With all seriousness, the British needs to give up Northern Ireland, the Irish aren’t just going to roll over, they’re gonna fight if if it means they can get it back, but without seriousness, this is me and my friends in a nutshell: Friend: there’s only one good song, despacit- Me: *slaps them* WHAT ABOUT “ROCKY ROAD TO DUBLIN”!?!?

In the merry month of june, from me home I started left the girls of Tuam, nearly broken hearted saluted father dear, kissed me darlin' mother drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother, then off to reap the corn, leave where I was born, cut a stout black thorn to banish ghost an goblins, bought a pair of brogues, rattlin' over the bugs, frightened all the dogs, on the rocky road to Dublin, one two three four five hunt the hare and turn it down the rocky road and all the way to Dublin whack-fo-lol-le-ra Well in Mullingar that night, I rested limbs so weary, started by daylight, me spirits bright and cheery, took a drop o' the pure that keeps me heart from sinkin', that's the paddy's cure whenever he's on for drinking. see the Lassies smile, laughing all the while at me curious style, (it) would set your heart a-bubbling, asked if I was hired, wages I required 'til I was nearly tired of the rocky road to Dublin one two three four five hunt the hare and turn it down the rocky road and all the way to Dublin whack-fo-lol-le-ra Well in Dublin next arrived, I thought it'd be a pity to be so soon deprived a view of that fine city, so then I took a stroll down among the quality, me bundle it was stolen in a neat locality, something crossed me mind, then I looked behind, no bundle could I find upon me stick a-wobblin', inquiring for the rogue, said me connaught brogue wasn't much in vogue on the rocky road to Dublin one two three four five hunt the hare and turn it down the rocky road and all the way to Dublin whack-fo-lol-le-ra Well from there I got away, me spirits never failin', landed on the quay just as the ship was sailin', captain at me roared, said that no room had he, then I jumped aboard, a cabin found for Paddy, down among the pigs, played some hearty rigs, danced some hearty jigs, the water 'round be bubblin', when off holy head wished meself was dead or better far instead on the rocky road to Dublin one two three four five hunt the hare and turn it down the rocky road and all the way to Dublin whack-fo-lol-le-ra The boys of Liverpool, when me safely landed, called meself a fool, I could no longer stand it, blood began to boil, temper I was losin', poor ould Erin's Isle, they began abusin', Hoorah me soul says I, shaleighly I let fly, Galway boys were by and saw I was a-hobblin', with a loud hooray, joined in the effray, we quickly cleared the way for the rocky road to Dublin one two three four five hunt the hare and turn it down the rocky road and all the way to Dublin whack-fo-lol-le-ra

Niamh Ó Briain ava greetings from quebec province, canada i know irish people and french canadians historycally hated each other but we have so much in common our peoples are both catholic we both hated the brittish (i still do im pro independance for quebec en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_sovereignty_movement ) and many aspects of our culture in quebec are derived from irish culture ( folk music folk tales etc.) one of my ancestors was irish and as far as im concerned irish people are my brothers you included the irish people and culture helped us develop our own identity and culture many forgot that but me im gratefull for it god bless you have a good day my friend

[Verse 1] Well, in the merry month of June now from me home I started Left the girls of Tuam nearly broken hearted Saluted father dear, kissed me darling mother Drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother Then off to reap the corn and leave where I was born Cut a stout blackthorn to banish ghosts and goblins A brand new pair of brogues to rattle over the bogs And frighten all the dogs on the rocky road to Dublin [Chorus] One, two, three four, five Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road And all the ways to Dublin, whack follol de dah [Verse 2] In Mullingar that night I rested limbs so weary Started by daylight next morning light and early Took a drop of the pure to keep me heart from shrinkin' Thats the Paddy's cure whene'er he's on for drinkin' To hear the lassies smile, laughin' all the while At me curious style, 'twould set your heart a bubblin' They asked me was I hired and wages I required Till I was almost tired of the rocky road to Dublin [Chorus] One, two, three four, five Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road And all the ways to Dublin, whack follol de dah [Verse 3] In Dublin next arrived, I thought it such a pity To be so soon deprived a view of that fine city Then I took a stroll, all among the quality Bundle it was stole, all in a neat locality Something crossed me mind, when I looked behind No bundle could I find upon me stick a wobblin' Enquiring after the rogue, said me Connacht brogue It wasn't much in vogue on the rocky road to Dublin [Chorus] One, two, three four, five Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road And all the ways to Dublin, whack follol de dah [Verse 4] From there I got away, me spirits never failing Landed on the quay, just as the ship was sailing Captain at me roared, said that no room had he When I jumped aboard, a cabin found for Paddy Down among the pigs, did some hearty rigs I played some hearty jigs, the water round me bubbling When off Holyhead I wished meself was dead Or better far instead on the rocky road to Dublin [Chorus] One, two, three four, five Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road And all the ways to Dublin, whack follol de dah [Verse 5] The boys of Liverpool, well when we safely landed Called meself the fool, I could no longer stand it Blood began to boil, temper I was losing Poor old Erin's Isle they began abusing "Hurrah me soul" says I, me shillelagh I let fly Galway boys were by and saw I was a hobblin' With a low a' "hurray!" they joined in the affray Quickly clear the way for the rocky road to Dublin [Chorus] One, two, three four, five Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road And all the ways to Dublin, whack follol de dah

I like how their music is at full contrast with their bleak surroundings and weather. I wish I could visit Ireland just once before I die. I don't want to go to its fancy cities and pubs, I just want to stand on a rocky, moss-laden cliff on a drizzly day and watch the furious sea beneath while dark clouds obscure the sky and me - all alone - enjoying some home-made, moonshine whisky.
