I am waiting for IPhone XR- because it would be a huge step forward from my iPhone 6 , and it is a lot cheaper than Xs or Xs max :)

Mehdi yk if you watch youtube you can even only watch in 720p, there is no option to select 826p. So that is for me like 2 steps back. Also the 3GB RAM is one step back. They recorgnized with the iPhoneX that 3GB wasn't enough with faceID and now, out of the sudden, for the Xr, 3GB is enough. i will definitely not buy a new iPhone, i testet a few androidONE phones and this year i will switch from my 6Plus to Android. I get more for even less money. Sure i got Updates for my 6Plus but since iOS11 it got so slow. There is no fun anymore to use it.

Biggest criticism is the resolution, which lets be honest, 90% of the people won't even notice. All my friends are content with their LCD screens, not seeing the point of OLED. It's got 95% of all the features and other specs of the XS, yeah, it's gonna be a hit

There is only one way to decide....go see the phone and decide if the display is acceptable to you personally...because no amount of yada yada and specs and how your eyes can see not not see is going to replace hands on experience. See it compare it and then decide if it's worth ytour money or just spending some more and getting the XS.

Or, another option. Which is much better, getting an android for less than 750, with better features, better cameras, better in general, and not waste 1k on a phone you're gonna replace in a year with your credit card.

Really good video...my only problem is I had the iPhone 8 and I returned it cuz I thought the screen wasn't very good and got the iPhone 8 plus which had a much better screen and it was easy to see the difference and so I got to wonder if the iPhone XR screen is not going to look that good... I'm not a hater but I think they went cheap on the screen. If Apple would have just gone 1080 like they did on the iPhone 8 + they would save themselves a lot of rightfully deserved criticism.

Good review, informative. I'll be considering the XR, waiting until I see the screen for actual usage. But given how quickly updates have stopped on many of my android phones (2 years or less!), and the high resale value of iphones, I'm less concerned about the price of buying outright (on contact it's comparable to other devices I'd consider). The overall security model and advantages with the apps I use is why I'm switching to ios from android (though I'll carry on playing with my android devices from time to time, it's not worth selling them for what I'd get). I was happy with the iPhone 8+ screen so I'm happy to give this screen a go. I don't need ultra hires on a smaller phone. The battery life amd 128gb make the XR tempting. And my earphones fit 3.5mm and lightning headphone sockets so that's not an issue. I did see the Sony xz3 screen last week and that strides past the s9 screen. Samsung will need to up their game for those driven by high screen quality. I was tempted by the v40 (quad dac). But LG should have gone for a longer lasting battery (drain increases if you use the quad dac!).

its thinner than the 6s. They said its actually thinner when you see it in real life and use it.

It's not thinner, it's 1mm thicker than a 6s, but you'll be hard pressed to notice. The biggest difference you'll notice is the weight and the width/height of it.

the only problem with XR is no optical zoom on camera & its aluminium chassis which is not as strong as the stainless steel on the XS... but saying that £250 cheaper and a 128GB version - I'd go with XR.

128 GB is a major factor for me as well. That and the potentially longer battery life. I don't look at my phone with a magnifying glass, 326PPI is fine for me & Apple's LCD panels have always been very good (as seen for example on their iPad Pros. Those screens are gorgeous).

WOW, excellent review and probably one of the most well done reviews I've seen. I was going to say you should do this for a living, but maybe you do. I can't wait to see your review/update of the Xr when it comes out. It is the new iPhone that I was targeting since the others are too expensive for my tastes. I will also check it out in person at Best Buy before buying. Nice tease as I was expecting, probably foolishly, for you to get to the actual review until the end when it was clear you weren't going to do it. I thought you might have gotten your hands on one even though they aren't in stores until Oct. 26.

Thank you for the great video on the XR. Just wondering if the battery life of the XR is longer is due to it is displaying at lower resolution and slower modem when compared to Xs & XMax especially when using for internet and video. Would it be possible it may not have a larger capacity battery?

Hi, thanks for the detailed review. Im deciding between Xs and Xr. My concern is the larger size of the XR. Is it too big to use one handed easily, eg reaching all around the screen? Fitting into a jeans pocket and kneeling down etc? I currentl;y have a 6s. cheers

Shurik8668 It’s impossible for Apple to do that. There just isn’t enough stock for the amount of demand that they get.

Filmar Aswegue Again, Apple can't do that. There isn't enough OLED displays in the market for the amount of iPhones that they would sell. Apple has to use LCD, there isn't any other choice.

10,000 SUBSCRIBERS WITHOUT VIDEOS 300 ppi on a phone is completely fine in terms of sharpness. You literally cannot notice a difference between that and higher ppis. It's impossible.

Thanks for a logical and well thought-out video. I'm on the side of the XR. I will pre-order mine on Oct 19th. Apple pundits act as if the LCD screen will be a blurry, pixelated mess. I use my 2017 iPad with a 264ppi screen and it's great. Apple will make a killing with the XR. It's everything I want in a phone. The hardest part is picking the color.

I'm actually quite intrigued by the iPhone Xr. I've used a lot of different phones, but I like the simplicity of iOS and iPhone in general.

Pixel 2 xl had oled panel and high ppi and resolution,was it good. Color accuracy is very important

Great review! The XR looks like a decent phone. I'd much rather save the $250 over the XS The real issue (for those not married to Apple) is the competition. I have an iPhone SE but am going for a Samsung or Razer next time. iPhones aren't all that interesting.

Mate, I don’t even think that the PPI or RAM is an issue worth talking about on the Xr, they’re total non-issues that people pick up just so they have something to say against them. Also, a correction, you can select 1080p on KZfaq and it will downscale it to 820p, I can select 1080p on KZfaq on my SE.

I know OLED has a better contrast and more colors than LCD. But still, I prefer a good LCD over any OLED. Especially when it's as good as the one from the iPhone 8/8+. I'd rather see a jump from LCD to microLED. Can't stand the risk of burn ins of OLED and even the best OLEDs still have a tendency to have some kind of green/blue shift in whites. So, an even improved LCD in 2018/2019 still is a good welcome!

Plus OLED screens tire eyes a lot more because of PMW (pulse width modulation)

Plus OLED display using pentile panel shares pixels which reduces the actual ppi by about 20%. All those phones using 1080p OLED panel on 6 inches displays have rather average ppi, including xs and xs max.

I'm using a LCD phone, 409ppi. Perfect color temperature and Delta e of 1. Its good even if I miss OLED blacks.

that was then and this is now, 2 years later it turns out he was a good prognosticator? jst got my very first iPhone ever and it's the (DRUM-ROLL) XR . . . and i couldn't be happier :)
