(Chris), instead of making the videos private for subscribers, and then releasing them on KZfaq two weeks later would be useless because nobody would subscribe as they’ll be waiting for the release on KZfaq lol. Rather than that, create behind-the-scenes from your past, and present while making all the videos you’ve ever done for subscribers only.

Just wanted to say: We will always respect and appreciate your contributions to Video Game commentary and KZfaq commentary as a whole! The fact that you continued for so long and got even better than most of you contemporaries is a testament to your work ethic, spirit and persistence in the face of true adversity. The vast amount of influence you had on this platform will always be noticed by those that appreciate the O.G.s. I would recommend perhaps considering other platforms if KZfaq has become to much of a sole individual one. Elon Musk is going to open Twitter to video and content creation. There is also Rumble.

KZfaq copyright has always been a joke really, but hearing this is just a total ass-blow. KZfaq copyright is, and has always been OVERWHELMINGLY in favor of the copyright issuer, which 95% of the time is 1 out of the 4 gigantic music companies that seem to own just about every song in existence. The entire purpose of royalty free music is to avoid copyright claims, but even THAT is becoming an issue now. It's honestly getting to a point where it feels like KZfaq wants to go back to black and white silent films with no audio whatsoever, because if these music companies had some way to buy all digital audio as we know it, and copyright claim anything that has SOUND, I bet they would. It's also a complete fallacy how KZfaq may either give 100% of a 10 minute video's earned revenue to a copyright holder who owns like 3% of the entire video's audio, or even take down a 10 minute video with 3% of copyrighted audio entirely. What would be a more fair system is if the copyright holder got a share of revenue from the video RELATIVE to the percentage of copyrighted material used. If a video is 10 minutes long, and you use 20 seconds of their song, they only get 3% of the total revenue because that number is relative to how much of their copyrighted material was used. If you used 40 seconds of a song in a 10 minute video, they get 6%. That way, the creator still gets a majority of revenue from the video they worked hard to make, and the copyright holder still gets to mooch a little something-something from an innocent creator. Everyone wins. But no, I guess it's easier for KZfaq to entirely favor these titanic music companies which basically almost tried to bully KZfaq out of existence in the first place, rather than show any allegiance towards people like you who literally BUILT this platform. I'm real sorry to hear this, Chris. Hopefully KZfaq will get it's shit together in the near future and lay off when it comes to copyrighted material, but the truth is we've been waiting for them to lay off for many years now, and I really don't see it happening unless these music companies choose to do so, which definitely ain't happening either lol.

To be fair.. thats one of the main reasons why I gave up my channel. I did audio restorations and stereo repairs.. and one of the things that necessary with this "field" is you have to test the audio equipment with sound samples and every gdamn time I went to upload a video as small as my channel is/was.. I was hit with copyright strikes.. had to go back and reedit, reupload and hope the next edit was done.. and often times, I would have to dig out the equipment, set it all back up sample it working with a different music score and then hope it passed.. was absolutely brutal. So I totally understand..

Just my 2 cents. 5 bucks a month should have more content than 2 videos a month, at least 1 a week, even if 2 of them are shorter. Plus there should be exclusive clips, vlogs, posts. Maybe even a poll on what gets made next? A livestream would be neat too even if its just you hanging out and working and chatting with the stream for a little while. Maybe 5 gets you all that and 2 bucks a month just gets you some irate gamer videos? Just an idea

Personally, I've always been against members only content, but if that's the route you're travelling, I'd prefer a timed exclusivity. Like a week or two, only members can see them, then after that, they go public. That way fans who would prefer not to opt in to the system can still enjoy your content, albeit a bit later. Incentivize the membership without losing your audience to it, y'know?

Not sure how using KZfaq's subscription service will change much if the concern is based more on their content ID claims for music. And I'm not defending Patreon as 100% reliable or trustworthy, some artists I follow have gotten blacklisted from there because of selective standards on adult content. But taking money from KZfaq instead of your subscribers with Patreon as an intermediary doesn't seem like it's any better, it's just working within a system you're more familiar with even if it doesn't really respect you

Here's the thing that doesn't make sense with KZfaq. Say you create a video, all your footage that's an hour long and there's a song playing in the background for about 10 seconds coming from a club or bar or what have you. You end up getting a copyright strike, they start giving your earnings to the music copyright holder even though you're technically not using it. If that's the case, then how come the person who's music was playing in the background for 10 seconds gets to make money from the rest of my 59 minute video? Now they're making money from my content. Makes no sense! I personally am not in that position but I've definitely seen enough of these stories where KZfaq is an issue.

This may be a silly idea, but maybe have another channel registered under a different email address that has Irate Gamer episodes with no music, that are available free with ads and make the ones with music, as a paid subscriber service on this main channel? You would have to verify this, but it looks like as long as there is different audio, you can upload the same video to another channel without breaking any rules. If you intentionally put the music on separate tracks in the video editing software, than muting all music tracks would be easy to toggle.

Hey Chris, I have an idea for a game for the next Irate Gamer video cause I think will make even you flip your shit. The game was made by Konami, but is often considered to be the worst game they ever made made because it’s unfairly difficult and many people including myself can’t even beat the first stage. It’s The Adventures of Bayou Billy. It’s a sad case cause the game had great potential and so much to offer. It was a game with side scrolling beat/shoot ‘em up stages, driving combat stages, and even light gun stages, but the insane difficulty killed it. So, if you think of another game to review. Please to do this one some day.

Hi Chris Big fan since day one. Great to see that monetizing your videos in different ways finally motivates you in making content. Noticed multiple inaccuracies in the video so wanted to help. 1. There is no different treatment when it comes to music and copyrights. KZfaq is utilizing a bot with a small percentage of not capturing 100% the claim on day one. This means that maybe in a week you will get that claim. Avoid utilizing "copyright free" youtube music because most of them lie and in the fine print they explain that the music is copyright free but they will still claim you for royalties unless you contact them aka find a way to pay them. I would suggest paying people to make you, your own music 2. Stop focusing on ad revenue. I get that you were privileged back in 2009 but nowadays unless you make 1mil per video, you will make pennies. Utilize your clout and reach sponsors. James has been doing good with sponsorships. Maybe do the same for smaller game developers. Or stuff like equipment to treat the hair of your balls. 3. Don't go crazy with high value memberships. It's cool that you will create stuff fir members but you will get more people on the 1 usd member than 50, even if you offer them exclusive content. 4. Start streaming. Streaming will give you also opportunities with shorts 5. Expand on tiktok 6. Stream on twitch (easiest way to monetize) Hope the best

I think keep it private for a few weeks , would be a shame for new comers or people who can't afford to support your channel to miss out

As for the music, maybe just not have any music. Be aware that Un-Listed and even PRIVATE videos (meaning all videos on an account, regardless of anything) that contain copyright material, are still subject to copyright claims and copyright strikes. I have a lot to say about copyright stuff and don't expect anyone to read this. ... Copyright issues with KZfaq has always been risky. To be safe, have no music and show no brand names and don't repeat anything word for word. It SHOULD BE illegal to change music from royalty free to copyright because of the abuse that is being done by doing so. (I've heard of others having this same issue, EVEN WHEN USING KZfaqS OWN ROYALTY FREE MUSIC THEY DIRECTLY PROVIDED FOR THIS PURPOSE!) It's terrible how artists will sell their music royalty free, wait for people to use it, then copyright it just to make claims and make even more money off their music. They used to say video game music was free to use in youtube videos (I'm assuming ones without vocals), but even games like Brotato has had their musician make copyright claims on videos. It is crazy that you can simply stream a video game and get a copyright claim. Copyright on music is such a terrible thing to have to deal with. Also, Zynga (Facebook games) do not allow any recording of their games and so anyone making a video showing the games, will get a copyright claim/strike. Honestly, copyright issues terrify me. I'm soo paranoid that anything that I make, will be close enough to something that IS copyright, that I will get sued for copyright infringement. There needs to be a way to scan images, video, audio for copyright and if it passes as not infringing, then it needs to never be able to be retroactively claimed for copyright infringement. I fear I will spend years making something with all my heart and soul and stress put into it, then make a lot of money, then get sued and lose all the money I made, plus all the money I spent to get what I needed to make it and be further sued for money I don't have, putting me in debt, making all that time, not only worth nothing, but actually costing me money to have had wasted my time all because of a copyright claims that I intentionally avoided violated, but unintentionally was close enough to something I didn't know existed to get copyright claims. Still, I want to give a thank you to musicians and artists of all kinds who have made content. Money motivates people to do things they otherwise wouldn't do and we all understand that. Fair Use rules and Royalty Free are supposed to protect people who follow the rules. Changing the Fair Use rules to retroactively exclude previously acceptable content from monetization or to give copyright claims is unacceptable. Changing from Royalty Free or music purchased for the purposes of being explicitly used for commercial purposes and then making it copyright and claiming you do not have the rights to use it, is also unacceptable. I understand you wanting to guarantee some income for your time and work and I understand that not being able to rely on monetization due to changing rules/laws is devastating to motivation and disrespectful of your time and can cause financial problems, which puts the security of feeding and housing your family at risk. I also understand that sometimes, you can pick music first and use that music to inspire themes, colors, editing, timing and so on, so simply removing the music part or changing it to something else, can be detrimental to the cohesiveness of the video. I hope you can find a way to keep this profitable, without relying on people like me without money to spend, to still be able to enjoy your content without piracy.

Why don't you make a Patreon, put there for 2 week or so in exclusivity then put it publicly? And if you need more money, make them with a sponsor when they are public.

I prefer there not being any exclusive vids, that goes for both limited and permanent. Being included in some sort of shout out or credits section is nice 😀 I know some creators only bill subscribers per upload. This might be a nice thing to do to keep yourself motivated to deliver, or if you need a break you can do so without billing your supporters when there is downtime.

Even if you were to put his content on Twitch, he’d get a copyright notice for the music he was using anyway. It’s the same difference.
