Who's the lady concertmaster and obbligato soloist? A rare sight for the '60s!!

If a singer have a real good legato with fine technique of breathing without waisting air, the tempo is easy to manage in real' lento' because this is too fast especially at the begin! Liedgesang like this piece from Mahler must be emotional, well sung in legato and musicallity is also important to honor the composer in the way he ment it and wrote. Thanks for uploading!

I;ve never heard anyone interpret this snog like this-- she makes it a child who'll be reunited on hte other side with -- a brother or mother who's already died. It's usually a lover, and her frank UNsexual intimacy is shocking at first, but by hte end of hte song -- which isn't far, but seemed like ane enormous distance -- I was totally in her grip. Fascinating, poignant in hte extreme..../

For me: too fast.....but what a lovely voice

At the beginning she seems like a little girl wandering in a petticoat through the dewy grass. Magic. Then there's a little bit of a swoop up to the peak of a phrase which spoils it, but it's still magic.

But we can recognize she must manage to sing with declining means. She's very intelligent, has a good technique (like a violin ... and she was Wolfgang Schneiderhan's wife) and the way she interprets is perhaps the only way that let her singing be audible and even interesting and charming. She lacks a little bit more of vibrato...but just in this particular music...

The solo violin takes to much vibrato, if you compare it whith Szell and Schwarzkopf, Edith Peinemann takes less and it sound pur. But Seefried sings it (still) great.
