Iron deficiency is a common nutritional disorder characterized by a lack of sufficient iron in the body, often resulting in fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath. Iron deficiency can be caused by inadequate iron intake, poor absorption, or excessive loss of iron, and is more common in women, particularly during pregnancy and menstruation. Left untreated, iron deficiency can lead to anemia.
