I believe they are possible bringing gta 1 or 2 to the arcade machines in gta online because rockstar have recently updated the pegi rating for it to 16. So they might be rereleasing the game as an arcade game in gta online.

I remember talking my mum into getting this game by telling her it was educational. I was in the middle of a kill frenzy in the dead of the night and my dad comes down and watches me playing the game. I told him it was a driving simulator and was driving around carefully until I accidentally hit a pedestrian, luckily my dad bought the bait when I told him that I’d have points deducted for that accident 😂

I remember playing this Game after work and telling my younger brother how it would be awesome if they made this game in 3d But how we couldn't imagine how much cpu power it would take... Then gta3 comes out... Holy crap

1997, my classmate had this game on PC and we've spent entire weekends on stealing cars and shooting pedestrians. The fact that there was finally a game that enabled you to be a criminal instead of the stereotypical good guy, was revolutionary. This game is really a piece of digital history, eventually spawning the most successful gaming franchise ever.

It’s insane how ingrained the imagery and sound are to me. This is honestly the first time I had seen gameplay since playing it back in like 2006 and I still remember certain areas, almost every car model and the pay phones

We remember GTA 1 as a simplified, old generation game but compared to other top down games, this game had great features and graphics and hardly any repetitive scenery. It wasn't like you were driving past the same shrub or wall every 5 yards. It's quite an immersive experience.

When I was like 10 years old, I was playing the demo, that allowed you to play for two minutes. Then a friend of my brother came along with 17 diskettes that had the full version. The whole installation process and following gameplay made this one of the best days of my life.

Second city has tank at top left but you need get car or bike jump over fence from building. When you get in tank, then the fence will open for your tank:

I found one legitimately without cheating. I was going to ram my car off a long pier to kill myself quickly, but then found an invisible bridge which took me to an island of tank. Think it was a different map though.

When gta 2 came out it thought that was awesome. Then gta 3 came out and my jaw DROPPED. I couldn't comprehend wh as t I was looking at I was in awe. Then all the controversy started happening in the media which made younger me think the game was even cooler. My friend and I would spend entire days and nights playing GTA 3 and just seeing all the potentially bad things we could do. So much laughter sniping people's dogs off and watching them hop around. Ahh, to be young again and play the first 3d GTA ever

lol still one of my favourite games of all time. The soundtrack is kickin and I love how the camera zooms up and down over the buildings as you drive, it creates a really cool effect, makes it more kinetic and alive. You can definitely see all the basics of the GTA series here, including those irate pedestrians yelling "asshole!" lol

I remember middle school+highschool flare about III and IV but didnt play GTA IV til 2023😅 Can't believe that game is 15y.o. and cant believe no one ever mentioned to me how gorgeous the song selection is on the in-game radio. Literally just turn the xbox somedays to listen to it, while doing some other stuff😂(then go do something quick in game, a shame when the car disappears sometimes mid-mission, i like going back to the same radio station when i am on that mood)

only horrid part about this game on PC when I played it was there was no way to save - you basically had to leave the game running, or start again.... but wow, the memories this video brought back :D

The game that began a huge franchise and inspired Cyberpunk 2077. Back in the day when this game came out it was revolutionary. No other game allowed me to feel the freedom like a complete gangster messing up everything in society and the thrill of being chased by cops. These games were not just games, they were real life.

@@princeslewis It's kind of sad isn't it? In Cyberpunk you can shoot a car and the driver will usually just sit there. 26 years ago GTA had drivers that would run if you shot at their cars, lol!

I remember playing this back in college. It’s amazing to see how far the game franchise has come. Although this game is much simpler, the basic gameplay premise is there and it was just as engaging. You can also see the same tone- a snarky, cynical sense of humor is present here that also continued into the later games.

Dank Dank it’s actually better. At least the GBA screen was widescreen and by then Rockstar knew what to do with top down views. This is upscaled 640x480 in 4:3.

I still remember how my brain actually rendered this into 3d inside my head back in 1997. SO while playing it I imagined how that world would really look like. Like playing Lego or Playmobil as a kid....
