60 vs 120hz isn’t negligible. It’s a minor upgrade, but an impossible downgrade. It’s a dealbreaker once you’re used to 120. The scam is that they put a 60hz panel in a phone that starts at $800 the base storage when even the $250 budget Androids have 120.

@@idogarala4217 you didn’t say ‘pro’, or plus sized, you said ‘model’. iphone 3gs, 4s, 5s, xs, xs max, xr… all different models. even if they didn’t all launch on release day there were different models to choose from… from the same phone. it’s always been like this and always will be, it’s not a bad thing. people chose between x or xr or xs back then, and they’ll choose between pro or pro max now.

Man, the standard 15 is actually worth the upgrade. in my opinion, due to the lackluster iPhone 14, people appreciate the regular 15 a lot more. The regular 14 just dumbed down what was great about the pro iPhone 13, but I feel like the 15 actually improves on what the 14 pro had.

Standard 15 is basically dumbed down 14 Pro as well, but since 15 Pro and 14 Pro are too similar to each other enough in 99% of specs, we all perceive 15 closing the gap with 15 Pro (it doesn't: it's just that Apple refrained upgrading 15 Pro that much from 14 Pro, while standard 15 got a windfall from 14 Pro)

A 120hz screen is the only reason I get the pro all the time. I have Samsungs that have it and will not sacrifice the snappiness of that. Other than that, the regular 15,14, or even the 13 are all great. The day they put a 120hz screen on the base models, is the day I start buying the base models.

Thank you for a very helpful video. You mentioned things that I haven’t heard on other videos - e.g. macro photography only on the 15 pro. I’m a photographer and this is super important to me. the dynamic island, the action button, the always on etc. are also very important to me. Now to locate the colour I want because I don’t want black! Thank you again!

I lock and unlock portrait orientation ALL THE TIME. I have a 14 pro so I can’t justify switching to a 15, but I wish I had the action button so that I could map the action button for a portrait orientation switch.

Great video. Thank you for sharing. A few things,first I will only use an outterbox case for my phones. They set the standard for quality and protection. Second being a senior who will NEVER do gaming,all the criteria for gaming on a phone is mute to me. I originally went for the standard 15 because of the $150 off promotion my carrier was offering. Since they were conveniently out of stock from day one I was forced to buy the 15 pro 256GB . Wasn’t happy. After having it and learning about its features and capabilities, I am so happy that I got it despite the larger price tag. This phone blows me away. It keeps getting better with every new feature I learn about. I also easily get 48 hours before charging and that’s changing from 30-33%. It charges incredibly fast. Looking forward to more videos about it.

The major reason to get a Pro model is what most reviewers doesn't mention: "Lidar Auto Focus Assistance" for shooting photo or video especially in lower lighting conditions within normal range. Lidar has been implemented throughout the modem cars as safety devices to "SEE" during driving so the ability to see and lock onto the correct subject is far more important than sensor size, image size, image stabilization, zoom range or software portrait mode feature in any camera system though they are nice to have. Unless one only take 3X~5X distance photos none of the features matters when none of the camera lenses are not able to lock focus onto the subject within normal range. Without the Lidar sensor the standard models simply straggles and misses the critical moments that may never be happens again (don't remember anyone ever praise me for a "nice blurry/out of focus shoot"!!!). The iPhone 15 Pro actually has an upgraded Lidar sensor that read with much more dense information that the iPhone 14 Pro even at 15 feet distance. Imagine what that would translate when taking photos and videos. I went from a iPhone 12 Pro to a iPhone 13 & 13 Mini and the 12 Pro locks onto the subject way faster and accurately every time than the none Pro models (more like frustrating indoor experiences). Got the 15 Pro now and back to the happy land of fast & accurate sharp images & videos. 😉

Never had any issues with that on my 15 nor have any others that I've seen. So I don't think that's a good reason to pay more for the Pro personally

@@BrandonButch Interesting, definitely not what I have experienced with these models I currently own. Even simple task like taking check photos indoor for banking deposit the Pro models always acquires the image immediately while the none-pro models will have to try few times often. When I get lazy and not willing to use my professional business equipment for personal quick FB image post the results are the same as well. You must have better luck than I.👍

This is not important. You’d know if youre familiar with photgraphy. Reason is, that due to the small sensor (and wide angle lenses), the depth of field is huge. so pretty much everything in middle distance is in focus anyway. photographers often make use of this fact when using wide angles. use a wide angle lens, stop down a little and focus on infinity, everything in a middle distance and beyond will be sharp for sure. it’s a nice to have feature but not as bif of a deal as you make it out to be

@@DDHDTV as a professional photographer who worked in camera store for years my conclusion is not the same. Often zoom lens is used even in close conditions to get a better shallow depth of field so the higher f-stop on these zoom lenses will have less available light for the sensor on the zoom lens to focus on while getting correct white balance and exposure. LiDAR's assistance is critical in this matter. Even the newer high end cameras like A7RV has replaced the LED autofocus light with LiDAR to get both the focus lock quickly and white balance correctly. Most things are repairable in a photo but not an out of focus image unless one is only relied on AI to do all the work but then, what is the point of taking photos.

@Brandon -- i have noticed that raise to wake fails at times in iphone 15+ which i got about a month and half ago. Have you come across this issue while testing and playing with the 15's ? I have tried all troubleshooting and even apple ran a remote diagnostics and everything came out clean so wanted to see if ou have heard or come across this issue ?

There are two main dealbreakers for the base iPhone 15 which prompted me to get the Pro model instead. First, the USB 2.0 speeds, despite having USB Type C. This is really slow especially if you are transferring a large number of files. Second, the 60 hertz refresh rate. Having experienced a 120hz display, I could never go back, it just feels so slow and choppy. I feel like these two factors will severely affect my experience with the phone in the long run. But if these two things don’t matter to you, then totally go for the iPhone 15, it is such a good phone. Form factor is even better than the pros imo.

Ive been using all kind of refresh rate over the year from 60-165hz. And yeah there is a huge difference between 60hz and 120hz. But i dont see myself struggling to use either of them bcs im used to all kind of refresh rate. Except for video games where the frame matter a lot and impact the gameplay experience. If you dont plan to play games on your phone 60hz is completely fine for daily use such as scrolling ig and tiktok. I dont see how it is *necessary* to hv 120hz when you are just scrolling through social media.

I don’t always keep up with the newest phones, I got an iPhone 11 when they were the latest, because I didn’t feel like shelling out for the pro max and ended up wishing I would have, but then I broke my 11 and ended back up on my iPhone 6s Plus for the past year and it’s been bothering me, so I finally put the money back and bought the 15 after getting my hands on both from friends, and honestly for my needs, the 15 was plenty close enough I don’t at all feel like I’m missing much not going for the pro.

As a person that owns other USB-C devices, I have USB-C data cables lying around all over the place (literally...I have a pile of them). Apple including just a charge cable isn't a big deal. I never even bothered taking mine out of the box.

I am looking to buy the 15 pro simply due to 120 Hz refresh rate. As a current iPhone 11 user, the 60 Hz display is just too laggy. Further more, paying an extra £200 for the latest processor compared to last years' processor on the 15 is a no-brainer.

I went from 13 pro max down to the standard 15.. for me I just don’t really use any of the features of the pro models. I’m not a gamer, not a photographer, i don’t transfer tons of a files.. I also think the action button is a gimmick. The only thing I miss slightly is the 120Hz display, but unless you use the phones side by side it’s not even that noticeable.

Me too. The action button is a good idea but its placement isn’t good. It’s easier to just press a button on the screen than use the action button that’s at the top left of your phone. I like the silent switch better as well, easier.

Brandon, the weirdest thing just happened on my iPhone 15 Pro Max when lowering the brightness from 100% I started to dammit and my screen just started to flicker like a strobe light nonstop until I hit the halfway point around 50%. I’m running 17.1.2. It was so odd.

i side-graded from the iphone 13 pro to the 15 because my carrier had a deal and i only paid 10$ for the upgrade. i wanted to get the 15 pro but the green was too sexy to pass up on. 120hz was never really an issue since 90% of my devices are 60hz anyways so im used to it.

I’ve had my iPhone 15 Pro for about a month. Anyone ever find a fix for the fact that WiFi just randomly loses connection? A google search tells me I’m certainly not the only one, but I’ve found no fix. So frustrating- I swear if it’s not one thing it’s another with newer iPhones. 🤬 TIA

Everyone hyped the whole 15 and 15pro lineup way too much. When I heard the rumors of 16pro getting larger, I knew the 15s were just an average upgrade year. There was also no camera hardware updates to the 15pro. Yes some software, but the only hardware spec came to the 15promax, 5x. I have a 13pro and a DSLR. I’m not trying to buy an iPhone for the camera every year anymore. It’s such a waste of money.

Honestly even as someone who has a reason to use the 120hz screen due to often gaming (where arguably it is most important), I don't really notice a massive difference between 120hz and 60hz. On screens as small as phones the difference isn't all that noticeable compared to TV or desktop monitors and I think it's blown way out of proportion.

iOS does a pretty good job to mask the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz I think.

I’ve seen the camera results from the 15 pro. And they are pretty disappoint still in low light. Yes 15x yes a bit sharper. But derpy blur fest in anything but less than ideal lighting. Also these things are getting pretty expensive for just a phone. Upgrading from 14pro not worth it. I’ll see what they’ll do next year again.

I agree before 17.0.3 too, my 15 pro max battery was so good it got screwed up after that point 😢The 15 pro max does not last me the whole day now and Ill probably upgrade next year if they improve battery.

@@krskadave I got mines on launch day. Was lasting 14 hours screen on time, but now only 8-12 hours. Dropped a bit after updates

It boggles my mind how Apple didn’t give the 14 pro series the option to put out 24MP photos. Literally no reason not to as they have the same hardware and processor with the base line 15 🤷🏻♀️

@@BrandonButch great content as always Brandon, I feel like people appreciate the standard iPhone 15 a lot more due to the disappointing iPhone 14. compared to the iPhone 14, the 15 took what was great about the iPhone 14 pro and just improved on it. I am unable to appreciate the iPhone 14 because it took what was great about the iPhone 13 Pro and just dumbed everything down.

What if you're coming from an android phone? Only reason I'm even coming to iPhone is to facetime with family quickly, but I've always been an android person. The always on display is something Samsung(android) has had for some time and is an amazing feature

You are actually the first I've seen that claim the battery life on the 15 Pro is the same as the base model. I've heard of people going from the 13 Pro to the 15 Pro and claiming they now have to charge two time a day instead of just with the old model. So I'm a bit confused

You can watch the battery test, in all of them the pro die quite before the 15, some say it’s probably because of the 120hz, also the battery size is smaller on the pro like wtf? 3367 for the 15 and 3290mah for the pro????? I don’t ever remember a pro having a smaller battery, the point of the pro was always “bigger battery, better e camera” etc. I want a smaller phone (have the 12 pro max now) but am afraid to go to the pro because of the battery, but also wanted the fast port to use external drives and the better camera…

I've watched tons of iphone 15 reviews. No one talks about the front and back camera issues where it post processes the images into dark, blurry and grainy! (the processed image is totally different than what you see on viewfinder) I have iphone mainly for the camera and the image quality the it delivered for the price i paid is so disappointing.

If anyone can help me here, i'm so confused. Should I get the 14pro that costs more than the 15? Or should I just get a 13 pro max. I wanted to get 14pro because I like the dynamic island so much but don't want to get the 15 because people say the 14pro is still better. 13promax gets in the mix because maybe it's worth it too? I came from 11pro

For the average person..maybe. But between not being able to run all the games, not being able to shoot more stabilized video, not be able to do macro shots, no AOD, no higher refresh rate, slower USB-C transfer rates, and something you didn’t even mention…no Thread radios for home automation in the base 15s, it’s gotta be Pro for me. There’s just too much missing on the base models.

@@MA-xd9zl Probably because they have more room to fit a larger battery inside the chassis without the extra features of the Pro. So they do rather than just leaving it empty space.

After using the 120hz display, I tried using my sisters 15 with the 60hz. I can never go back to base iPhone unless they get the 120hz

Nice video! Just got my green iPhone 15 for a good price , my First Apple phone, before i had a one plus 8 for a long time now, got to say i really love this phone, The 60hz is not that bad for me, thank god😂 its a really good phone and it looks and feels great. Change to ios is not really a problem at all.

After 2 months of use iPhone 15 and 35 battery charges, my battery is still at 98%. Does anyone else have a similar experience? The phone was bought in the US and the charger is 20w. Thanks :)

The pro is nice but I'm loving the 15 plus! The big screen is a game changer and agree the bright screen is so easy to read even in full daylight. The only thing I don't love about the i Phone 15 Pro Max is the price as I don't want to spend 75% of what a 2024 MacBook pro cost so opted for the 15 Plus this time.

I priced a base 15 and 15 pro. They charged me more for an unlocked phone putting it less than $80 from the base 15 pro. I can skip Starbucks and get a 15 pro for the difference. The video with differences was helpful.

The most significant issue with the iPhone 15's camera is overlooked by all reviewers. With models 14 and 15, third-party apps are unable to autofocus the camera. Thus, the majority of well-known apps, including Google Translator, WhatsApp, Adobe Scanner, etc., do not support in-app cameras. They just take blury not focused photos.

Apple claims that third-party developers should take this into account and that it is not a bug. because the way autofocus functions has been changed. However, I'm angry because I'm frequently using Google Translate camera to translate text. Moreover, it doesn't appear that it will be fixed anytime soon..@@seklerek

@@sandorszabothe macro is the problem, as because they have the big sensor it’s unable to focus on closer objects with the main camera, therefore the stock photo app uses the ultra wide for it, but many apps cannot switch as OP pointed out. Eg with Photomath I get annoyed a lot, because I can’t get a photo of my paper from a normal distance 😅

I’d pick the base 15, just because its design is way friendlier than the pros. I’d miss the telephoto though. And idc about the missing 120Hz. I’m currently using my phone on battery saver, which means it has switched back to 60Hz and at first it was laggy to my eyes, but you get used to it.

The base still has 2x (50mm) optical crop due to 48mp sensor. Still "three lenses".
