60Hz is hard to look at on such a nice large screen
Excellent haptics! Very strong and crisp
Big notch is an eye sore :(
No fingerprint sensor (masks)
TrueTone display is an excellent feature!
Finally a resolution upgrade to FHD+
15W magsafe charging, but 7.5W charging with all other Qi chargers
Battery is basically the same as last year despite the better display and smaller physical battery
I like the not PRO model better for fingerprints on the side
But the pro model looks nicer
MAGSAFE RANT: A Wired Wireless Charging Situation
Self-alignment is the initial observation and assumed benefit… BUT then it defeats most of the wireless charging benefits
It is basically wired charging
Fixes the common complaint that you cannot hold your phone while it is charging
Requires almost exactly as much effort as wired charging
Cannot just place your phone down and pick it up like I enjoy doing with normal wireless chargers (on my desk, bed stand, etc.)
Placement is convenient
No wire on the right side might be better for watching media while using
Prepping for a portless iPhone in the future
Charges through most cases
Why would you want a removable wallet?
I thought the whole point of a wallet attached to your phone was so you never have to remember to put it in your pocket

I came from the 7 and when I turned it on after 2 weeks to wipe it and give it to a co-worker I could not believe how crappy it seemed in comparison. It's crazy. I love this thing.

The reason why I changed from a 7 Plus to my current 12 Pro Max is because the battery was horrible and there were issues with the charging port after getting it fixed from the audio IC problem . It still works perfectly fine, but I was sick with the charging problem and the battery life

Tip: i added suction caps stick-on to the magsafe charger and made my life so much better. I can stick it on my table if i want to. I can hold it while using if i want to. You're welcome!

I think the MagSafe charger makes for a great bedside charger. It clips onto your phone with ease in the dark while still allowing you to hold your phone while it’s charging. Apart from that, I can’t think of too many benefits other than car mounts maybe

Had the 12 pro max for 3 months and the phone was great but the weight of the phone i started having issues with pain in my hands (have arthritis) and the size was just to big to carry on my bike or pockets. So i gave a try to the regular 12 before i get the 13 pro . Love the phone . Only complait the screen light. If you use the phone outside during a sunny day you can see a huge difference of light of the backscreen versus the pro max. Pro max i had no problems reading outside the 12 i will have to get use to it.

Coming from an iPhone 6s, these ‘problems’ are really minor. I’m really happy with my iPhone 12. I don’t even use wireless charging, i didn’t want to buy a €40 charger, but still uses the charger from my old iPhone. Still works like a charm.

I feel like mag safe charging is a pain when taking your phone off. Like might as well just fast charge using a cord. The only way id use it is if the puck is glued to my tablet lol

Great video Mike! In regards to the Magsafe case, you mentioned that you don’t know the benefits of the Apple magsafe case. The magsafe case purpose is not to hold it onto the phone exclusively, you need a magsafe case in order to utilize the magsafe wireless charger and magsafe accessories such as the wallet, hence the magnets within the case itself. Oridinary non magsafe cases will not work with these Apple accessories.

I don't use cases either. Well, only during winter when wearing gloves and glass becomes too slippery. It's a beautiful phone and one of the reasons I'm buying it is for it's design. I don't want to hide that.

I’m listening to music 6-7 hours every day, spend 2-3 hours browsing, games etc, it rarely drops below 55% by the time I get home. On the other hand navigation sucks the battery like a premium escort 😬

Wireless charging is nothing once you've experienced over 50W wired charging. Plus, you can still use your phone while charging, just like magsafe. And a stiffer USB C connector might just save your phone from hitting the ground should it slip and fall.

It's tough to understand why they stilllllll haven't improved the refresh rate on what is one of their top phones . Idk if they do it on purpose but they just lack some of these top end features . Kind of shows when you compare it to another flagship . Great review pointing everything out . Very thorough and fun to watch

They tested that a lot earlier this year, but they found out that 120hz is not ready to be implemented into the iPhone 12 due to battery life concerns. There are rumors that 120hz will come next year (take this with a huge grain of salt!), so if people want a 120hz iPhone, 2021 might be the year of the first iPhone with a ProMotion display.

I’ve never tried 120 Hz. I always wonder whats what point of it? Correct me if in wrong, Most apps have max frame rates of 60. And if you are gaming for example with 120 Hz the Cpu and Gpu aren’t powerful enough to push to 120 Fps

I think it’s in your settings, the phone automatically saves the HDR one and the one that isn’t. Just look in your pictures settings you’ll be able to unable this feature :)

@@khaledhamdy414 I’ll give an answer in case that is your question. The battery in the 12 is definitely an improvement from the 7. I can get through the whole day without charging it. Sometimes I forget to charge it overnight, and I can get through the morning with it when that happens.

I gotten my IPhone 12 on release date. I’ve experienced about 3 major bugs. A new one happen as recent as last night. The phone kept blacking out like going to sleep in 2-3 seconds instead of my original 2 minutes set. But I restarted the phone and it stopped. It only started doing this while I was in the photos app. And another bug I had was different but had to do with the camera app too. So I wonder if they are connected.

Newer phones are usually glitchy. They need a couple days to boot up fully and work their kinks out. Are you still experiencing those problems?

in my opinion i don't see any difference between mag safe charging and general cable charging. when charging you pick up cable along with your phone in both case. so use benefits depend on the cable length i guess. what would you say is the prime benefit of mag safe charging?? 🤨

My hands are kinda small, I really like the 12 mini and I have one but I wish I could try both of them for a few days and then pick but I went with the mini. It’s a great size and I can reach everything with one hand so it’s very convenient. Still wish I could stop thinking of the what if’s haha. It doesn’t feel too big? I’m not into ‘huge’ phones, I feel like the ‘mini’ is normal size just because people are used to big ones nowadays

😒 people who have galaxy s20, 1) should not upgrade their phone.. the s20 is great and new. 2) probably aren’t thinking of getting an iphone. And 3) the 60hz refresh rate is not weird 😒. It’s perfectly fine for human eye and the technology for higher refresh rate screens is half baked for now (you have to choose high refresh rate, battery life or high resolution).

I got an iphone 12 pro max having a S20, because I received a good contract offer. 60hz is not a dealbreaker, I have it disabled on Samsung coz I mostly watch videos, text, video call, that does not require 120hz. Both are very smooth, I still use both phones. 😍

@@chuck7415 that's called a battery case and they are not slim because of the battery size not because the manufacturers have problem attaching it to the phone. So not sure how Magsafe helps there

@@MikeOBrienMedia Iphone 12 red and series 6 watch 44mm black stainless steel :D I will miss the 90hz on the pixel but the watch is an upgrade from my Garmin Vivoactive 4 and the phone was a £0 upgrade from the Pixel, which I can now sell on. Magsafe may be cool but the other day my airpods died and I charged them with reverse wireless charging with my Huawei and honestly that was the coolers thing ever. Also the ir sensor which I can control literally any TV, AC... Its these little things that meter the most to me

The main use case for magsafe is you can use your phone whilst charging. With a traditional wireless charger your very limited. Worth mentioning this point.

If you want to use the phone while charging, doesn't the cable already serve the purpose? Given that you need to do the similar "unplug" procedure when using magsafe?🤔 Using the cable to charge also charge faster with less heat generated 🤔

I learned the hard way that the phone supports two lines, but I didn't want two lines. Now I'm stuck with a secondary line turned off and disconnected phone number. But I can't erase the number off the phone. I'm afraid to try to get rid of it as I don't think it is on the e-sim. This first time I tried, intuitively doing what Apple said to do; it didn't work. So nice feature, but a horror to get rid of if you accidentally activate it and don't want it.

Lol, I feel you bro in Red. I think only 2 light colours, one which he has (mint) and the white one will hide the fingerprints that well as he described, otherwise it’s a horrible mess, recommend to slap a case ASAP

I sold my iPhone 12 and came down to SE 2020 for many reasons. Mainly... touch ID and phone size. I did get the Mini too but the touch ID is so much important these days due to covid. Mini feels too small and uncomfortable in hand. SE is better sized.

Don’t use the MagSafe over the USB C to lightning. 15W doesn’t mean anything wirelessly, the USB C is considerably faster especially with a 20W wall brick

Yes, the trade-off for a more shatter-resistant glass is that it scratches a lot easier. Definitely use a case/screen protector.

Im gonna upgrade cause i do a lot of school work on my phone so having more ram will be so useful. but the cameras on the 12s are infinitely better than any phone older than the 8. so if youre unsure you could always go with the 11 being its still very good

I agree great video, magsafe needs a stand and apple should be ashamed it doesn’t come with charging brick for the price. I got the Belgian car mount and I enjoy having it the most for MagSafe. It also starts at 15w but throttles down soon after and is pretty slow. If Apple is going to get rid of the port they need faster wireless charging. I easily kill my battery in my 12 and need to top it up but use my phone a lot. That being said, I never had to top up my 11 pro max. I saw no reason personally to get a pro model this year, the value was in the regular 12 even with the price increase. I was holding out for 120hz on pro’s but when they didn’t add it saw no reason to get it.

5 days after bought, and the last day i have no pockets so i put in my sling bag and... the screen already chipped....fckin depressed man. My fault that i didnt get screen protector earlier but really? 5 days..i throw my s9+ in the same bag for 2 years without any screen protector and its still flawless.

Get a thin slim case from spigen. Don’t even use a screen protector and you would have been just fine. They like 11 bucks

That unbalanced round awkward thing I agree glue it that round pain in the a** but use permatex rtv silicone winshield glue its clear rubbery comes apart with a slight pry and the leftover on table use your fingers back and forth it’ll remove like a pancake and not remove paint or wood from table top.
