones are Phone. Phone dont need many ram, ghz, since they're small devices, while the laptop is bigger and needs more storage, ram, Ghz and much more

@@arib621true, but you need those higher end specs to run programs. So the ipad pros can run certain programs not apps. Thanks to those specs, and its the same specs in the iPhones. A computer doesn’t need as much power as one would think. I have an m3 powered macbook and its Lightning fast. The processes in phones or ipads are more complicated then a laptop. Theres usually only 15 backgrounds tasks automatically on a macbook. A phone you cant shut them off. So the os has to be utilized to perform the same on every phone is my point. Because they support iPhone 6s which is outdated internally. If ios was able to utilize 3gbs for the os it be faster. But since that didn’t happen till 2017, we wont see a big improvement till ios 16 is my point. Thats why I said apple is under utilizing its power, in new iPhones. Ipads are on a different level taking advantage of every piece of hardware iphones are not. Look at samsung phone compared to an iPhone. I mean come on. I love apple but I expect the specs to be used. Ios 14 should not crash or freeze with the hardware given. But like I said its being used on 2015 iPhones. All them old phones need to go this year. Because I essestianlly could have stuck with an iPhone 8plus and have the same experience. Thats why im mad about it.

Markus Williams Depends what you do with your mini. I use complex maps that were clumsy in use on my mini 4 but now refresh real fast.

I'm not sure why, but it really bothers me they didn't make it a Display like the iphone X or iPad pro. Probably to keep the cost down but it still botheres me it still has a button. :)

For me, everything was wrong from the start... outdated design, no 128gb available anymore for this 5th gen. No front facing speakers etc... Upon purchase, it took literally one hour to fall in love with it, forgetting the outdated design, prioritizing the fact that this form factor is simply divine, it really is. It has become my best On the Go companion for many things and many apps usage (Lumafusion, Procreate, Garageband, Musemage etc...) And It works perfectly well with the Logitech Crayon, and the use of a Sandisk iXpand Flash Drive for extra storage will save the day.

Exact same! I'm only now considering after it got a small crack today, but the gradually slower speed is really bugging me after a while. I've even stopped upgrading my iOS because of speed (, though that may be to still support older apps also)

Have the mini 4 for 4 years now. When i heard the mini 5 was coming out i was soo excited.....until 1: no usb-c 2: same 7th gen design 3: first gen pen There is no reason to upgrade. Updated specs are cool, but is nothing that really matters to me. The updated processor is cool but my mini 4 is doing fine. Never used the mini 4's cameras. Screen of the mini 4 is still usable, not missing much from the 4.Don't care for updated wifi or bluetooth the mini 4, again is doing just fine. "Guess" this would be a good upgrade for mini's older than the 4. Wow though. I love the idea of smaller yet "still" powerful tablets. No company not even Apple can do it. Pathetic

Mr. Failure USB-C is nice, but not if you have Lightning-only microphones and adapters worth a tidy fortune. And is USB-C more durable? Not on my experience.

@@hughmnyks o wow. I actually have never heard too much of type c cables being unreliable. Sorry to hear that. But for what its worth my cables are from OnePlus. Not sure if you have seen those before but there pretty hefty...⏸️😂😅 All my oem Apple lighting port cables are shredded. Apple makes garage cables. Actually it's wasnt until recently i found a cable thats like my OP ones! And it this cheap one from Target 🤷🏾‍♂️ THAT ACTUALLY CHARGES MY IPAD. Anyway my 4 is still going strong. I'm not an apple fan but i feel like they made the best choice for the screen sizes of the mini's. Thats why i got the mini 4. The 5 is...just not an improvement. All this extra money for "adapters" and slight improvement is not worthy of my hard earned money 🙅🏾‍♂️.

Paul Apple was just selling the mini 4 at full MSRP earlier this year. I don’t think they’d drop support months later. If anything, the A7 devices will get dropped this year.

Puneet M actually after awhile you won’t be able to run apps because those apps will only support a certain level of updates, I recommend the iPad mini 3.
