I like this new series of unboxings. It’s nice and straight forward. I have older Roombas myself, they’re old and one has needed a few repairs but they still clean excellently. Yes, that even includes my 4000 series scheduler haha.

I have the i7 and it’s very good on carpet, on hard floors it’s good but not very good since it has almost no vacuum power. But it’s a very good robot. Another thing to point out is that if you have black furniture like me the i7 can’t detect and will bang in at full speed each time. Other that that it’s ok.

Hi! Roomba i Series and s Series Robot Vacuums can navigate on dark surfaces. They use dual beam cliff sensor technology which improves their ability to clean over dark surfaces while also being able to detect cliffs or edges. If your robot is having issues navigating on dark surfaces, please ensure there is no dust or debris blocking the cliff sensors. Debris can be wiped away with a clean dry cloth or lighly dampened melamine foam.

Why the i7 new rebrand name is i8 now and the only thing that seems different is the higher battery mah?

Great question! The i8 is very similar to the i7. The primary difference is that the i8 has a different battery, allowing for a 20% longer runtime. The i8 is available for Costco members only.
