Let's start of by putting one thing to rest, the iPhone 7 Plus is NOT EVEN CLOSE to being a DSLR Killer.
This is the first time I am doing a "Real World Review" with a mobile phone but due to all the hype about the dual camera system of the new iPhone 7 Plus I think it's warranted.
All images shot with the Apple iPhone 7 plus using ProCam 4 App shooting RAW and editing in Adobe Lightroom CC.

You can stabilise your shots by using the earbud volume control as a cable release or use the self timer function, stops you jarring the phone when you push the on screen button.

Is there an earbud volume since it doesn't have headphone jack?

The phone still comes with EarPods, but with a lightning- instead of 3,5mm jack.

True, it even comes with an adapter so you can theoretically use the old earbuds if you really had/wanted to use them as a remote release of sorts.

Very informative review. In depth and done by a pro-tog instead of a tech channel. Really appreciate that. What I make of the vid is that in good lighting the pics can look descent to very good. I understand you'd want to highlight the good aspects of the 7Plus camera. Personally I would have loved to see how it'd fare around night time, though I assume it's not great because it wasn't shown in the video (apart from that cool bokeh bar glass shot, which looked cool). Thanks for the review Jared.

Outstanding Review Fro. At the time of this comment I see 99 dislikes I don't know what the heck that's about but this review is extremely thorough it takes a long time to shoot and edit a video like this. Much respect. Most of the shots I do unless their landscapes I like to have a lot of blur in the fore and background for that reason, I don't usually use my cell phone. But it is definitely important to know how to use your phone to the fullest, especially since these newer ones have fully manual control.

Great review Jared. I really enjoyed seeing the iphone 7 + put through the paces and used in real world situations. I just received my new iphone and will get out and check out this new camera system. We have rain coming in tomorrow so will be fun to get some weather related images.

Jared - I am SOOOO glad you did this review. I'm a Canon guy. And I predominately shoot sports. So i'm used to shooting a 300 mm f/2.8 or 70-200 mm f/2.8 L II on a Canon 7D Mark II, but i've been branching out to everything else lately (landscapes on a 5D, more sports on a 1D Mark III or IV, etc.) and I have noticed I shoot a lot of great still shots with my iPhone 6S Plus. I was curious about the iPhone 7 Plus and from your review, it sounds like it might be a great upgrade choice for me. This was a wonderful step outside of your normal reviews and I really, really appreciate the input! Nice work!

What does 'better camera' mean? Will it have more MP? (actually more MP is a marketing gimmick and is more likely to be detrimental on a small sensor so fewer MP might be better). Will it have better autofocus? Will it have a much bigger sensor? Will it have better control over aperture, shutter and ISO? Will it be less noisy at anything above 100 ISO? Will it have optical rather than digital zoom? Will it produce more lifelike colours and tones? What is a 'better camera'? As the man said, a good photo is a good photo is a good photo, whatever you shoot it with.

That is what we are trying to find out. What one would be better as the two different devices will have different pros and cons. It's called being a proactive consumer. I personally will go with apple no matter what as I am committed to its ecosystem but Google have made some pretty big claims about its camera and I for one would like to see how it stands up against the iPhone 7.

I have been using the beta iOS version and portrait. I like it but you need to be in the right distance (it will tell you) and right light. You can't just grab a quick photo. You need to have a still subject and time.

What a great test. For the Panorama, I'd probably take them manually in RAW, stitch in PTGui, export in TIFF, and go from there. Really surprised how well these turned out. Ordering my iP7+ tomorrow.

Jared... great review and pictures from the iPhone 7. I was wondering if holding the iPhone would be better achieved by its edges and corners would make it easier to depress the shutter. I find it hard to operate the button and envelop the camera as you demonstrated. Thanks!

I really enjoyed your video. I think that you make some points that does not apply only to the iPhone, but usually to smartphones. Like grip (smartphones are easy to carry, but I think that when actually shooting a dslr is a lot easier).

I'm talking about the composition of the image... When you crop the amount of pixels remain the same in that part of the picture. No loss of quality just quantity of pixels..

Amazing Job! A friend just sent me this video and I am truly amazed. Getting this phone on December 10th! Hope I can get some great photos. And by the way, if you can... what camera would you recommend 200-500$ ?
