The second iPhone I ever had (5th phone overall) and this one felt so great from the 4 I had before this one that had super poor battery life alongside other things that didn’t work right on it. I remember when I found out about Touch ID, it felt so cool having that feature that stayed around until the 10. Currently on an 8 Plus but the 5S really was a huge leap for me from what I had before

Long time android user. I guess I’m proud to say I’ve only had two iPhones and both were square bodied. The 5s and the RED iPhone 12 I got a few days ago and typing on now. I like to pretend it’s just a bigger 5s. I really liked that little phone back in the day.

I loved that phone. Bought mine new in August of 2015. Had to upgrade it in July of 2018 after the chip card inside of it became so old that the cell towers could no longer recognize it (and, of course, it happened while I was far away on a vacation). Replaced it with a brand new iPhone 8. STILL USE IT TO THIS DAY.

This was my first iPhone 🥲 had it in silver.. always wanted an iPhone but they were pricey.. 1st year Uni, and I did pretty well in my first semester exams so my dad caved and got it for me. Granted all my phones prior were entry to mid range, with my brother being spoilt with the pricier phones

I’ve been wanting to stream Apple Music on this phone but after 30 min the phone just stops streaming apple if I leave it alone. Does that just not work with the 5?

What’s crazy is I just updated my iPhone 5s yesterday I had to, to access my phone I couldn’t get pass the Wi-Fi part been so long since I used it. Only reason why I keep my phones is I store photos on them. All my iPhones I keep crazy to look back at this.

I have a couple of these in my collection and I feel like the 5s (specifially the gold 5s) is one of the best designs Apple has ever made. Only iPhone I think looks better might be the 4.

Just got my old 5s repaired cause my 11 pro took a dive in the ocean😂 Using the 5s as a back up while im still saving up for a 14 pro max. An unexpected upgrade🤣 Its good for my daily use(texting&calling). I usually use my ipad when im at home. But it gets kinda frustrating lugging around a huge ass ipad

This was my first ever iPhone back in early 2016. Before that all I ever had was android phones. Paid around $230 for it at the time and it was amazing little phone. Loved it so much my next iPhone was the SE 1st gen because it was basically a clone of the 5s with better specs. I really wish Apple still made these size phones because they felt more premium and less complicated than newer iPhones. And the size was so great because it was perfect in your hand or to put in your pocket.

I wouldn't necessarily use it but it's a great collector's item. Insanely gorgeous.

I have one laying around somewhere, was thinking about using it as a dap. I’d probably need a new battery though, and a way to increase storage. Also have a 7 in storage too, but no headphone jack so that would be pointless to use as a dap when I already have an iPhone 11 Pro with a btr7.

I think they older tech is good for a lot of stuff just not daily use. I had an iPad on my wall I would use for a clock and timer along with watching shows when I had work being done beside my setup.

The only thing with those older iPhones is you won’t continue to get updates or support. I tried with an old SE then I was like nah I need a newer iPhone that I can get all my apps and support on so I upgraded to the iPhone 12 mini:)

If you have another brand phone from that year, you can understand difference between apple and others!!!! Non of them work at all, or very slow... I use my old iphone as a mp3 player, or listening to hundreds of free radio stations around the world and it just works perfectly....

5s is my first iphone.. Then jump into xs.. And latest one is 13 pro max

I actually did keep my iPhone 5s for a few reasons. 1. The fist iPhone to have Touch ID, and I wanted to hang on to something ancient. 2. That was t-mobile’s second iPhone they came out with. T-mobile came on board with the iPhone 5. The 5s was the second iPhone that t-mobile came on. The other thing is is that was my first iPhone to text on and it literally changed my life as a totally blind person. I wish I would have gotten on on the 4s cause that was the first iPhone to have Siri, but t-mobile was not on the iPhone game yet. I remember being kind of mad about that but then I heard that t-mobile was picking up the iPhone and I was so excited. The iPhone 5s is such an old phone now. She works very sluggish. That is the other reason I kept the phone. That was my first iPhone to ever text and bee independent on. I no longer in the day had to ask someone to put their phone number in the phone for me. I could do that. I remember spending hours watching or listening to KZfaq videos on it. It felt snappy back in its launch of I.LO.S. When I moved on the next year to the 6 plus and yes i had that thing for maybe a year. Then the 6s plus after that I thought i would retire the 5s and give it back to t-mobile then,,,, something in me told me to stop. To keep the phone and bout i am glad I did. Would you believe it??? I had my 6s plus for over 7 years and it finally died. Glad i kept the 5s cause it has made for a great backup phone especially when the 6s plus quit. Funny to think that the 6s plus was much newer but it died and the 5s is still sluggishly working. Yes. I have an iPhone 5s still. Not for my main daily driver though. Now,,,, to take the bulk fo the work I have the 14 plus. And boy oh boy their is like night and day with this phone and the old 5s. Just using the 5s it makes me tear up some times. It brings me back to 2013 when that was the phone’s how are you? day of this phone. Just to know that i have a 10 year old smart phone is something so emotional and holds centimental value for me. Their was some memories created with this phone. The battery sucks though… now she is old. I keep her charged up on a charger otherwise the battery is going to quit. I have had to replace the battery case i have for it. I had to put a bit more modern battery case from an iPhone SE edition. The case does fit the iPhone 5s. The other case i had with it broke. The cable would pop out of a little door and you would have to manually connect it up into the charging port. The door broke off of it so i coulden’t use it anymore but I changed it for an S.E. Battery case. Great for the phone. It keeps it charged up when I am using it. Now rest assured a lot of apps do not work anymore with it. I get error messages with it now. My banking app no longer works, KZfaq won’t update anymore on it and amazon is a joke on it. I can’t even get into it. However,,,, KZfaq does work on it cause it has an old version of it. And the speakers sounds crap on it compared to the modern day iPhone….. it just goes to show you how far we have come. A huge leap. The 14 plus sounds like a little theater system. The 5s back in its day sounded fantastic but now you hear music come from an old iPhone and it sounds horrible. It is really fun to go on the web with it. It is working very very hard and it takes a lot of time just to unlock the phone. It is very dramatic for that phone. It takes a lot of power just to unlock it. Going on KZfaq takes a long time but when it gets on KZfaq if you play old music on it it sounds really good and takes you back. No surround sound like today’s iPhone. Voiceover is laggy and it takes the phone time to obey the commands and finger taps. It does get hot when you use it cause of the processor working super hard. I have it on its last update. I.O.S. 12.8 I believe? It is a security update though. The iPhone 5s really is a piece of history I am so glad i didn’t get rid of it. I had the SIM card taken out when I got the 6 plus. Then I waited for some years, and i think it was when I got the iPhone 6s Plus some years into it i really wanted to see if the iPhone 5s would work again. I went to the store and asked them to put in a SIM card in it and it started working again but was crying for an update. I haven’t taken the sim out of it to this day and it still works. Slow and sluggish….. that is the story of the 5s i have for you. It is great when I am just sitting at home I will grab the iPhone 5s in the evening and just feel it working hard as I use it. I don’t use it for my main phone though…. It is outdated and it won’t get the job done. For my main work and daily driver. It does however make and recieve calls…… kind of staticky though but it does work. Some nights after work i just like to have a throw back night and go vintage on my off time. I will pull up videos on the 5s and it takes for ever… sure what do i expect. It is a smart phone from almost 11 years ago now. I wouldn’t doubt that that thing is going to make it 20 years. Hahahahahaha it is already going on 11 years now. The 14 plus though it doesn’t even seem to get hot while using it. It is so snappy and does work like nobodies business. With in seconds you are in KZfaq. Or amazon ordering things checking the web the iPhone 14 plus is super fast. It is amazing. I don’t know if phones can get any faster. It now is probably just going to bee the innards of the phone. They are already going at top speed. Even the phone is flying through tasks faster than a computer these days. That is how fast they are running. The hard work that i put the phone through daily doesn’t even bother it. It loves the work. Cause it is a beast. I thought that the 6s plus was a beast but the 14 plus is something else.

it isn't really usable in 2023 but as a collector's item it's great, it's only around 20-25 USD for a fully working one

Its a good phone because of its longevity I guess.

I had this baby in 2013/14 and honestly it wasn’t worth it even back then. Only good thing about it was the Camera, screen size, battery life and iOS was garabge compared to Android devices of the time. Back then iOS had become so stale and lacked so many basic features that the small battery was even more frustrating!

This is my primary phone and I can still use social media, youtube, call people and the camera still is much better than so many android phones. The one reason why i still hold on to is its cute small nice phone design. Of course battery is bad but design and the way iphone is iphone is still great. If you guys want a phone with good camera and apps running, go for a 12 or 13 mini and that will hold for the next 5-7 years
