My brother and I bought the Neato D7 as an early Christmas gift for our parents and for the fact that we get lazy about vacuuming and sweeping. Hands down I love this bot at first I had some trouble getting it to run smooth, as in making a floor plan but that’s because I didn’t read the manual first. I normally let it run at night on eco mode so it can get the whole floor space in one go but for certain rooms where I know there’s more foot traffic I let it clean that area on turbo and you can notice the difference from eco to turbo. After a few days I notice it cleans faster and more efficient due to the fact it remembers the floor plan. I had it clean my parents room, it picked up all the long strands of hair in the first go, keep in mind that a lot of the hair gets caught in the brush roller, you can get a blade brush which will eliminate that problem. I highly recommend the Neato I got mine on sale for $500 plus taxes at Best Buy.

One of the nicest things about the more budget neato is that they have the same motor and sucking power, as well as the laser navigation. The cheaper neato really only suffers on battery life and brush quality(which are interchangeable)

I've also heard the iRobot's "eye" nav system can't see well in the dark.

Great video but VaccumWars really helped with me returning my Rommba 960 for the Neato D6.

what about the maintenance? I understand that its needed to clean the robot's brush almost every time after the robot's cleans, and it's easier to clean the roomba bush than the d7 brush. * also the dust mite exposure when cleaning the brush. second, is there a difference in the filters level of efficiency against dust mites, for people who suffer from allergy.

Nothing beats the RoboRock S5.

One important thing that was not mentioned is that you have to turn the lights on in the room being cleaned for the Roomba or it will get lost, not so with the Neato D -7 (American Made BTW).

You forgot to mention that lasers work in dark. Cameras do not.

Roomba has nongo lines in beta if I'm not mistaken. I have the d7 and be prepared to lose that side brush motor after a short period of time. They use a cheap o ring that wears fast. Only way to fix it is to take it apart yourself.

Who do you think won? The Roomba S9+, or the Botvac D7? (and if we do smart vacuums again...what do you want to see us review next?)

The D7 fails because there's an error with room zones in the software. It will often not clean a zone thoroughly if you just select a single zone. This is because the software doesn't build in enough leeway for errors in tracking/navigation to a single zone. Also, the D7 simply won't clean a whole room sometimes, full stop, even in a small apartment with an easily accessible floor. There seems to be a problem again with mapping and tracking. The Neato helpdesk just seem to dismiss these problems, yet they are being reported widely on the internet.

I have the neato botvac connected and cant say enough good things about it.

What all of these reviews miss is the maintenance of the robot. For example, which robot's brushes get clogged up when vacuuming long hair and which don't?

Long story short, the Roomba S9+ cleans better but takes longer. Get the Roomba

Should've tested the Deebot 950.... It would've won every category over both of these robots. It's more powerful, can mop, offers separate "no mop lines" along with "no go lines" so you can mop or vacuum without worry, has crazy long battery life (longest ever in a robot vacuum) and is cheaper than both the Neato and Roomba.

I have 4 dogs. They shed and bring in lots of dirt. I bought the roomba s9+ and after a month i returned it. More than enough time to determine its not worth it. It doesnt clean well and it you get more errors than you would want it to.

But keep in mind, iRobot has been a company for over 30 yrs and has been cleaning homes for almost 20 yrs

I love my D7 but the Neato D7 will forget your entire floor plan! Often! Then you have remap your house which takes forever. It's a very common problem and customer service can't help you.

Great info but unfortunately ...wrong on his conclusion:( I know everyone is entitled to their opinions:) The auto empty is a must and the iRobot wins suction on carpet by a mile on every other video I watched. And I know from personal experience. I have dyson hand vacuums...the iRobot is still finding bins of dirt after I have vacuumed with dyson. Navigation on the iRobot is impeccable and from what I have seen the app is equal or better:)! One and only advantage of the Neato is vacuuming in the dark if that's what you need. Suction power on sand pickup test in carpet is 30% less than iRobot and 10% in cubic feet of air moved with no load. Cost also cheaper...but spend the extra money...you will be happy you did:).

I like the more factual and methodical way Vacuum Wars reviews them, they also include more tests. :-)

if you have enough money dont get the d9 get the d9+ and the d7 for not the best of both worlds but both worlds

I have both of these because I'm just a regular 11 year old that repeat watches this video and has 5 robot vacuums and 3 vacuums and 4 mops and 3 robot mops, do you have that? I bet you don't.

I had a Neato broke within 2 months, my Roomba is going 8 years strong.

I think Neato is better BUT (and this is a big but) Neato still has not figured out how to get their robots to stop repeatedly hammering forward when they are stuck on an object! This isn't just bad for your furniture but if the robot doesn't get unstuck (and how could it if it's ramming forward instead of going backwards) then it forgets where it was and starts all over. Also, they don't last very long. My neato's laser broke, which basically runs the entire vacuum, in just three or four years. That's really a lot of money to spend on something that isn't going to last very long. My Hoover is like 20 years old and before I went back to robots I got used to just doing it by hand again. I think with cats, the robot is good because it gets everywhere on a more regular basis, but it's expensive and this flaw I'm talking about is really annoying. Like beyond belief annoying. Also, expensive and doesn't last long. Hoover does a better job depending on how much work you want to put into it.

The Automated Dirt Disposal system convinced me to get a Roomba and no regrets on that. That's a MAJOR FEATURE that you do not even consider when comparing them. Plus Roomba does have "no-go" lines now. A few minutes for a faster clean isn't worth the sacrificing of having to empty a bin on your own. This is supposed to be all automated. Too much maintenance on the Neato in my opinion. One negative to both is the designs are so ugly.

So why is Romba copying the D shape of Neato ?

What I don't get is that cheapo vacs even use lidar tech but Roomba refuses to do so even with the billions of dollars that they have at their disposal. Also strange how Dyson doesn't get in on this game with their expertise either.

I have a 10 year old Neato XV-15 which still works very well (with a new battery). I also have a Roomba S9+. Mapping and babysitting-wise the Neato performs far far better than the S9+ despite being 1/3 of the price, 10 years and having no app. The S9+ looks fancy and has a fantastic app. Shame that the vacuum doesn't do what the app tells it to do. The only advantage it has over the 10yr old Neato is the fact that it empties it's onboard bin, although it often takes 10 minutes or more to find and dock with it . S9+ is very disappointing for the price.

Throw in a roborock s6 for 550USD it will beat both 😂

Just sent my neato back. Got stuck on everything, and wasn't smart at all. Plus, the bin is tiny and the construction doesn't appear durable at all. Neato = 👎

From someone with an i7+, an i9+, and 3 - m6 iRobot mops, take it from me, STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM ANYTHING MADE BY THEM AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE! Their performance, to a machine, is a joke. Their tech support is beyond horrific.

Wait what? Roomba pretty much beats the Neato on everything yet you give your "award" to the Neato because it costs a little less. WUT?

So what I heard was the roomba is the better vacuum, even self cleans itself, but since the neato is cheaper, has lasers, and a better app experience the neato wins... So dumb. Any ordinary person whom purchases a robot vac does so due to not wanting to vacuum... making the s9+ immensely better. You don’t have to touch the robot but every month or two versus a daily to weekly chore. I own the s9+ and m6. Been cleaning my downstairs for a whole month now. Checked the bag and it’s not even half full. The air filter isn’t even that dirty. It’s easily a 60 day maintenance vacuum. The m6 mops biweekly and requires new juice and pad every other session, so maintenance is once a week. I can not articulate just how perpetually clean my floors are. My roomba 980 on the other hand is treated like an actual vacuum. I drop it in a room and have it clean. Then I have to empty the bin. It cannot do more than three, stretching it because it’s generally full before 2, cleanings before it needs maintenance. This is because I don’t feel like maintaining it more than once a week. The only thing the roomba needs is a front facing camera. The laser tech is not necessary and people have problems with laser guided vacuums cleaning under couches. I’d put two front facing cameras offset from center so they can see the side as well as stereoscopically measure the distance objects are from the bot.

Robot vacuums are a hype; and overpriced!....I wouldn't use one even if got one for free. Not a robot lawnmower either. Call me conservative, I don't care....😄
