Lock iPhone apps on iOS 17 with a passcode or face id. A new trick that lets you lock individual apps on iOS 17 with face id or a passcode.
Protect iPhone apps with your face id or a passcode that you choose. iOS 17 still doesn't offer a feature to lock apps but using this trick you can lock any app you want with a passcode or face id.

It’s crazy to me that apple made it that you can’t see hidden or deleted photos without Face ID or passcode but we still don’t have a simple way to lock anything else without going through processes like this

For people pointing out that the automation can just be deleted - whoever snatches your unlocked phone isn’t going to have a clue there’s a lock automation running in the background. The first app they launch they think will be of any use - Phone, Amazon, etc - basically bricks the phone as they’ll have no way to unlock it.

How about the shortcuts app itself? Like they can delete the automation via accessing the shortcuts app

I had that too. You can put a time limit on the shortcut app for 1 minute with a passcode.

@@saharacondra8445Nice idea but you would have to use the app a minute every morning to be secure right? Otherwise they have a minute which is easily enough. Haven’t found a solution though.

This hack is sooo much better than the time limit one because it still allows for notifications to work. But it would be better if the process of face id was automatic to not have to swip up (like in apps that implement the face id feature). Shame on apple for not having done this already

OK, looks good, but the shortcuts app itself is not in the list to be selected, so a smart operator just opens the shortcuts app and disables the automation. Now I like the iPhone, but I also like Android, and this method is typical clunky, over-engineered iphone technobabble.

How to fix FACE ID NOT AVAILABLE Glitch ( i fixed it just now) (ios 17.0.1) 1. Go to Accesibility. Go to Face id and attention. Toggle of all the options and then turn it on again. 2. Now go to face id. Remove your old face id data (if setup) and try to register it again. If the Error message still appear. Do it again. If still nothing happens then do the GOLDEN STEP (3) 3. Hard reset your iphone (completely normal) by pressing volume up button and volume down button and then hold power button untill apple logo apprears. Then turn on your phone again and set up the face id (Try setup again and again). It will surely work for everyone. ❤️

The thing about this that sucks is that you can’t lock the shortcuts app your using to lock all the other apps which means all a person has to do is go in shortcuts and delete the lock on all apps which defeats the whole purpose of locking all your apps anyway it’s like buying a new lock for your car then leaving the keys taped to it 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

@@Jbotw23 now I know😂 but interestingly only if you are paranoid and intended to intrude others privacy so that you will check Shortcuts and delete this before going into the app you want to use! Otherwise you will get yourself locked Maybe this is the beauty of this method At the same time I don't know what's the situation that you had your iPhone unlocked to someone else you cannot trust

If you don't have content to create please don't post repeated contents. I have seen this method posted of locking apps plenty of times (6 times over the year from iOS 15.4 onwards) by you. Trying to milk views by re-uploading the same content again and again and just changing the software version in the video title. "How to lock apps in XX iOS version"
