One of the mysteries of International rugby is why it took Ireland 111 years (2016) to finally beat the All Blacks. Ireland had a great team during the 1970s with players like Mike Gibson, Fergus Slattery, and Willie John McBride. 10-10 1973 and narrow losses to the ABs 15-6 1974, 11-3 1976, and 10-6 1978. Any of these games could well of gone Irelands way but it wasnt to be.

People do not realise how strong the 5 nations was back then especially with Wales as the top team in the world during the 70s!

It,s not arrogance you smell we just hate losing the legacy of the black Jersey is always there and not to let the players who have worn it before you down, meads lochore,wineray don clarke,George nepia,Cyril brownlie,micheal jones super sid to name a few

There's always a horrible smell of *ugly bitterness* towards the All Blacks too, due to their *success* in the history of the game! So sad really!
