Iraq TV Propaganda aired during 2nd Iraq War 2003 (music clip)

I recorded this on the Iraqi (governmental) TV program in the first days after hostilities started 20th March 2003. Iraq TV transmissions came to an end in the forthcoming days. Unfortunately I did not record tons of stuff, what I could and should have done. Iraq TV was a free to air program, receivable across Europe via Hotbird satellite @ 13°E.
Unfortunately the picture quality is very bad. Original recording took place on a VHS cassette (as the white horizontal errors tell you), then transfered to a DVD recorder's hard disk, then burned to DVD, now ripped to mpg and finally uploaded 8 years after first recording.

Iraq and Libya were far better off under Saddam and Gaddafi. Killing them was a huge mistake, as because of that terrorist groups run wild in those countries, Saddam and Gaddafi kept the terrorists at bay, and kept stability.

If you look at their other propoganda they put Islamic and Christian imagery in their TV. They also show scenes from the battles between the Arabs and Persians in the 600s AD mixed with the Iran Iraq war. I noticed the same thing with Serbian propoganda where they show their historic battles and religous artifacts.

He made numerous mistakes and he became too obsessed with power.. It's so sad, he had the potential and good will inside to actually become the best leader of the entire Arab land. If only he accepted the left and gave them government positions, and if only he used less repression, history would of been very different. I only wish he was a better person.. I hope at least in the end he realized those mistakes. I can't dislike the man, nor can I whole-heartedly love him. I wish things were different.

In the end he was just a thug, like Stalin. He wasn't a statesman, he wasn't a politician, he wasn't even a trained military officer. He was just a thug and a tyrant pretending to be all those things. He was also stubborn and greedy, listening to the US when they suggested he should invade Iran and that he could defeat Iran within 6 months. The US also tricked him into attacking Kuwait and then they used that as an excuse to attack Saddam and destroy his forces. He allowed himself to become a victim of American imperialist ambitions.

I agree, this is certainly a more toned down method of propagating ideals then what we use in the Western world. The idea that Women should look/feel a certain way is most detrimental to our species. Certainly encouraging people to look/feel the way they want is the most becoming method of encouraging both collective, and individual growth. Sadly, it would seem that the collectivization, or categorization of people is the key to this ongoing trend. T.V. "programming" has a sinister meaning.

Sitting in the safety of my living room in a "western" country, I always enjoyed catching impressions from far away countries and especially conflict zones through the window of my TV satellite dish. When this aired, it was impossible not to realize that I am witnessing a country living through its last days. All these patriotist songs and videos may be propaganda and nationalist, yet they clearly are a final farewell to an era, a nation's last breath. So I had to record it and I will forever feel stupid I didn't record more.

It will soon be 19 years since the Fall of Baghdad and Saddam's government collapsed. My mother grew up in Saddam's Iraq. The invasion was meant to bring peace, freedom and democracy. Good moral principles. But the invasion has achieved the opposite. Iraq is hands down unstable, corrupt and I'm sad to say this, a failed state. Just over two months ago there was an election. People are still fighting in the streets (with a few people dead) over th result of the vote. Whilst not perfect (like he killed 250,000+ people), his Iraq was more stable and more prosperous. My mum recalls all these stories from the era of Saddam. They're mostly good. We visited Iraq just over 3 years ago and to say that it's a mess is an understatement. Edit: A new government was finally formed in Iraq in October-November 2022, more than a year after the election.
