The Australian's Greg Sheridan says "loads and loads” of people under 30 and 25 voted for the political arm of the IRA because the Irish “suffered from the most terrible ideological education where they’re not taught any history”.
Sinn Féin won 37 seats in the recent Republic of Ireland election and won the popular vote by over two per cent, up by more than 10 per cent from the 2016 election.
Mr Sheridan said “nobody over 65 voted for Sinn Féin,” and those who did voted for “people who have never repudiated the most sickening violence”.
He told Sky News hosts Alan Jones and Peta Credlin “modern Ireland should be ashamed of this”.
