I upgraded from iPhone XR to iPhone 15 Pro Max 😍 I’ve been loving it since then this will be my phone for 7 years 😍

I am still using the 13 Pro Max for all the reasons you expressed. It was a big step up from the 12 Pro Max and the 14 and 15 PM just did not offer anything compelling to move up. I also travel a bunch but I have the travel bag of cables and chargers to deal with different generational tech in Hotels and rental cars. Always in the backpack so I can pull out what I need at the time.

I upgraded to a 15 pro max from a 13 pro. I love this phone. The battery, screen size, action button, camera, weight, everything. Honestly, I could take or leave USB C. I end up spending more time looking at what cables I have now, but charge with MagSafe almost exclusively. Love this upgrade!

I bought my first iPhone 14 Pro Max in June and I already upgraded to the 15 Pro Max 2 weeks ago. It's amazing. I have no issues with it like you do LOL.

I upgraded to the 15PM from the 12PM. I’d been holding off from upgrading in the hope of a ‘ground breaking’ feature or upgrade but with how advanced smart phones are now I don’t think that will ever come! Very happy with my 15PM and the battery life is absolutely incredible. A huge difference coming from a 3 year old 12PM.

I recently purchased the 15pm coming from the 12 and it’s outstanding. I love being able to record pro res log 4K 60 to a ssd, and that 120mm lens is pretty crazy for a phone. I don’t upgrade yearly as it’s a diminishing returns issue. I can see why you would be annoyed at some of the things you mentioned, you’d prob feel like me though if you were coming from the 12.

I’m still happy with my 13 Pro! Hopefully the 16 Pro will be a better model than the 15’s. I’m up for an upgrade when the 16’s come out, and I’m looking to upgrade then.

I just upgraded to the 15pm from a 12pm and it’s a hugeee upgrade for me. Well mostly because my speakers stopped working a year into owning my 12pm and the back glass was shattered for 2 years and pieces just kept falling out. Time will tell how I like the 15pm but I fell inlove with my 12pm.

Great vid! I currently have the 13 Pro Max which I bought in Sept/Oct 2022 when the 14's were announced, so I'm hoping to get at least 2 full years out of it before upgrading to something else. I buy phones unlocked, so I tend to go for the prev-year model in the hopes that it is a bit cheaper (though I don't think I benefited from a price drop when I purchased).

I upgraded from the 14 Pro and the first thing I did was go to buy a handful of US-A to USB-C cables. Beyond that I haven’t had an issue and I’ve been loving the new hardware experience

I am still using my iPhone 11. I was planning to switch to 15pro, but i have one problem. My phone still working fine. I switched to Apple over 3 years ago, 11 was to check if i will like iOS. Turns out that, yes i like it. With Android phones i was changing to new one after 2-3 years of using as user experience was much worse after such time. With this 🍎 I have problem to spend money for new one while my phone is still functioning very well. So i will go with iPhone 16 Pro.

coming from 12 pro max to 15 pro max was great move phone is more light weight great to hold and battery with performance outstanding.

Regarding USB ports: Everyone complained about Lighting on the phone while ignoring the other end of the cable. USB-A ports are far more prevalent in car, hotel rooms, chargers, accessories, etc.

(macbook,ipad,iphone) I upgraded from a 13 pro to the 15 pro max, impressed by the battery life/ optimisation. chose the 15 mainly because a 13 pro max here in france goes for 150-250€ less, refurbished or new so felt the small price difference was not worth it. For reference my 13 pro 256G sold for 700€ in a market place. apple was offering 610€. thanks again.

Still rocking an 11 Pro Max with zero issues. I basically was forced to update before that because I had a 6S and the battery was losing power even while connected to a charger. I paid over $1000 for my phone when the 11 Pro Max was first released I don’t plan on upgrading unless absolutely necessary

I’m glad to have stick with the iPhone 13 Pro, having a battery replacement tomorrow after 2 years of “normal usage” and 88% right now. Strongly recommend for those with small hands like me.

I upgraded from a 13 Pro to a 15 Pro Max and I like the bigger screen size, more comfortable physical size than the previous pro maxes, but I’m disappointed with the battery life so far. I thought it would be noticeably better than my 13 and so far I don’t feel like it is.

I came from a 13 pro max and was going to wait until the 16pm because i heard it was going to be bigger, but my 13pm broke and they upgraded me to the 15pm for free and i personally love it. I might still get the 16pm as my last phone for a few years, probably won't upgrade until the 20pm if i get the 16pm. If i stay with the 15pm then i'll upgrade at the 18..

Agreed Greg! On all accounts. I would not have purchased a 15 Pro this year, however we have a baby on the way in the next few weeks and I wanted to take advantage of Spatial Photography. That seems exciting. This also gave me the opportunity to go back to the smaller phone ... the Max is just too big. So, I got a 15 Pro but I also kept my Max! Here's why ... I like playing video games on the 13 Pro Max. And since I only play games in bed at night I just keep that by the nightstand. Also ... these features are great on the 15 Pro: 1. Action Button 2. Feels so good in my hand, rounded edges and matte finish 3. Don't need a case since it fits in my hand 4. Since I don't need a case it goes in and out of my pocket fast! 5. USB-C !!! (and it's not about charging, it's about file transfer)

no regrets getting my 15 pro max , its been amazing for me from day 1 , I never had the heating issue or battery drain issues , guess I was lucky , glad I got it , won't be changing It for few years unless something completely different and amazing gets released

Somehow, I had the foresight to get a USB-C to USB-A cable for CarPlay on the very day I picked up my iPhone 15 Pro Max from the Apple store two months ago. I bought two - one for my car, and one for travel, since my rental cars like yours have USB-A ports, not USB-C. If I hadn't thought to get these cables, I would have been as frustrated as you were. I agree that the 15 Pro/Pro Max isn't an essential upgrade for most folks with a 13 or 14 Pro/Pro Max. But I'm stll glad I upgraded from my 14 Pro Max. The 15 Pro Max feels a little lighter, the weight distribution somehow makes it easier to hold, and most importantly to me, the pictures & videos I'm taking are noticeably better than the ones I took using the 14PM. Night-time pictures are way better, and the clarity from the telephoto lens is stunning. Even run-of-the-mill photos from the main camera are better, thanks to the 24 megapixel setting and the advanced image processing built into the new Pro models. But for most people, these changes will seem marginal, and certainly not worth the expense of upgrading. You are correct, the 13P/PM set a new standard that hasn't been much surpassed by the newer Pro models. The 13 Pro series was kind of like the first M-series Macbooks, and the M2 and M3 Macbooks are like the 14 Pro and 15 Pro - yes, they are a bit better, but the differences are WAY smaller than the differences between the M1 and the Intel processors from earlier Macbooks.

I rent cars every week and would say that roughly 75% are still USB-A. Newer cars have USB-C, but it’s not there just yet

I don't understand your USB C complaint at all. Even if you buy a 14 Pro Max with lightning, then get a rental car, you'll face the exact same issue since the cable will be lightning to type C, not USB A.

I have noticed the White balance really gets messed up most of the time , good camera but the inaccurate white balance is bugging me both in photo and video

Getting a 15PM soon … have the 13PM with a Pitaka Pro Car Mount which uses MagSafe. I did a lot of research and landed on a Omoton for my desk / office / home charging and Pitaka for the car. The Pitaka even cools the phone. This goes back to when I sold Blackberry Pagers, I’ve always loved the functionality of a stand that you just slap your phone or PDA in and interact with it. It’s always charged at 100% when you pick it up and you can use it for simple things like keeping track of the time. I get the point of the video though… you need to find what works and I still can’t convince other family members to use the MagSafe device in the car so there’s always these cables plugged in. But to each their own… eventually phones will be portless 🤣

Currently using the 13 Pro Max and its probably my last iPhone as Apple removed the SIM Card.

I upgraded to the 15PM last week and couldn't be happier. This is my first *personal* iPhone upgrade since the iPhone 4. 🤣 However, used subsequent iPhones for work over the past several years. 🙃

The USB C to USB C cables is a legitimate problem. Apple doesn’t sell USB A to C cables which is ridiculous.

The 13 Pro Max has been the best iPhone yet. Battery life was the best of any Pro Max- I haven’t used any of the newer “plus” models so I don’t know how they compare. The USBC issue also bothers me, and will annoy until everything eventually gets on that standard. The 14 Pro Max was a huge disappointment to me, and I ended up buying another 13 Pro Max on Apple’s refurbished site after a couple of months because the battery didn’t last as long as the 13PM. Battery health dropped 0% on my 13PM after 18 months. The 14PM lost 5% in 3 months. The 15PM is better than the 14PM, but there has not been a single feature for me that justifies what I paid. But here I am with a phone and a case, so might as well use it and have the 13PM as my backup. If I was constantly attaching peripherals to my phone, the USBC would be a plus, but I use it to communicate, consume content, take photos and do light gaming. Battery life is paramount for me because it supports all of that and I am always on the move.

I agree. I regretted upgrading from the 13 Pro. The 14 Pro is ok but I don’t see the value for me. I don’t see the 15 Pro being worth the upgrade this year. Unless you’re in need or have something older than the 13 itself.

That magsafe thing must vary phone to phone. The MagSafe on my iPhone 14 Pro was horrible compared to my 15 pro max.

The 14 pro max is the all time fave for me. Best iphone I've ever used but I refused to upgrade to the 15 pro max until what apple release this year. I'm hoping the 16 pro max ultra is going to be all complete new design otherwise I won't upgrade

Hello. I am from Scotland, UK. I bought the 15 pro max 512gb in the natural titanium finish. I paid £1350 for my phone. I have always used iPhone since the iPhone 4. Never had an issue with camera durability with any iPhone until I got the 15 pro max. I had a model with a defective cracked main lens! At first I thought it was lint. Thankfully Apple repaired it for free under my warranty. But Not a good start. Other than that the phone is amazing. Great video, thank you.

Went from the 13PM to the 14PM only for the colour. But now on the iPhone 15PM I can say it’s the best iPhone I’ve ever owned and better for my needs versus the Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra I used to try Android.

I left the number one rental company in the country in 2021 and my job was driving every kind of vehicle we had in our fleet all over my state and to surrounding states. I have to say I’m genuinely confused about your statement because my problem was the opposite. I was running into a lot of cars that only had USB-C ports. And I haven’t worked there in 2 1/2 years so I can only imagine that more cars only have USB-C I just wonder how difficult it can be to carry an adapter or an extra cable with you? That’s what I always did. I always had two cables with me in case I needed it it’s not that difficult to carry an extra cable or adapter in your bag is it I always could find a room for it. They’re not that big.

I'm coming up on 14 months with the 14 Pro Max. The only issues I've had have been iOS related, and those only minor ones. Decent phone overall. Lightening has never bothered me and the Cameras have always been satisfactory although, I will say I would like more zoom sometimes.

Last year I upgraded to a 14 pro from a 12 pro, and I’ve been loving it ever since. However, my battery health has significantly dropped since getting this phone, faster than any other that I’ve ever used. I honestly kind of regret my purchase, and I should’ve bought the 13 pro instead Even last year. I’ve heard that even the 14 pros have thermal problems and their cameras are way over sharpened and several other factors. I still love this phone, however there’s still things that needs to be sorted out and I thought the 15 pros would solve all of my problems. That being said, I think that you should seriously considering purchasing the standard iPhone 15 for review, as I believe it is such a killer value for what you’re getting. My cousin recently purchased the 15 and she tells me that there is a huge upgrade over her iPhone 11. With the 15 regular, you are getting the same screen as the pros, pretty much the same cameras, And even USB-C for everything.

I came from the iPhone 12 Pro and... I vastly prefer the photos it took compared to my 15 Pro Max now. More often than not, the HDR on the new phone is just so aggressive to me, especially on human subjects. The front camera is also a huge mess. What you see in the viewfinder and the final product are two completely different things. If the lighting isn't perfect, the photos turn out gray and washed out. 😕 Also, I know it's due to the hardware, but the increased focus distance is very inconvenient, especially in not so great lighting. Don't get me wrong, I still love this thing but, yeah, it's far from perfect to me.

You are right about the magnets. Word is, Apple engineered the magnets on the 15's to be most compatible only with new accessories. So, MagSafe products from the 14 line and older wont stick as well. In theory, if you were to get a fine-woven wallet, it will stick like a champ the magnets will feel super strong. Crappy that Apple does that and why I wont be using an Apple Wallet this year.

I had my 13 Pro Max over 3 years and it just completely stopped working. I was going to just file an insurance claim on it but Verizon was having a really, really great deal so it made way more sense to upgrade than to pay the $100 insurance deductible. I like the 15 Pro Max better, however, unless your phone is completely broken and you need a new one I do not see any reason to upgrade. Or if your cellphone provider is a having really good deal I would upgrade. It is a better phone but not THAT much better. If your iPhone 13 or 14 works perfectly fine and there’s no deals or promotions going on then absolutely just stick with what you have. You’re really not missing much. I like the new charging cable only because I work and live with Android people so if I don’t have a charger I can finally use theirs. 😂 I’ve noticed people complaining about that but people have been begging Apple to make a charger compatible with Android and when they FINALLY do it people still bitch. I like it and think it was long over due. I do still have AirPods and iPads that use the previous one but ya gotta start somewhere.

I love my 15 PM. The action button is fantastic and there’s a lot you can do with it including orientation based actions. I been beta testing some games and the performance is fantastic. Not to mention I’m happy to have USB C and only have to deal with one cable. You may have a defective phone, my MagSafe works great. Also I travel a lot and I’ve yet to run into a car without wireless car play. But I do have a small wireless CarPlay converter that I carry with me.

I'm happily still on my iPhone 14 because I usually keep a phone about 4 years. A USB-C can be convenient but I use my magsafe charger 99% of the time so my Lighting port does matter. Sometimes when I need to charge fast I still having a Lighting cable on a charger in my music room and just plug it in there. If phone prices continue to rise by time I buy another phone I'll probably get the most base model Apple makes or go back to Android where there is a lot more option when it comes to price. The Apple ecosystem is nice, but if prices keep climbing I'll give it up to save money.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max will go down as an all-time great that is STILL a beast for years to come. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is a good phone with that same potential for greatness..

Gary, I love your content and agree with you almost always. Almost. I have to disagree here. This is a great phone and USB - c was a great upgrade. Not saying you need to do your “you should buy” in it, but I do believe it’s worth the upgrade if you’re coming from a 13.

I fluctuate between Galaxy Ultra, Pixel Pro and Pro Max……..I always end up back with IPhone. There is just something slightly more premium and the integration with the watch Ultra (best Apple product ever) buds pro and Apple TV is awesome. But I really want them to start to innovate again, ai, call screening, etc etc more customisation. If they step it up they will be so far ahead of the rest it’ll be game over!
