@@benfranklin3963 Cap and ball revolvers were unavailable nearly all of last year due to Italy being shut down. There's limited availability of the firearms now. However, real black powder is nonexistent. All caps for the revolvers are nonexistent. Round balls are nonexistent. Molds for making your own round balls are nonexistent. If you didn't stock up on stuff before Rona, it's the same as trying to find supplies for any other firearm.

Same, and I'd like to see a link to them "exploding" (I know of the lawsuit where taking a round out of the chamber with the safety on can cause it to discharge as the firing pin doesn't go back far enough to catch the trigger, and, if not removed through a hole barley it'd size and pulled back far enough, the pin can hit the pruner hard enough to fire, this is easily mitigated and if the kid had been taught the 4 simplest and most important gun rules he wouldn't have paralyzed anyone as it wouldn't have been flagging anyone. There good little reliable guns, as simple as possible which is not always bad.

Lesson learned- I have my own range on my farm and over the years I’ve hosted dozens of guests. 95% of my visitors would bring their entire arsenal or most of it. When it came to shooting skill they were at best fair but mostly poor shooters. I also would bring several of my favorites and put 25-50 rds through each of them and could out shoot pretty much all of them ( I had my own range, right). One day I met Chip and Arnold at the local gun store, after discovering that we had many mutual acquaintances I invited them to shoot with me. To my surprise they each showed up with one gun. Glock 19 and 1911 in 9 mm, I brought my top five show off guns. They suggested that we do some drills and that’s when it got ugly, I had to decide which gun I was going to use, they obviously didn’t. After extensive shooting for speed and accuracy at close range I realized that these guys were serious competition shooters. One drill was taking turns shooting at an 18” steel target starting at 25 yds. After each rd everyone takes 5 paces back. If you missed twice you were out. I made it to 45 yds. Chip and Arnold were still pounding it at 100 yds and ran out of room. Arnold won with zero misses Chip missed once. Fast forward 10 yrs. I only carry one gun to the range, quote from Chip “ beware of the man with one gun”.

@pete mitchell I get it. Fanboys of any gun really make it difficult for anyone else to like it. I'm a Glock guy, not a Glock fanboy. There is a difference. I'm a fan of striker-fire and simplicity. Glock has those two features for a very reasonable price. I've had my Gen 3 G21 for 15 years and have had ONE malfunction, that was fixed by cleaning it. Most pistols on the market now can make a similar claim. Unlike a fanboy, I'm not going to talk bad about someone's choice, provided it works.

This is a bit lengthy, but bare with me; this isn't bashing anyone or any product. Just a real life scenario. Back in 2012 when I was stationed at Bolling AFB I was chatting with a naval researcher at the navy research lab (it's attached to the base in dc) we were talking guns and I told him I had an Enfield, that peaked his interest because he then told me this. Apparently that spring there was a platoon of marines that were pinned down by a half dozen insurgents armed with No 4 Mk1 Enfield rifles. The insurgents had the marines pinned down over 600 meters away volleying in .303 rounds on their position using iron sights. the marines tried returning fire but the 5.56 is really only good out to 400 meters so they were limited in what they could do, especially when the enemy had the high ground; which they did. The only way the marines made it out was due to an attack helicopter that came into save them blew up the bad guys. The researcher telling me that the military at that time was trying to figure ways to counter the enemy armed with these rifles and find a different angle on tactics when we encountered situations like this on the battlefield today when CAS may not be an option; eh sorta today now that quite some time has passed. I guess the take way from this is that, sometimes the old stuff isn't always that bad.

I'm 70years old and my Dad was a WWII VETERAN (I'M PROUD OF HIM--RIP) because of that I became very interested in ALL GUNS. I got to shoot a German Luger and P38 when I was 12 because of my older brother is the reason for that to happen. I enjoy TARGET shooting so I can keep close tabs on my eye sight because I'm blind in my left eye since birth. I have a few reasonably nice weapons that I allow other people shoot to give people a chance to shoot something that they may like to try out. I do that particularly because not all weapons are available to be rented at indoor ranges because I had situations where someone did that for me when I was younger and still fairly NEW to the SHOOTING DISCIPLINE. The main pistol that most people like to try is my German Luger and old Colt 3-5-7 (Pre-Python). It's not always a situation where it is something expensive but actually hard to FIND. My stuff are NOT COLLECTOR GRADE so they are not THAT EXPENSIVE but hard to GET, they only made 15,000 of my Colt 3-5-7 and it is a 6" one which is a small part of that 15,000 because it was ment for Troopers. My is descent condition finish wise but MECHANICALLY GREAT (@25' one hole with 38 Special CCI Blazer Brass 125gr FMJ). It's a SHOOTER not a BEAUTY QUEEN which is what I PREFER. "Top 5 Guns That Would Make Perfect Melee Weapons"? That title isn't even well thought out. No gun makes a "perfect" melee weapon. Hell, most melee weapons don't make perfect melee weapons. There's so many factors. A Hi-Point is not going to make the top 5 melee weapons for a gun much less for any reason. It's made of a brittle zink alloy. It would make a better boat anchor than a melee weapon and a boat anchor would make a better melee weapon than a Hi-Point. Or were you just making a joke?

Ive had good experience with cheap guns with a little work. I have a sccy cpx-2 that i have replaced the spring from a 7 pound pull to a 3 1/2 pound pull. I recently picked up a brand new g3c for less then $270. Have not shot it yet but the gun feels really well made. 12+1 and came with 3 mags really could not beat it for the price. As for rifles Ive taken many coyotes with Savages old model of the Axis (I have the edge) and have had it for years. Only thing with rifles is the barrel wobble if you buy cheap synthitic stocks. Upgraded to the WInchester model 70 featherweight with a walnut stock and put a nice Vortex scope for under 1200 not to long ago.

I really love this video. All my firearms have wood furniture and are either surplus (1943 mosin, rossi single 12ga etc) and I'm always getting flack for it. I'm an excellent shot, my home is safe and my wallet is happy and so am I. Great video again thank you!

Honestly wood looks a lot better than most synthetic furniture. I have a Remington 783 30-06, great gun, but I'm planning on replacing the polymer stock with some laminate wood. Those early surplus guns are some of the best guns made as well. I would rather have a M1 Garand than some of the newer rifles they come out with.

I always buy stock guns and build them up myself. I get to pick my parts and its more fun. It may take a while but I have a functional firearm throughout the entire process. Dont forget, a lot of this stuff comes down to personal preferences. Lots of aftermarket parts do the exact same thing at different prices and appearances.

This happens with in-brand people. I'm a CZ guy and I've seen multiple times a new gun buyer on a certain FB page showing not just their first CZ, but their first gun purchase, usually a P10C or F, and promptly slammed for not getting a steel framed 75 and their purchase isn't a, "real" CZ. Nice way to welcome someone into the gun community.

You guys are hitting it on the head. Years ago I use to read Peterson’s 4wd and Off-road magazines, and it use to show some cheap and easy mods for 4wd, but then it started to switch over to more and more newer, better, faster, and higher sales for manufacturers. I know there is certainly new products that are improving all the time, but most of the best ones, in my opinion, seem to be the work horses that are built to last, not the fanciest, or most expensive, but reliable. Years ago they deployed the FP-45 Liberator pistol for use in the resistance forces overseas. Very basic simple firearm, single shot, reloaded manually, but it allowed them to get a better firearm from the enemy. My biggest thrill when I was young was a single shot 22 caliber revolver. Use what you have and get very proficient at it! Thanks for your great shows!

It's always those assholes that can't hit the broadside of a barn. I was at the range with my gf a little while back when she wanted me to take her shooting, and this clown in the other lane had 2 glocks with a micro roni conversion kit. His target looked like he emptied a box of buckshot onto it. My gf, who is a *BEGINNER*, had way better grouping than him. It's not about the equipment. It's about the consistency.

I've been fortunate to own a couple high end 1911s and some 500 to 700 dollar ones. If you are flat ranging down a lane indoors to shoot Xs or bullseyes there is no doubt the fancy gun will likely come out on top and the feel of the quality is obvious. Go run a tactical course with one of each and I bet most even above average shooter's would have virtually the same results from both guns.

@@joshuagibson2520 SigPro 2022 (9mm). I own a H&K USP and several metal Sigs, but somehow the value Sig is my favorite. My second favorite is a S&W shield (1.0). The shield after 5000 rounds smooths out to take away most of the 1st generation detractions (the slide is still too stiff for some). While I don't own one, the S&W SD9VE has a reputation where the first shot fired is often into the bad guy and it works even if left in a tackle box.
