This was the first Iron Maiden song I ever heard. This is the song that literally changed my entire life. It made me realize there was an entire universe of art, attitude, and ways of thinking about doing things outside of the narrow mainstream I had been exposed to. This was my doorway to the rabbit hole to Wonderland and I'm still free falling down it with no end in sight. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Same for me ! Back in the early 2000s I discovered metal with symphonic metal bands and for some reason I stumbled upon that song and got obsessed with it... It was on my mp3 player for a few months (yeah... no spotify back then) before I found out that Iron Maiden was a legendary band ! I dug deeper since then but that song still holds a special place in my heart

Dude….the entire “Somewhere in Time” album is all about time: whether it be waiting(Heaven Can Wait), trying to run somewhere to be on time(Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner), wasting time(Wasted Years), remembering times of your past(Deja Vu), or even a stranger being lost in the wrong time(Stranger in a Strange Land)….bloody Steve Harris’ bass lines are all about galloping….try “The Trooper” next or “Stranger in a Strange Land”….all good stuff bro 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

I borrowed this tape from someone when I was a young teen. It was the first song, and I was literally running around dancing to it in the living room after school.

Welcome to the world of the famous "Steve Harris gallop"! Iron Maiden's bassist and chief songwriter has a penchant for writing riffs, melodies, and, lest we forget, bass lines with that unmistakable galloping rhythm. Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx (who opened up for Iron Maiden in the 80s) once dismissed the headliners by saying all their songs sounded like the theme from "Bonanza"! I do, however, think he's come around to them since then.

When this came out it was a new Maiden. Having previously released Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind with Bruce they took a bit of a left turn using synths and their songs starting to be more and more bigger. Still fucking brilliant. Saw them on this tour.

Brad, the galloping sound is an Iron Maiden staple with bass player Steve Harris. A lot of their songs are like that. The Trooper and Run To The Hills which ya'll reacted to are two of the most famous. This is another one that Lex would just LOVE!! The guitar playing on this song by Dave Murray and Adrian Smith is absolutely sublime!! I really hope you play it for her.

I don't understand why 'reactors' (such an inane and pretentious label) upload their videos with those dumb gurning expressions on the thumbnail image. I know it's supposed to 'entice' viewers somehow but they just look idiotic and childish. Although...Brad is quite adept at accomplishing that just by talking.
