Here's my camera test of iPhone 12 Pro Max vs iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone 12 Mini - there were some major surprises in this one. The Pro max didn't perform as I hoped, and Mini was punching above its weight class! after watching the video and i would say if anyone just wants camera the mini would be enough. but i like big phones so i would prefer the pro max, but i dont use iphones, im looking to get the dxomark number 1, huawei mate 40 pro. that phone has the best dynamic range its crazy.

For real man, I have an s10 plus and one friend of mine has an iphone 8 and it's so nice to hold it in hand, as you said it's addictive😂😂 bet the 12 mini feels even nicer, I really can't decide between the 12 mini and the 12 pro

I have small hands so I was pleasantly surprised when I hold my friend's iphone 7. It feels so good to carry a smaller sized phone. Really tired having to do finger gymnastics if I'm not using my two hands 😂

Exactly. I miss the old flip phones and the smallest phone I have atm is my Samsung s9 but with a case the thing is HUGE. forget pockets. It already fell out of one and smashed! Ugh.

Brilliant comparison that gives an honest opinion about what most people want to know without any exaggeration or hype. The methodical way you do your testing and the different aspects of the phone performance that you cover that are often neglected by others (no other reviewer that I've seen mentioned the sound syncing issue, for example) are much appreciated.

Really great review, but I did notice that you showed the battery from 12 Pro and 12 Mini, 12 Mini had lower screen brightness and that could be why they were at the same 80 percent.

Excellent review, thank you so much! I've been between the 12 mini and pro, but after dealing with the 6S+ for years, I just can't take the size anymore. I was concerned about battery life, and camera quality but your review has me leaning towards the Mini again.

Got the mini couple weeks ago and haven’t looked back! Glad apple made the perfect size phone and didn’t compromise on any features. Even the battery life is decent if you’re not gaming or heavy editing.

Thanks for the great comparison. Strange that the allegedly 43% bigger sensor and the sensor stabilization on the Pro Max appears to make no difference in picture/video quality.

Thanks for taking my doubts about the cameras!! I was very confused because I love the size 12 mini, but I was always thinking about the 12 pro cameras.... And personally the size of iPhone its a big deal because i have the SE (1º generation) and it's a huge difference between the recent models comparing to mine. Excellent review, now I can say that I will definitely buy the 12 mini.

Did you film all these clips in HDR? When I use my 12 pro max to shoot in HDR, and then transfer to my computer to edit, it looks terrible, compared to how it looks playing directly from the phone. Also having other video quality issues in general like popping in the audio lots of noise in certain shots

Uh i don’t get why there is too less views - this guy is fantastic and super honest in his video review - I watched too many videos on mini and pro - until this video I wasn’t able to make a decision on if I should go with mini or pro. Thanks for your honest review. After having the pro max since November, it was too heavy and felt uncomfortable to hold, I bought the mini. I am happy with it. I live the lightness, easy to hold, texting is not a problem, pictures are great. I’m sorry I spent so much money on the pro max.

Great comparison. Mini is a great choice. I still have my se, fits pocket and one hand very well. The 12 pro screen was set brighter than the other two so maybe 80% battery life left in the end of the test is a bit harsh 😉

Very well done test and comparison. There might be a case to go for the Max version perhaps when a real video/camera pro wants to shoot in raw/dng? Is it a software issue with Apple who is not pulling all the details a max sensor and optics can deliver? I own an a 12 Pro and didn't go with the Max because it is too large and the benefits are minimal.

I agree about your gripe regarding the max's display. Everything is just magnified its like they just made it for a huge person. They should add a choice to scale everything down to fit more content. Too much wasted space

Now that was one excellent comparison thanks! I'm not into iPhone's (yet LOL) but my wife is so bought her the Pro, she's coming from a 6S Plus so should be a substantial upgrade for sure. If I were to jump ship think I'd opt for the mini too as phone's these days (imo) are getting too big and unwieldy.

Hey Ben, love your content and hope you have time to see this. What do you use to edit then render video you get from the iPhone? I have an iPhone 12 and I am extremely disappointed in the video I am getting out of it. I honestly feel my Oneplus 7T looks better, not satisfied with the video straight out of the phone at all

Thx for that review! I wanted to know: I want the mini for my little hands but, is the 12 have the same portrait option than the 12 pro? On the X series the Xr didn’t have all that option. It’s that option will make my choice clear. Thx!
