I tried this using a Scarlett 18i8 but only 1 microphone is being recorded even though 2 mics are plugged in. I can see that both mics are picking up audio, so, not sure why the audio isn't being recorded by both mics.

Man that's great. I have an older 2i2 and it used to work, and it still works with garageband and logic, however, when I use it with my phone, it pans the mics or lowers the volumes of mics automatically. It's bizarre. When I listen in headphones, it pans from one side to the other and back at random times.. You have that experience at all, and perhaps I just need to buy the latest gen 2i2

Hi! if you connect player, mixer or keyboard or expander etc in two frontal inputs of FS2i2 I'm sure it works.. Others ways I don't know.

There are two ways - post production (not possible in streaming) - using Scarlett only as converter connected (through its audio inputs) to external mixer that manages all channels (mics, pickup, processors etc).

I think so, after shooting you can, by audio app or PC software, extracting audio and edit it.. but don't ask me how because I made it years ago, don't know modern apps/sw

If you have only one mic, in this setup, you will listen your shoot in only one channel, left or right. This setup is perfect for stereo capture..

Dunque, no, non ho mai provato su elettrica; da buon amante dell'acustica mi sono cimentato in questo sistema per sfruttare, phantom inclusa nel setup, la coppia matched dei mic a condensatore per riprese stereo addirittura "live streaming" (che credimi non è poco). Puoi sicuramente fare tutto "fuori" dalla Scarlett e poi entrare via jack negli ingressi combo con volume zero (gestisci tutto fuori) e sfruttarla come semplice convertitore fra quello che fai e il tuo iPhone-iPad Altro non saprei dirti.. grazie per l'apprezzamento di questo mio lavoro🙏

I cannot answer but all I know is channel 1 and 2 will be in the video L & R, in your headphones and every YT channel or social you share it. I'm not sure if works with only one mic, maybe you will listen only in one channel (L or R). This setup is perfect for stereo capture and doesn't need any post-production.

O meu comentário apagaram, ótimo vídeo, agora vou escrever em português, contar minha experiencia aqui para ajudar o pessoal i. (apagaram, deve ser porque coloquei um link de um cabo tipo Y), a intenção é mostrar que existe saída para o problema de alimentação. para que tenha alimentação extra para o USB-C usar um cabo Y com duas saídas, uma dados outra só para ligar no Power Bank e assim, poder usar com qualquer mic 48V, mesmo os que mais consomem e mais exigentes em energia.

I’ve been live streaming with mines and sounds great! But I have an issue I can’t resolve. When I try going live on Facebook and I plug in either my guitar/piano into input 2 it won’t sound at all like if it’s muted. So I’’ve been using my microphone only to pick up the audio. Is there a solution for this ?

Dunque, ho fatto molti tentativi e sembra necessiti un buon output in quanto iPhone è energivoro, molto più degli android.. Non sono riuscito a farlo funzionare dall'alimentatore a muro e non credo funzioni neanche da usb attraverso il pc o mac (forse la 3.0 ha qualche chance). Ma poi, il figo di questo sistema è proprio la portabilità con qualità audio altissima!

Same here.I Use a Tc Helicon Play Acoustic and run that into the 2i2 then out it usb into my ipad.When i record to the ipad video it sounds great.I can then post that to Fb all is good.The same exact set up into fblive I get very low volume?Can’t figure it out.

The issue you tell I never seen.. I (iPhone 6 & 7) and friends (8 and more recent models) never had problems about noise. But Focusrite do not support iPhone.

C'è un "problema" per questo tipo di combinazione, non sei il primo a pormi questa giusta domanda; dunque con questo setup, alla tua maniera (1mic x chitarra e 1mic x voce) otterresti il risultato, alla riproduzione del video girato, di sentire divise le sorgenti (es. la chitarra tutta a destra e la voce a sinistra). Ovviamente il risultato non sarebbe buono.. Ci può essere una soluzione: compri un piccolo mixer (ci sono anche a batterie) cosicché con esso gestisci 2 o + canali (voce + chitarra + etc) e gestiresti i panpotaggi (risolvendo il tutto una cosa a dx e l'altra tutta a sx); quindi come collegheresti tutto al mio setup? Semplicemente i line out L+R del mixer ai line in frontali dell'interfaccia. Detto questo io rimango dell'idea della ripresa stereo con 2 mic uguali per brani strumentali e/o cantati, dovresti almeno provare l'opzione prima di scartarla. Un ulteriore possibilità è si, fare come dici tu: 1 mic (possibilmente a condensatore) sulla chitarra e un altro (condensatore o dinamico) per la voce; giri il tuo video coi canali divisi, lo importi su PC o Mac e realizzi una postproduzione per fare tutto quello che vuoi. Il che implica un ulteriore passaggio.. il bello di questo sistema 'mobile' è che giri, ti piace, pubblichi e condividi sui social sfruttando il cellulare. Spero di esserti stato utile.. sul mic voce non ho abbastanza esperienza per consigliarti, mi dispiace.

Hi i want to ask about the settings within the iphone. Im trying to connect my audio interface (scarlett solo) to my iphone 11. I use lightning to usb camera adapter. It works, it records the sound. but when i tried to record voice on voice memo and videos it sounds like the voice coming through one side only. I already tried to turn of the mono audio on audio/ visual settings and/ or turning on the record stereo sound camera settings but same results it still record sounds from one side only. Do you ever encounter same problem on your ipad and/or maybe have some suggestion?

@@Zeno-rs8bt Scarlett and others interfaces have 2 channels recorded one on left and the other on right channel of your iOS. For more options I recommend to use pc or Mac.

Hi there I’ve got the adapter and tested it with my iphone xr and my ipad in garageband. It works on both devices, but when I use my iphone charger to power my ipad then it didn’t work so you kind of have to use proper charger for each device. By the way, what software do you use to record this? Do you use garageband or just the camera app on your iphone?

Certo, ma con altra interfaccia; la steinberg ur22c ha un dsp interno controllabile da iPhone via app! Costa come la 2i2 3rd ma a mio avviso è superiore anche per altre caratteristiche

This setup mostly works for me! I'm running into an issue where one input is recorded 100% left channel and the second input is 100% right channel. Is there any way to mix/balance the signals the center?

Sorry, I don't know about this combination.. For sure with power adapter not works, maybe is the same.

@@kennycrow7870 the cool of this setup is the mobile use, without electricity grid.. Listen to me, with a good powerbank you can shoot video everywhere, at THIS sound quality😉

@@andreastefanomele I understand the powerbank setup. I was trying to record from my Iphone through Focusrite 2i2 into my laptop so I can use my Pro Tools First or Ableton Lite program. I ordered the cables and the apple adapter and they will be here in a few days. I will let you know if it works . Thank you.

@@kennycrow7870 pay attention to the microphones; my old SE3 and new SE8 stereo couple works well but tried, for example, a couple of behringer C2 and not worked.. It depends by power consumption of condenser mics (in stereo setup, single mic I think no problems).

Hey Andrea, nice video btw! I would like to ask something, i'm using scarlett 2i2 3rd gen and i want to record guitar and vocal as mono not split sound as stereo. But every time i record with camera app, the result is always stereo no matter how i adjust the camera settings in iphone or the order of the setup. Do you have any ideas how to fix this? Thank you in advance!

This setup ALWAYS records with left + right in dual mono channels. The only way to separate the two channels is doing it with a mic for your voice in one and plug your internal preamp of your guitar in the second channel. Using two mics will always give you issues because both of them capture voice and acoustic guitar

@@andreastefanomele thanks for the reply! So i connected 1 line for mic and the other line for guitar, i would like the sound from the mic to be heard on both sides of headphones L & R Not the mic on the Left and the guitar on the Right So i want them to be Mono output

@@elmechino19 your voice microphone will always capture the sound of your guitar.. for that you want there is a only way: record audio in separate times, before guitar after voice.. but this is a studio work not a shooting video with your Android device

I also have the same problem, I record my guitar alone in one input, So audio is always heard on one side. I can use a splitter and connect the splitter into two inputs, But trying to find options without. Let me know if you come across any

@@handsome11123 iPhone, and Android with usb-c, manages two channels: one to the left, other to the right (in this way to use smartphone + every audio interface). If you want obtain different mixing you must do it before entering your interface, with a mixer, pedal board etc plugged by its L&R outputs to interface inputs. I think this is the only way.

Ciao Patricio, you need a power bank because iPhone can't power all the setup.. and before all connections it needs to be completely charged..

And my setup works with these se3 mics but not always works with all mics: I remember a couple of behringer C2 not went fine because they have too much power consumption

If we use the same set up then we dont need to use any audio software. The iphone camera directly supports the Interface or we have to download an audio software? Is this video being recorded with the same set up or the video and audio was recorded separately and then synced later? The sound has a studio quality.

My Iphones 6 & 7 recognize Scarlett without drivers or app to download; the camera directly supports the interface on its original app. The audio is the original recorded by iPhone.. Make sure battery is full charged because iPhone requires a lot of energy..

Oh really no editing no any audio software used. This is a raw video and audio directly from an Iphone by just connecting to an interface. The quality of the video and audio is amazing. I thought it was recorded in a studio, video separately and audio separately. How many microphones used for the guitar. Sound is so clear as-well the video. I cant believe it really.

Nel tuo bel video però non capisco una cosa: come fai funzionare lo streaming? Voglio dire, non si parla di software, di mixer virtuali, c'è qualcosa che mi sfugge :))) Mi era sembrato di capire che fosse necessario un mixer virtuale per canalizzare il suono che viene dalla scheda audio verso la piattaforma di streaming... Grazie!

Buongiorno, l'unico test che ho fatto è la diretta streaming su fb, che viene effettuata in stereo. E il reverbero del video è quello della chiesa.. purtroppo non saprei dirti altro. L'unica cosa che posso dirti è che con la Steinberg UR22C, che ha un dsp interno gestito via app anche da iphone, hai la possibilità di gestire effetti all'origine realizzando video e streaming coi suoni e ambienze che vuoi. Questo con la 2i2 non credo sia possibile. Buona giornata.

@@yusufterzii2 not with iPhone, my setup only works with powerbank.. so, it depends condenser microphone you plug: the couple of SE3 se electronics in video works well, the new couple of SE8 the same. I remember a couple of C2 behringer setup did not support the energy consumption of them... Which mic do you plug? One or two like me?

Sbs è un powerbank senza il quale non può funzionare il tutto perché iPhone non ha abbastanza energia in uscita per alimentare una scheda audio; in questo Android è superiore perché lui ce la fa

@@luciodrum87 cerca nel mio canale e troverai l'ultimo video pubblicato tutorial per android.. Però è testato su interfacce a 2canali con e cavo collegamento usb-c su entrambe le estremità.. La tua Focusrite non è alimentabile da cellulare, devi per forza usare il suo alimentatore e potrebbe pure funzionare ma perdi quel fico di 'portabilità'.. non hai una 2i2 3gen o altre interfacce più piccole della 18?

L’utilizzo del power bank serve solo per mantenere il telefono in carica oppure ha un’altra funzione? Video utilissimo ed esecuzione esemplare. Complimenti!!!

Quanti microfoni a condensatore e che modello/marca sono? I miei ex SE3 nel video e nuovi SE8 non danno nessun problema.. provai dei C2 behringer e il setup non riusciva ad alimentarli..

Collego solo la scheda audio ad un iphone sia 6 che 10 (Xr) attraverso il camera kit appena comprato. Non si accende la spia usb e la spia della 48v lampeggia. Ho cambiato anche i cavi e niente. Il problema rimane.
