This was a 'live' TV performance on Solid Gold. Like many of the TV shows in the 80's, it was actually lip-synching. I remixed with stereo music and made some visual enhancements.
***The tape was originally ripped and dubbed by a friend Anthony Ochoa some years ago, and many thanks to him.

I'm bawling my eyes out...a puddle of tears at my feet watching this. My niece was about 8 yrs old when this came out, she was born with severe cerebral palsy...couldn't even tie her own shoes but when this song came on she would....just....light up and try to clap her hands and I swear her feet were dancing in her little wheel chair made us all grown-ups a blubbering mess, a happy mess mind u. She died last year and we played this at her funeral.....i can't go on....God bless u Irene Cara. What a performance.

A pretty bad dispute with her record company dragged for years prevented her from making more hits afterwards it was such a shame. Also Whitney Houston up and rising didn't help, also the Queen of pop Madonna dominated the media all at the same time right after or before this mega hit She was a sweet heart in person had kissed me on my chic. I've had pleasure to met her in many occasions. I'm so sad of her passing.

Irene Cara was truly a musical genius. This song, for which she wrote the lyrics in 1983, is one of the all-time great music hits of the 1980s. It won several awards, including an Oscar for best original song in a film. It is one of the most influential songs of that period, and it is Miss Cara's greatest achievement. When she performs this number in stage, she not only displays her impressive singing voice, but also her great dancing skills as well. She was a true song-and -dance woman in every sense of the word. This number, along with her other accomplishments, is part of her legacy, and it will live on forever. Rest peacefully, Irene Cara, you were a giant among pop stars of your generation.

@slamcrank
@slamcrank Жыл бұрын
@@TheDarkDresser That's correct. She co-wrote the lyrics with Keith Forsey. Cara was indeed, though, a fierce talent with a tremendously caring heart (as Peter Rice wrote above). She may not be mentioned as much as her contemporaries like Whitney, but that's mostly because she was not a person for tabloids etc. Mentioning her name in musician circles (and I am told in dance circles as well, though I'm only part of the music world) brings with it an enormous amount of respect. And as an aside, while this performance in this video was a lip-synced, you might want to check out her performance on the MDA benefit show from 1983 to hear her do it live. The album version was a composite of three takes in the studio (Rusk Sound Studio) - the intro was from Take 3, the rest of the song was from the 1st take, with one ad-lib added from the 2nd take at the end of the song.

Does not sound like a fan or anyone who loves this amazing song ! To love the song is to LOVE this beautiful and so very talented artist. She is a STAR! Dances, yes , sings, yes , beautiful, heck ya, writes or co-writes, Yes! Regardless of her singing live or not, she is a great performer ,way more talented than most artists today, I never comment but i give credit where it is due , Love is better than hate, so everyone hating step back and watch irene dance and mesmerize on Solid Gold once again! Irene just shakes off all them haters! It was written by Irene Cara, Giorgio Moroder, and Keith Forsey.

twoducks you know someone put a video of dance party USA on Facebook a couple of weeks ago. It was from 1986, and there was an outpouring of comments. Suffice to say we, from the 80s, really miss that era.

I’m a 30 year old guy and I can’t be the only one who feels like this… Irene is wayyy more attractive and sexy here than most women today. Something about the combination of her being confident enough not to let it all hang lose and the confidence and passion she has here. Wow, what a beauty. Ladies, take note. There are still guys out there who find modesty and confidence attractive 😊

Lyrics First, when there's nothing But a slow glowing dream That your fear seems to hide Deep inside your mind All alone, I have cried Silent tears full of pride In a world made of steel Made of stone Well, I hear the music Close my eyes, feel the rhythm Wrap around, take a hold of my heart What a feeling Being's believin' I can have it all, now I'm dancing for my life Take your passion And make it happen Pictures come alive You can dance right through your life Now I hear the music Close my eyes, I am rhythm In a flash, it takes hold of my heart What a feeling Being's believin' I can have it all, now I'm dancing for my life Take your passion And make it happen Pictures come alive You can dance right through your life What a feeling What a feeling (I am music now) Being's believin' (I am rhythm now) Pictures come alive You can dance right through your life What a feeling (I can really have it all) What a feeling (pictures come alive when I call) I can have it all (I can really have it all) Have it all (pictures come alive when I call) (Call, call, call, call) I can have it all (being's believin') Being's believin' (take your passion) Make it happen (What a feeling) What a feeling)
