If you look closley at the iphone when craig fails to unlock it, you can see that it says " Your password is required to enable Face ID " makes perfect sense, it worked as it was suppose to!

The phone thought it was Steve Martin and got confused.

Similar situation when they announced the first iPhone, it didn’t work at all, they made the software only work as long as Steve Jobs selected certain apps in a certain order and they forced att to install a mini cellular tower behind the screen so it showed full bars despite the device crashing if they selected the phone call button.

You don't need to enter password before Face ID, it is just valid as second option when Face ID fails.

everyone see that 1st phone some one set it up ,someone rebooted the phone and everyone knows that it asks the password when rebooted and does'nt allow touch id only the same way didnt allow face id see closely at 0:30 its written passcode is required to enable face id so face id was flawless

If you look closley at the @0:31 mark you can see ´´your password is required to enable face id´´ they probably havent unlockt the phone after the booted it up. and a password is always needed after the first boot up so is see no fail here.

I think I'm done buying iPhones. I have a 7 and this is too much and way too expensive

apple claimes that the fail happened because other people were handling the phone but if that were true he would have been prompted to password unlock on his first attempt. it wasnt until his second failed attempt to use face id that he was prompted to use a password. so apples excuse is either a blunt lie or another fail.

I inherently dislike the iPhone X for a number of reasons, but in this instance I have to point out this didn't actually fail at all. iOS requires you to enter your passcode the first time you access it after it's been switched off for security purposes (as it has done for years) it even says so on the screen of the 'failed' device. The cock-up was made by whichever person switched the phone off prior to the demo.

How stupid to take away the home button to unlock the iPhone X. It won't work in the dark at night. How utterly stupid. Also the fact that iOS 11 no longer supports 32 bit applications means that about 1/2 of my older and favorite apps no longer will work. I'll not be buying Apple anymore and will switch to an Android phone. Poor Steve Jobs must be rolling over in his grave...

Actually it's normal. The iPhone says that the passcode has to be entered once to activate FaceID the first time, just like TouchID needs to be activated the first time. So it actually worked.

Didn't fail, though, it was a security feature. It just requested a passcode on that instant, perhaps because the phone was restarted.
