LIMS2-AMBIDEX Whole Body Motion Test Using Parabolic Blending Trajectories
- Combined motions of two 7-DOF arms, one 3-DOF waist, and one 3-DOF neck.
- Smooth trajectory generated by using a parabolic blending of 11 via points in joint space.
- The trajectory is predetermined. Sensor feedback is not used.

It's uncommon to appreciate great mechanical designs and 20k subscribers here worth very much: if someone subbed on that sort of channels - he is truly into it, not just another bystander. There are lots of technically interesting things out there, like SALTO robot: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kKx3q9F3nrnVdHk.html, this channel has only 1K subs, 20 times less! But it's totally OK, there is no need to enforce someone into robotics stuff, similar to art galleries - person would be impressed much more, if he went there at his own wish at the proper time

those arms have some of the most humanlike movements, 3 axis movement and good software can really take you far, and in a compact size no less

@@nicok.1491 these pulleys amplifies the torque by a factor of 6 if i'm not mistaken , meaning that the robot is both light weight and relatively cheap when you compare it to a robot who uses servos with alot more torque that the torque the servos of this robot has

A good start, for sure. It's really impressive how far we've already come with robotics technology. Several upgrades and enhancements later, we'll probably start seeing nuanced movement, short shots, long shots, stopping midway, stopping midway but the ball already left, stuff like that.

This is my favorite actuation system with the cams and rollers, and the 2 dof rolling joint mechanism is one of the most brilliant ever made.. I can't wait to see what else comes out of this lab!

So, does the pulley system use a gear reduction between the BLDC and pulleys, or is the series of pulleys that serve as the reduction? How backdrivable is it?

This is awesome! Blows my mind what some people can do with technology, amazing job! Are there any plans in the future to attempt to used this for any applications/tests where it is not hard coded, such as using VR Trackers in software and attempting a form of a remote control movement? The joints would seem to line up much more fluidly to the human body than other concept/test platforms I've seen online.

They are using fixed code for now because they are only testing hardware-wise. If they want to, they can now develop an "autonomous" code for balancing and stuff, or just sell it for absurd prices for Boston Dynamics or whatever.

I can't wait to see an actual full robot like this. With legs I mean. I know there is boston dynamics with their atlas, but to be honest thats kinda clunky. Humans are such highly complex things and the arms+hands and legs are so incredibly hard to re-create. Can't wait until I see some robots that can move exactly like humans, walk, sprintm jump and so on.

The day might come when it's more fun to watch robosports than human (and much cheaper). If they are impressive enough (they're getting very impressive) then people will pay to watch them. Imagine China v Russia v US Robo Olympics.
