@@irinareina it sounds like you may be suffering from trans epidermal water loss and that is why you were having acne a lot of people think that acne has to do with oily skin you can have acne if you were extremely dry as well that’s why I had my acne so I’m assuming when you used those silicone patches after you’ve done your skin care that’s sealing everything in and not allowing anything to evaporate you’re doing the right things just focus on moisturizing your skin and keeping your skin barrier health! ❤

It took me so long to fix my skin by healing the skin barrier. For years I tried every product (same as you-red light, Tretinoin, Paula’s Choice, BHA, the Ordinary chemical exfoliant, slugging with Vaseline) NOTHING worked. Finally, I started using a gentle cleanser, La Roche Posay Cicaplast as a moisturizer, a sulfur mask 3X week, and silicon patches to heal. I feel mislead from all those years in high school/college using harsh benzoyl peroxide and chemical exfoliants, which just made everything worse.

Neutrogena makes a Hydro Boost face mask that comes in two gel pieces and covers the whole face. I have not used it but it looks similar in videos. Maybe it can be used overnight, but you would likely still need the topper face mask that goes around your head or on your ears to keep it in place still

If your skin barrier is damaged, go very simple with your skincare routine, try to find products with Ceramide or Allantoin, and like she said, never ever use actives until your skin is healed. Hope it helps ❤ Edit: oh and opt for physical sunscreen instead of chemical sunscreen!

AGREE! Had problems with my skin barrier since about 10 month, I tried cica, panthenol, peptide, hyaluronic acid products, also rosacea related products with zinc... (not all at the same time tho xD) Nothing worked right. And then I picked up a random Ceramide cream, it was about 8 dollar on sale... AND IT WORKED, finally! That also was an instant result, my skin was soooo nice right after the first use, I was shocked. Now I use it every night as last step! If you have skin problems, you should give it a try!

This makes sense! I am post acne and the amount of actives i used to treat it has damaged my skin barrier and cause my eczema to flare up. After a point i gave up and just started slugging to treat my immediate eczema problem. And while it was messy it helped so much, with zero actives, just a heavy moisturizer under vaseline. This mask will be less messier

What is slugging?
@lovrboi
@lovrboi 29 күн бұрын
slugging is applying a thick occlusive product (usually petrolatum based- vaseline, for example) as your final step in your PM skincare routine. it essentially seals in and amplifies whatever products you applied underneath it. it can be great for locking in hydration overnight and helping to heal your skin barrier, but you have to be careful to not use active ingredients when you do it (retinoids especially, for example) because amplifying the affects of those on your skin is dangerous and can very easily lead to irritation
@LordAculex
@LordAculex Ай бұрын
I think its important to mention that the thick cream isn't the right move for every skintype. I for example have Oily but still dry and sensitive skin wich is not compatible with thick cream. Instead you want to use a very light or even oil free gel. But appart from that I think this mask is a great way to let the moisturising get even deeper in your skin.
@irinareina
@irinareina Ай бұрын

@@evital0o0oThat's not silly at all. A lot of people will use whatever worked for someone else, just because they saw the amazing results. Some people are aware what is really going to do goods to their skin, but some will follow blindly and then blame the creator if no results show

Honey the older one gets the less double cleanse you can do. I used to do it when i was younger now in my late 30s my face stings after a double cleanse. It’s not a one size fits all. You should also do your research and not totally depend on what an influencer says as everyone’s skin is different. Often the influencer is telling you what works for them or they are paid to influence you.

Wait wait! This is not to heal acne, it is to heal skin barrier from using too much anti acne products. Just patches itself won’t fix acne, but it would fix post acne and help heal skin from actives(tretinoin, acids) My skin was damaged with actives, that I used for a long time and silicone patches helped to heal it. But I also do a lot to treat the cause of acne (in my case it is PCOS): diet, sport, stress management. My acne are going away because of this, but patches are helping with the texture, post acne and overall look of the skin.

I bought a silicon mask because of you. All those heavy face creams now and the cosrx honey mask. I'm able to use them now cause I don't need to worry about them and I can even sleep with my body facing down and my head to the side (idk what kind of sleeper is that lol).

I use adapalene and I find it much more gentle, but still effective. Strongest retinoid you can get over the counter. Closely related to tretinoin chemically, but it is different. Marketed for acne, still affective for anti-aging. Been using for 10 years.
@issingno7814
@issingno7814 Ай бұрын
@@Hiimjess8 yeah I tried that when I finally accepted that I can’t tolerate tretinoin. I guess by that point, my barrier was to disrupted for adapalene. I can’t even tolerate low percentages of retinal, even after months of no use of any active ingredients. It’s great when it works, but it definitely can damage your skin long-term when you don’t be careful. Guys remember Irritation is not necessarily a sign that it works.

I am hesitant to trying this because acne forms more easily in anaerobic environments with no oxygen, and there is no oxygen under your mask, so possibly it heals your skin a lot but also at the same time could increase acne
@irinareina

Yeah! I agree, I think it could be more damaging than beneficial if you have a lot of active acne. This is really just to heal your barrier and post acne. I have only few active spots so it worked for me

got the one mentioned in the description: really didn’t work for me. the silicone never seemed to stick, also drying them sticky side up made them flytraps for dust and tiny particles. i love this idea thought but those specific silicone mask wasn’t the best!

@irinareina 27 күн бұрын
thanks for sharing your experience 😌 for me silicone is not really sticky too, that’s why I secure it with the mask, I don’t know how people sleep with only patches on their faces 😅 And about dust it is true, if you live it for a long time outside it can become dirty 😬 that’s why I dry mine in the drawer or cover them with something, even though mine does not get dusty (maybe because I have humid weather) But I agree, this technique definitely needs a lot of improvement 😌

What you think about a bio oil underneath? I have a very dry skin with a bit of small "pore" scars, the ice pick kind of scars, I've been dermorolling and slowly helps cuz I don't have a lot, but bio oil is generally used for scarring, it's just that it contains so many different oils that it includes a little bit of retinol oil, but I think not in an amount to irritate the skin.

The only thing that disturbs me is the line of demarcation left at the end of the patch (near the under eye), I am very susceptible to those line and I am afraid that after having them every night they can become permanent. After how much time did yours replenish and go away? Could they be considered similar to sleeping position lines (which can become permanent wrinkles)?

I was trying to research why the silicone patches help with skin texture and scarring. And I couldn't really find anything but from what little I know about the human body, I think that the skin cells covered by the silicone patch absorb all of the moisture from the cream and thats what makes it look so plump and untextured. I was wondering, do the results fade over the day, or does it continue looking as good as it does in the morning when you take the patches of?
@irinareina
@irinareina 18 күн бұрын
Yes, results of this extra glow is fading over the day. But I did notice that over all condition of the skin is much better. You are completely right, the silicone is not letting moisture to escape, it creates perfect environment for skin to heal and look plumper after the mask

I wonder whether it would work for my skin, usually when I block my face (i.e. mask during covid/ sun screen) I break out. And my main problem is that it creates hyperpigmentation and I'm stuck with that scar forever :( Has anyone came across this too?
@irinareina
@irinareina Ай бұрын
I was breaking out from COVID masks. But it also because of the environment. I think if you wash your face and wash patches before it won’t have bacteria to spread. You can also use high frequency wand or blue LED lights to kill the acne causing bacteria before applying the patches. But I also heard that dermatologists don’t recommend using “slugging” with very oily skin, because pores can clog. So if your skin is very oily, maybe it’s better use salicylic acid

Can I do this without the patches? I mean just the silicon mask on top? Have you tried it that way before? 🥰 And what are the additional benefits of the patches over just using the mask. As I have understood they are both made out of silicon right? Thank you for your reply ❤️❤️❤️

I've used just the mask before (usually sold as "reusable silicon sheet mask"), and you do get some gaps depending on the unique contours of your face. So it would still mostly work, but you wouldn't have quite as good of "coverage."

I healed my skin accidently by trying nasal spray as a "cream". Also tried everything else over the last years - nothing worked! But since I read about dexpanthenol and vit. B5 (pantothenic acid) and it's healing benefits for acne, I tried my Bepanthen nasal spray on tiny spots that didn't wanted to heal in a long time. Didn't expected anything from this experiment. And the next day, I could remove the upper layer of skin and a shiny rose skin tone was under it. 😮 Since then, I use this spray right after cleaning and toning in the whole face. Nothing more. And my skin is getting better and smoother and softer every day ☺️ This would definitely NOT work with any other nasal spray, since this one is formulated very minimalistic. And the dexpanthenol is for sure the most important ingredient. Perhaps I am deficient in this nutrient? Next purchase at amazon will be vit.B5-capsules ✌🏼
