@@JessicaCEP Jessica, I think it was either Ciara or Griánne who asked, "Where are the colors?" This and Aidan's hilarious, "No one has ever fucked in this room...even by accident," are what I meant by sterile. For all their opulence, they look like no one lives in them. And the real horror is that no one probably does. They look like they are 'second homes,' mansions the very rich live in when they want to get an 'experience' of Florida, instead of living there. When Fitzgerald said 'the very rich are different from you and me,' THIS is what he meant.

As a Floridian, I can tell you that no one actually lives in these houses. They are owned by huge corporation as tax write-offs. They are used for event launches and charity functions for the most part. There are some WAY more beautiful mansions here for $10M to $20M! People actually raise families in those "cheaper" estates.

To second, as someone who lives near Augusta, Georgia (think the Masters golf tournament) the mansions like this can also be used to house upper management like C/V level during events. Still used by corporations for other things like launches and functions, but that’s the primary thing here.

Ah I see, thanks. Not Florida but when I was gonna move to California with wealthy family, I was looking for a house for us and saw is uglyass asphalt/glass one and was like who tf would live there?! Then years later, on this magazine cover at the supermarket “Ashton Kutcher (or whoever it was)’s new house” and it was like, oh... ok then... I guess that answers that... still an ugly af eyesore...

Tikki masala was invented by a British chef. Curry is very popular there, as is other Asian cuisine.The old chestnut of bland British food is just that-old.

I once had a student from Boston tell me he had never had Italian food. I'm pretty sure my job was open as I looked back at him. He said "my family is of Irish descent. Anything except salt and pepper scares us"

I love the mansion videos. Maybe you guys could do historic mansions, expensive rustic cabins or tiny homes for sale. Also, converted houses that used to be firehouses, banks, schools, libraries, churches etc.

If you do another one of these in the US you need to do states like Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana so you can get some good off-grid and super nature-y vibes. But the castle idea is superb too, to be honest. Or like French chateaus and such.

We have some amazing places for sale here in the Adirondacks as well with astounding views. There was a place on an island with a heliport not long ago over towards the High Peaks.

"I feel like I can hear the wind blowing." Ciara, that's just the next hurricane rolling in. These places are only a few meters above sea level, so they may well be gone in 20 years. Not a wise investment. You could do better in Ireland.

I live in Palm Beach County, near some of these places (the one in Jupiter and the ones in Lake Worth). I also have done some work in houses like these. The biggest was a brand new home that went from the ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway (similar to way the the one at 7:58 does). A bit over 40,000 square feet and, according to the contractor, $120,000,000. The rooms are absolutely massive. To give you an idea of scale, my house is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house and just over 2000 square feet. One of the kid's bedrooms was bigger than my house. I was absolutely dumbfounded that a kid's bedroom could be bigger than my house. A really stunningly ridiculous fun fact (or, maybe an unfun fact) about these houses is that they usually only occupied a couple of months per year.

For the houses on the barrier islands,One side is the ocean and the other side is called the inter coastal, which is also saltwater. Also Alligators are found in freshwater, rarely you see one in salt water

My house was 2 bedroom, 1 bath when we bought it, added on 1 bedroom. Raised 2 children here, and have lived here 50 years. Cost me $20,000. in 1973. And the one thing I've learned is that the smallness made us closer. Even if I had millions to spend, I'd still only want a modest house.....with a great view. I just don't understand why people have the need for such extravagence. Not for me. My house is a home. Those are just houses.

@@seeniedk, depends where it is. My similar house cost $70,500 in 2001. Now it's worth about $150,000. Perfectly nice house but nothing special. Big lot though.

That old saying is so weird, but ti be honest they rich would most likely pay some shlub to kidnap the poor so they can eat them. If we taste like what we eat, the rich would probably taste like caviar and The poor would taste of McNuggets, slim Jim's, and energy drinks. No one is eating the vegeterians because they probably taste like kale and wheat germ. Why go thru all the trouble for that.

The sad thing about these houses is that they're all on a barrier island. The ocean is indeed on one side, and the Intercoastal Waterway is the other. Also, the reason no-one's home in the summer is because it's hurricane season. And you can't reason with hurricane season.

The lack of character of these houses is sad. The proximity to other houses is a deal breaker too. If you have that much money you can afford a chunk of property large enough to keep your neighbors far enough away from having to look at or talk to them.

The rich politicians who graft money from you tell you that in 10 years those houses will be under water...right before they build houses right next to the beach...usually mansions. The water has only risen 1 mm in 100 years and obama himself built a mansion on the beach. Wake up to the graft. They have been telling us climate climate change since the 1930s while taking more taxes from you and getting richer. Stop being a sheep.

I've looked at the most expensive houses in my state, and they are mainly wastes of space and money. Like houses with long endless hallways that just lead to yet another room for yet another person that doesn't actually live there. Imagine losing your keys or your phone, really? How long would you be searching? It takes an hour plus in my four bedroom...imagine 21 rooms. To me a house is shelter, but also a place to connect with your family and friends. Who wouldn't mind a bigger house with one or two extra rooms for your whatever, but no one needs "a gift wrapping room." You just don't.

A distillery tour comes to mind... Before air conditioning was everywhere, there were properties that had small pool like things to cool off in, both in the yard and some in the house. Many of them were built with stone..a dipping pool.

I looked at houses in Panama City Beach, and every house was built within 6 FEET of the next! You either don't want windows, or you'll need blinds, for Ll of them, because you can practically see what they're eating, for dinner, or what they ate, when they go in the bathroom! No thank you! For those prices, I want lots of land, and a log cabin!

I'd love to have a kitchen like that. Drawers galore for storing tools, dried herbs 🌿 or what ever. One could cook a banquet in there. That is a closet. Wardrobes are big pieces of furniture that take up space in the room.

1:28 a friend I visited lived in Ft. Lauderdale and there was a dock for his apartment building. That whole area has canals all over, so yes you can hop in your boat and cruise over to your friend's house, even on the other side of town.

....and salt isn't even a spice! it's an mineral. Spices are usually from the bottom end of a plant (roots, seeds etc), and herbs are from the top part (leaves).

I grew up in Florida, and these houses are actually more interesting than the beachfront mansions near our neighborhood. Maybe when you hit the 50 million mark you can afford better architects; the mansions near us were always pastel boxes, think warehouses with windows and expensive lawns.

Not in Florida, but I once worked for a service company for contractors. One of their oil-multimillionaire clients decided to start exercising. His first move? Build a full-sized gymnasium in his backyard, of course. Full basketball court, decked out weight room, bowling alley, the works.

You need to do a video about, 1. who is going on the next try work/vacation visit to America? 2. What places/States you are going to visit in America? Are you winging it, or are you going to definite touristy sites? What mode of transportation? Train, plane, a rented motorhome, van, bus, RV? Who's fan homes, hotels, motels, RV park will you be staying in. 2023 might be the year.😁 ✌🏼🦁

You guys should react to expensive apartments from places like New York. Chicago, etc. The houses seemed crazy but the apartments seem even more nuts since you get less for your money lol
