I can confirm that people who speak with accent become like that when talking to people of the same region. Short story. I was living in Athens, the capital of Hellas, or Greece for the uncultured, but I am from Crete, a large island part of that nation famous for it's distinct and sometimes incomprehensible accent. I was in a drug store picking up some meds and got a call from my mother. I went *full on* villager mode and spoke as such. When the call ended I turned to the pharmacist and said "Is my medication ready?" and she responded with "Oh! So you *do* know how to speak Greek!". I didn't get offended, we had a laugh, I got my meds, that's all folks. I hope you found my story at least a bit interesting. Enjoy the rest of your day!

I normally hate these types of comments but these videos are genuinely the only thing keeping me sane at the moment. My cat had to go to the emergency vets about 5 hours ago because my dog grabbed her hard enough to puncture a lung. You couldn't even see any broken skin, and if it had been any other cat they'd likely have been fine but she's just naturally tiny, under half what most of her relatives weigh. You can physically see when she's had a meal recently, so while she's not malnourished looking, she is very blatantly just skin, bones and organs. Right now I just have to wait until she either recovers on her own, which she might if the damage is small enough, or she'll need part of her lung removed which she's unlikely to survive so would be euthanised instead. She might also just be euthanised overnight if her breathing gets strained enough. I'm working on the 'no news is good news' method at the moment; the vet was going to x-ray her right after we left so if she did, no news must mean its got at least a chance of healing instead of immediate need for surgery? But I don't know that for certain. She could be dead right now and I wouldn't know. I'm just trying to stay awake and not crying long enough to be able to deal with any news that comes. I haven't cried yet, I don't think I will until I know for sure, since then it'll either be grief or relief, but I don't want to cry just for not knowing. The whole way there we were joking about how she's the most annoying one and had probably orchestrated the whole thing in protest of the fact that her relatives had gone to the vets recently (regular checkups) and she hadn't. That since it was emergency she was determined to rack up a higher bill than her relatives combined. That of course she had to go during hours where she'd be the only patient wih everyone doting on her. I swear every 'mean' stereotype people have about cats comes from someone meeting her; she's queen of the known universe in her mind, we all live to serve her, and her family members are just pretenders who need a good smack. Her latest trick is walking up to them and then rolling over on her back and swatting at the air as if they were attacking her. 50% of the time I just call her 'nuisance', 30% just 'bother', 10% 'war criminal' and finally 10% her 'actual' name (which it still isnt; shes called Milly, short for Millificent, but I almost always full name her to Millicent just because it sounds funnier to me). When we realised it was serious and likely expensive, I said aloud "Wow, so I'm paying potentially thousands of pounds to be annoyed for another few years. I'm investing in my own annoyance." I love her so much even though I literally dont know why, she's objectively not very nice but she's so certain of her place in the world it just pulls you in. The chihuahua of the cat world, absolutely tiny yet absolutely lacking the self preservation skills you'd think would accompany her size. The whole reason she even got injured was because she entirely needlessly decided to run across the room and dart between my dog's legs to beat him up the stairs (stairs she was in no desparate need of going up). She's a tiny, constantly screaming idiot who lives only to vex people, but I am going to be destroyed if anything happens to her. Its weird but her complete lack of self preservation almost made you believe she was somehow immortal and aware of that fact herself. Her being injured never even was a possibility in my mind. We were joking too that death had probably been scammed if he was trying to claim her, and she'd be back within a day anyway thanks to how annoying she was. Sorry for dumping all this but I haven't spoken to anyone about it apart from my mum, who was there at the time and completely ineffectual (hence why I've had to shut off my emotions until the situation is more firmly dealt with, a role I'm frankly sick of having to play), and my Nan, who when told Milly had a punctured lung, interrupted me before I could explain the healing vs euthanasia routes, and then casually asked if we'd be picking her up the next morning. I just needed to process in between further distraction.

@CoRLex-jh5vx7 ай бұрын
@@naan000 hi, thanks for asking, we're both good!! She's completely recovered physically and getting there mentally/emotionally. Today was actually the first day she got back to her usual routine of following me around the house (whenever I'm without my dog, that is). She used to do it constantly whenever she had the chance but has been generally timid about moving around the house too much since the injury, mostly just sticks to my mum's bedroom still. She's gained SOME intelligence as a result, but still tries to dart to her hiding space whenever she hears my dog leave my room, which she will very stupidly try to go through him to get to. It'd be a stretch to say he understood the damage he did that day but he has been a lot more calm around all the cats since, so peace is lasting decently well. Anyway, she'll always be a proud carrier of SGCD (stupid ginger cat disease), but she's generally not any worse for wear and I think the experience made her mature to a slightly more appropriate level for a cat fast approaching senior status :)

The behind the scenes stuff is actually pretty educational. It almost feels like gold dust seeing how someone prepares their videos, talks to their editor and stuff.
@TheStellaGaming2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, my favorite parts of some videos are clips that the editor missed and didn't cut out where it's just like: "We'll quickly do that off-camera, which will be a couple seconds for you and possible hours for me ....okay, we'll cut there" *cue doing things in silence for a bit or moving slightly* "Aaaaaand- Hey everybody, we're back!" Everyone always calls the editor out in the comments, but if that's the part that you remembered the most in the video, it should be there

Colm Meaney blurted out "bollox" on Star Trek back when it was meant to only have clean language, snd they left it in because the Americans didn't think it was swear word. And I think the Irish fascination with obituaries probably comes from how fast we bury our dead. If you don't keep up to date, you could miss a funeral. I missed several friend's funerals because they were buried before I found out they where dead. The whole affair from death to burial can be over in weekend.
@captainpartycat13572 жыл бұрын

living in the southern US where a lot of our ancestry comes from Ireland and the surrounding areas, there are a lot of Irish-isms that have come over and remain in place today. Being obsessed with the forecast, who has died recently, and finding the perfect way to excuse yourself from a social situation (usually with a 'well, I shouldn't keep you') are just a few of the customs that we have in place here from our lineage. It's fascinating how many social customs are still in place after hundreds of years
